Southern Connecticut Network Vision/LTE Deployment schedule update
in The Wall
A group blog by The Wall Editors in General
I have seen great speeds on evdo in my area over the past 24 hours... not sure if its a fluke yet or good things to come. was getting about 100k on a good day, much less on a normal day. now getting about 800k to 2mbps in some areas of town... I'll take that - thank you much :-)
What does the complete column on the chart mean? There's one in South Windsor that shows complete and is only like a quarter mile from my parents' house. Does complete mean work is complete or approval for work is complete? Also why are there random central and northern towns in there. South Windsor is east of the river, not that I'm complaining. That particular tower is on Sand Hill and as you can see, it states it's for a 4g LTE upgrade.

Almost December and zilch… I have a strong feeling Sprint will continue to disappoint.
As stated before, this isn't Sprint's fault. This is due to the state zoning regulations that forces a hearing process for this kind of update. The state tourism department is very protective of the skylines.

Call PURA for more details. They handle that portion of CT's planning for utilities. They also hold public hearings.

Talking to a state rep friend on who we can talk to as citizens to advocate for it in CT.

I'm checking in with a state rep that I went to high school with. He says it's hard in CT because there's heavy defense of the skyline for tourism purposes within the state. Looking for ways maybe citizens can expedite the process.

CT over regulates cell tower construction and any work on the cell towers needing to be upgraded. IIRC it takes Sprint roughly 30-60 days or more to get approval for work on one cell site in CT.
I need to talk to my state rep friends....

Why not CT? Kind of ridiculous. You can have 4g in NYC and Boston but nowhere in between...

Why upgrade southern connecticut and peoples homes before say... Hartford where tons of people work?
It's Greenwich and Fairfield county. Lots of rich people and NYC commuters who would flip out if they get LTE at work but not home.

I live in Downtown Hartford. The bubble comes like right up to it. Does that mean I could potentially get signal? How strong is it?

If Northern CT is at 10%, do you think they may light it up early as it's ahead of schedule?
