No way, no how, not a chance.

Now that I'm back in the city at my place and since I rarely am out in the burbs to take advantage of even a decent EVDO connection, I'm beginning to debate if it would be wise to return my Galaxy S3?

I can use an Epic 4G that has wimax in the mean time, because I'm getting a usual data connection of at best 80k down and probably 30k up. I mean I like the phone and all but thought Chicago would be live in part by now or soon, and I'm not bitching about the time frame bc it is what it is, but now I'm thinking using wimax in the meantime, and surely by the time lte really is available for downtown Chicago there will be newer "better" phones that will serve as the flagship phones, RIGHT?

Anyone got some feedback... please share!

Heck I heard the Galaxy S4 is rumored to be out in like 4-5 months.

  2. Something weird is happening my 3G icon dropped and in settings it says disconnected. I can't do speedtest but still able to browse the forum. But before that happened my 3G icon kept dropping in and out.

Btw I'm in Waukegan Sent From EVO LTEEdit: It came back finally and did a speedtest to see what it would be like. And it has improved a lot even this time at night :wub:42575e82-2d05-8ac5.jpg

Installing the app grants it permissions that could enable reading your phone number and those you connect to, as well as your location, and report them somewhere via an Internet connection over which you have no control. And if the widget is installed, then it runs full time as a service. I choose not to do that, although it is increasingly common as a business model to barter one's private details in exchange for the use of a "free" app. But even the paid "Pro" version has all those permissions.

Thanks for responding I didn't know that at all :(

  4. that's pretty cool that 4g was on in Joliet yesterday. I called sprint and received a "credit" for my service lately. They told me the towers around my home in Round Lake area would be completed by 8/12 and the area where I work in Naperville would be shortly after.

Is there any projection when Chicago LTE would be active around the burbs?

Hopefully it is done by 8/12 for round lake I'm always there haha .

Looks like they are just starting NV at some sites in Waukegan. Three of them are scheduled to start NV in May. The rest look like August. The May sites will have 3G come live pretty quickly. The 4G LTE will come live later (like all the Chicago market). Although it appears the schedule may have slipped a little by a week or two.

Wait so in Waukegan they are only going to work on 3 towers? Could you possibly tell me at which locations? And I'm going to become a sponsor once I get paid next week.(Car needed a new motor and clutch this payday.)

  6. If you wait until mid to late 2013 for phones, you might even get support for Clearwire's 2500 Mhz LTE bands. Luckily I can't upgrade until June 2013 which is just in time for the next phones which should support all 3 LTE bands at 800, 1900 and 2500 Mhz.

Same here my upgrade won't be until Feb 2013 but I'm thinking about buying either the SGIII or HTC OneX off contract just to play around with. I have an evo 4G right now but its getting old fast.

I don't even know if it jumped a market. A/L could have hired more subcontractors to get started. I'm quite shocked still, because I know for fact that not all the engineering is complete for this market.

I know when the Columbus market is scheduled. But we are not ready to announce it. We are attempting to name these suckers in order!

You must have found this article: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-43-samsung-network-visionlte-deployment-schedule-details-for-sprints-chicago-market/

Now that we know how testing works, you will likely not see any effects until after the cluster is complete. At the end of May or into June. If they stay on schedule.

Yep that's the article :D and that's fine I just can't wait for it to be done. I wonder what the data speeds will be like after NV.

  8. If everything stays on schedule, the entire Chicago market should be done in early October. I am planning a Chicago market follow up article in the next week. Just waiting on a couple of return calls.
