  2. Yup, it's on mine too. Don't know why someone couldn't find it!

The setting they are talking about is totally different. It's below 4g settings above the ones yall are pointing out. Has options of national roaming, all networks, and disabled.

This menu option is not displayed normally.

  3. I did notice that the storage space was different.  I just hope it's easy to do - although I suppose those that really care about having 4.3 will be more than able to do it themselves!

The trial did install pretty easily - only took about 10 minutes after I downloaded the 826 MB file.  I spent a lot of time trying to save things off it before I updated, because I wasn't sure what would happen to them.  I'm pretty sure it deleted everything that was there, so I was glad that I did that.

Yes, thats expected. you lose all internally saved things when doing the RUU update to this due to the re-partitioning...

  4. Did they say that on Twitter?? I wonder why it's happening that way?

Its b/c they re-partition the drive's in this update. storage space is moved around completely making everything much better really as welll.

  5. Damn. Not giving up root. Ill just have to sit and wait

If ur SOFF you don't loose crap.... I took the RUU still SOFF and flashed back superuser to regain root... All gravy...

I will say the radio is better but they have work on the Handoffs still... Picks up 4G too early for me and will do when it's unuseable and flipping to 3G gets you working data fine...

  6. Anyone notice any better signal?

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk

Mine got worse it seemed here a little.... not sure on 4G holding but just 3G signal in general seems to be a couple DB's worse than before...

  7. Future proof? If you are not upgrading but every 2 years then wait, but you will still be behind after 6 months. apps that slow a machine down are ment for the next big thing, if you don't want that to happen, then save your money and upgrade everytime a new shiney comes out.

I'm going to make a terrible assumption here and say that the s600 and s800 are probably like the i5 and i7 respectively in that yeah the i7 is probably more efficient, but the i5 will do the same just not as quickly.

Bad assumption. Totally different SoCs there and its a decent jump too all around performance and likely efficiency too due to it being an integrated SoC no need for separate chip handling radios/modems...

  8. http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/14/4836286/htc-one-max-review

They didn't enjoy it at all. It'll be interesting to see the reviews come in. Apparently, the jump from 5.7 to 5.9 is significant enough that that review felt it was too awkward.

Wanna say they hated the One as well so this isn't surprising... The one thing that got me is the comment about OIS being removed in the MAX... Seems odd to drop a feature there if all is true...

One thing I agree with them on is lack of camera button is disappointing... Phone this big should have one along with stylus... I expected at least 1 of those along with S800 here... Get a little better battery life outta the 8 over the 6 being that the 800 is fully integrated and no need for extra chip to handle the basebands/modems... Still surprised they launched this without the 800 given everyone else in the world is using it now on flagship...

  9. Does this mean HD Voice is live as long as both phones meet the requirements.

Don't understand how they put that in the changelog to be honest... Should of been active the whole time as long as both phones supported it AND the tower/switch connected to was upgraded and handled the codec....least that's what I thought way way way way back when this was brought up.

  10. One of the rumors I read about the HTC One Max mentioned SD card support (and they would defintely need to do it if it comes with just 16GB storage). So there would need to be a removable back.

Just googled around and came across this. http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/purported-images-of-htc-one-max-dual-sim-with-fingerprint-scanner-appear-online-411760

If I recall right the China version of the One had removable back and SD card too..... Don't get your hopes up yet...

  11. This has to be the reason

If anyone of the handset makers had a heads up on what was going on - it was Samsung - Sprint is using a lot of Samsung for the NV upgrade - yet the Galaxy S4 doesn't even have 800 LTE support. Sprint's leaked plans became known in 2011 for 800 LTE. These rumors manifest true in 2012. In mid 2013 Sprint's LTE 800 was cleared by the FCC - still 2 months before anyone knew if Clearwire would even be in Sprint's or Dish's hands.

By this argument Apple didn't even know who would have Clearwires spectrum until barely over 2 months ago.

YEP ! This is the reason ! At the time the deal was being finalized - the iPhone 5s was already in beta testing - virtually a ready product. There was actually almost no way the 5s could realistically have 2500 LTE - at least for the sake of Sprint. The Sprint buyout didn't even happen until July 10th ! Only 2 months ago. Wow.. seems longer.. but maybe most of that was the negotiation.

Apple had no way to know !

Yeah.... Just ignore the LG G2 tri band.....

I don't know. They rolled out LTE relatively quickly down 401 to Ten ten road and they did expand down us 70 but large areas of Old stage, white oak, timber drive and vandora springs is still uncovered. As far as Raleigh, I can never go through downtown or the NC state area without getting LTE. Now I-40 is a different situation.

If you take 401-> South Saunders and head north you won't get it when u reach downtown... Then from south Saunders take wade ave-> gleenwood and continue north up to cabtree mall... You won't get it till you get to the beltline...

Guess that's just a giant black hole strip of no coverage there I travel every day...

Ahhh, it depends on what you are calling Raleigh. Raleigh itself is pretty well covered except for certain parts of North Hills including Crabtree. Step right outside of Raleigh and things go downhill relatively quickly. Seems like Garner has stalled out and Wake Forest is still a black hole.

Try cycling airplane mode. Thats what really stinks with LTE. The time for the phone to re-search for signal is way too long. I know it does it to save battery but id like the ability to choose that time myself. Its especially painful when you know youre just in a small dead zone but if anything tries to use data during that dead zone youre thrown back to 3g and sometimes in excess of 15 minutes to acquire signal again. Or you can just toggle airplane mode and it will re-search for signal.

  15. Well I'm at charlotte motor speedway for the NASCAR race camping in the infield this weekend and took a pic of one of the COWs... Never seen one like this here before... There were 2 non branded COWs like the one pictured... Then 2 sprint COWs that were NOT LTE compliant as they only had 2 lines feeding the panels...

Never seen the giant square before.... Odd they put the panels sideways.... I assume for more coverage but they were the only truck set up this way as the sprint ones were straight up and down...

*note the horizontal panels are on another COW ill post pic of that on trip back here shortly.

*Note: the pic here is ATT COW btw that I've been told by the Verizon worker as he claimed the others were his.

  16. Sooo the HTC One box at Sprint shows a ton more freq than what it went through FCC testing for.... Wtf... Was pretty dang sure they weren't allowed to advertise bands the phone wasn't certified to use... Even if its SIM locked...

I read some where the HTC logo, with a custom kernel, can be made into a capacitive button and any function assigned to it.

  18. To nurture my impatience for this phone, I feel inclined to make a list of what I'm excited about--coming from my Evo 3D:
    • The higher resolution display
    • The painted-on quality of that display
    • The beautiful case
    • Lag-free lifestyle (at least vs. my 3D)
    • Google Now
    • The camera; especially looking forward to making good use of its low light abilities. I bet it will be great for concert photos.
    • Camera burst mode, and simultaneous videos and photos
    • HDR mode
    • Improved sound quality for recording videos; my standards are low here--it would be great if the quick clips I take at concerts don't sound ridiculously distorted.
    • The front-facing stereo speakers should make the occasions when I'm listening to music and don't feel like using earbuds or wired external speakers, much better than on my 3D.
    • LTE!!!!!
    • SVLTE
    • Hopefully better radio performance vs. my 3D--it would be nice to walk around my neighborhood and be able to stream Spotify.

Might be interesting, but I'll have to wait and see:

    • Zoes
    • Video highlight reels
    • IR blaster features (I don't watch much television)
    • BlinkFeed

Things I'm not looking forward to:

    • Losing the search button
    • No dedicated task switching button
    • Having to worry about how quickly that case will look bad when the phone is dropped on a hard surface
    • No expandable storage (though I have never gotten around to upgrading my 3D's 8GB micro SD card)
    • More expensive TEP (but my work cell allowance covers this increase)
    • The power button location might be irritating, but I'll have to wait and see.
    • No Android 4.2 yet.

Is there something awesome or terrible that I'm missing? I'm not too worried about the sealed battery, since I haven't had occasion to swap out the 3D's battery. I did have to replace my Samsung Moment's battery, but I had bought that phone used, so who knows what kind of abuse the battery had been through.

There's dedicated task switching button btw... The home doubles as it if I recall correctly... Double tap brings it up...

  19.

Sprint stated that they will start to release tri-band devices late this year. I'm sure we will see at least one phone with tri-band support before 2014. I'm banking in the Note 3 or the iPhone 5S being the first.

Lol the iPhone5S being one of the first.... Apple continued to be behind in this connectivity space all this time so if anything I'd expect them to be one of the last to incorporate it... Though anything is possible...

Looking to a 5in HTC phablet to be released later this year that has all 3 bands....

  20.

This is the problem with so many tech bloggers trumping up T-Mobile's DC-HSPA+ 42 network as a great fallback. Judging by the 3G/4G W-CDMA coverage area that T-Mobile has constructed over the last six years, if you find yourself in a native coverage area without LTE, you probably will not have W-CDMA either.

    AJ

Exactly.... Found it funny that the article talked in very general terms making giant assumptions... Just because you lose X signal type doesn't mean you will fall back to #2 type.... If coverage area for both kinds are the same you'd be skipping #2 all together and jump straight to the 3rd option...
