  1. I can only assume that there are some upgrades going on. I have noticed the same thing at many locations. I only have the GS3 but I have seen no data and then the phone switched back to 3G. I have also noticed some of the same issues with Verizon so I am sure it is tower upgrade related.
  2. This is the article I read. http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57620587-94/sprint-lays-off-330-techs-shutters-55-stores-as-part-of-broader-cuts/ Maybe I misunderstood it.
  3. As of March 17th Greensboro and High Point are on the list of available LTE markets.
  4. Was looking at CNET and they had a story about Sprint layoffs. I wonder how Sprint's financial issues will affect LTE rollout?
  5. I agree and understand. I believe it is all related to the race to upgrade towers. $350 is a huge bill so I would be upset if everything was not perfect also. I know that if you saw the guy saying can you hear me now you may punch him in the face. Still Sprint has set a new standard with triband service. Completed area's may see 100MB down stream. Verizon is talking about 50 downstream when done. If you are close to being free from Verizon take the time to research well. As a fellow IT expert I know you know what to look for. A lot of people switch thinking they will get a bill in a particular range and then the bill is much higher. I loved Sprint like a brother but I waited years for upgrades and could not wait anymore. Now that I have left they have made huge progress but since my wife is still with them it is much easier to see who is better and where they are better. I am not sorry I left but I wish I had not felt that it was necessary. Most of the conversations have been about Guilford and Forsyth counties. There has been little news about Rockingham. do drive up 68 and 220 to Madison scanning with Sensorly just to see where new towers are active. With all the new service in Guilford county there may be many towers getting ready to be active in Rockingham county. They worked on Forsyth for a year before they announced it. Most of the improvements in Guilford have been since December.
  6. Obvoiusly all cell phone carriers have areas where the coverage needs to be improved. Sprint is making improvements and if you have one of the newest phones that has all 3 bands on it you have the best chance for great data. I also have Verizon and I have not had any reason to complain. My wife still has Sprint. I had sprint up to maybe 4 months ago. Verizon is also in the process of upgrading thier towers to compete with Sprint's triband service. Also Time Warner and Comcast are upgrading thier equipment since cell phones are able to provide speeds of a traditional cable modem. You have to be with a carrier that meets your needs. One who gives great service where you need it. Advances in technologies have given the consumer more choices. Tomorrow will be better than today. If you are still tired of Verizon by then you will have many choices available.
  7. Winston has had LTE in many areas but some times the towers were not on or you would see LTE then when you tried to use it the speed would go back to 3G. Now that it is announced you should expect to see LTE on almost always if you are near a tower that has been upgraded. I have seen more consistent signals over the past month. Does anyone know if Sprint is going to turn on data sharing for existing members or do you have to be on one of the new plans? The newest plans say 5GB of shared data.
  8. Looking at Sensorly it appears that they have finally tuned on a tower to cover the gap where battleground and Benjamin parkway merge.
  9. I see at least two towers working now. One at 68 and Main street in High Point. The other on 68 and Ward. I believe it is the tower right behind the Wendys. Sensorly is updating so if you zoom in you can see it or just wait and it will be added.
  10. You now can drive on Hwy 150 from Kernersville to Brown Summit with LTE all the way.
  11. This could all be in my head but it seems as if phones switch to LTE slower on Sprint than other networks. I also have Verizon. Despite that pretty map they don't have LTE every where but even when I am on a 3G signal as it switches to LTE it does it quick without any interruption. My Sprint phone switches very slowly to LTE and often when it does switch there is no data available at all. This could be 5 seconds or 30. Many times I will drive thru and area with LTE and be almost at the end of the range of that antenna before it switches. Does anyone know why?
  12. Looking on Sensorly I see a new tower where Battleground crosses Old Battleground Ave. That helps reach almost all the way into Summerfield. It looks like it is getting the bottom of Summerfield. The Shopping Center at Battleground and Brassfield is where the signal would fade out but now it is good and strong. You can go down Cone from Battleground to Church Street now. Sedalia was an area with real bad coverage but now I see that one of the towers there is nearing completion. That will help that area a lot.
  13. I went down 421 to 62 today and had LTE the whole way. Came back Alamance Church Road and it was in and out. So it is possible that 421 has LTE all the way to Liberty. Where I got off at 62 is just above the signals mapped a month or so ago.
  14. Also looking on Sensorly I see that there is a new signal on 421 where it crosses Woody Mill. Someone was asking about that area a month or so ago. I bet they are celebrating tonight!!! Looking at all the towers turned on in the past 2 weeks Greensboro has taken the lead away from Highpoint in being close to completion.
  15. When there is LTE out there I can smell it. Other Oak Ridge tower is active. 22.56 down & 7.34 up. With this tower active there should be LTE from the Kernersville to Summerfield on Hwy 150.
  16. I believe one of the towers that covers Oak Ridge is active. Got LTE on 150 starting in Summerfield and continuing past 68. I believe it is the tower off 150 and Bunch Road. I also see some new activity downtown. East of Elm Street, South of Market Street on Freeman Mill Road.
  17. Drove down Battleground from New Garden to see where LTE may kick in. LTE started around Westridge and stayed on till just before downtown. Looking at Sensorly I think the active tower is near Battleground and Cone BLVD.
  18. Picked up new LTE signals coming down Bryan Blvd into Greensboro. The signal used to turn off at I73. This morning it stayed on almost all the way to downtown. There must be a new antenna working out there or they adjusted one of the others.
  19. Got some LTE showing up in Sensorly on 421 where it crosses I85 and on Pleasant Garden from 421 to Ritters Lake.
  20. New LTE mapping in east Greensboro. Strongest signal is on English between Lee Street and Market according to Sensorly.
  21. Looks like there is a new active tower. East of Guilford College on Hilltop Road
  22. That area has had no LTE for a while. Maybe your time has come? The towers near there have been on and off so maybe LTE will come on and stay on.
  23. Looks like the tower on Grimes in Highpoint is active. Looks like Highpoint is 40 to 50% done. Also it is possible that there are more towers that my GS3 cannot pickup like Clear Wire towers that have been converted.
  24. I often get LTE if I am right at the IHOP. Could be something new. It has been a long time since there have been any changes in that area.
  25. Wendover and Westover Terrace has been on Sensorly for a while. Don't know why it is such a small area. I see a tower has been activated on Guilford College where it meets High Point Road in Jamestown.
