  1. Why not just add a SD card to a 16 GB model of the LG G2?  Not sure if Sprint will carry both the 16 and 32 GB models but I wouldn't blame Sprint if they only carry the 16 GB model.  Its cheaper for the consumer and as long as it has a SD card slot, I don't see too many people complaining.

You must not have kept up...LG G2 has NO micro-SD and battery is NOT removable.

  2. For me, the deal killer with GS4 is the AMOLED performance outside in sunlight. Even though GS4 AMOLED is better than past, it still suffers in sunlight. This is why i had so much hope in the LG G2 with its IPS 5.2 ultra-bright display!!

To be honest, i may still consider LG G2 if Sprint would import the 32GB model. I have my doubts. If no, then it is definitely off my list. Note 3 is too big because my Note 2 is already slightly too big for me.

So, it would be down to GS4 LTE-A vs. iPhone 5S.  I would likely pick 5S 64GB since iOS7 now offers much of what Android has along with smooth operation.

  3. That's an eternity to us eager power users

Are removable batteries and external storage great features? Sure but not deal breakers in my opinion.

If it means making the device more sturdy and thinner, i'll take that trade off.

Thinness, maybe.  But GS4 is one tough cookie!!  See the my GS4 video (in GS4 thread).

  4. Apple is king of vertical integration (ie imessage/factime/etc).

    Android is king of choice.

Very true...but as days pass, Android is becoming more Apple-like rather than going away.  Internal memory over SD, which i don't mind that much (and i understand the reasoning...security)...but unfortunately, MOST of the time, Sprint chooses to import the lesser storage phone...so, this sucks.  Apple lets you pick.  Again, i don't mind paying for options.  And now, Android is like Apple with battery.  (And yes, i have ALWAYS bought iPhone 32 or 64GB.)

Where is the choice you speak of?  Samsung is the only game in town...is that choice?  Again, it sucks already that most of aftermarket Android apps can't match competition's higher quality apps.  Exception being Google's core apps, such as navigation and Gmail.

  5. Exactly my point.

Most consumers do not drool over the fastest chipset like we do.

It's the wow gimmick features that appeals to them.

Wow I can facetime, Android had video calls for how many years before apple changed it's name to facetime LOL

Have you used an iPhone lately?  I can tell you that Facetime or iMessage is usually superior in function in real life to most aftermarket Android apps.  I am on Note 2 now...and iMessage is so damn superior to any Adroid messaging app that it is not even funny!

  6. Luckily for the continued existence of the universe, there are many options for charging phone batteries when traveling from big name companies like Energizer.

No removable battery, No SD card? Well, unless I am mistaken this phone offers something that the entire Samsung/HTC/Apple lineup currently does not: Triband LTE.

But, by the time this phone comes to Sprint (Sept or Oct), it won't have the distinction for much longer (if at all).

Do you think the Galaxy series sold so well because of SD cards and removable batteries?
How come the iPhone sells so well it has neither of those.

It's marketing, Apple and Samsung spends a ton on marketing to people who are not like us "Edge" users who crave specs and high performance.

The non "Edge" user care more about wow features (eye scrolling and other gimmickie stuff)

And??? Just because we are "edge users," we can't complain or have the right to or that our disappointment does not make sense? I don't understand. Are the "edge users" talking in a different language?

  8. Do that many people really carry around multiple batteries?

I never felt the need for an extra battery.

I have a charger at work, car charger and charger at home.

I'm never more than a few hours without a charger and if I am i'm probably socializing or having fun in the real world and not using my phone anyway. If my phone even dies while i'm out it's not the end of the world!

All true.  Me too.  But, again, frequent charging kills battery.  You do that...and by 1 year or so, your battery will hold less and less charge.  THIS is when you buy another battery to replace it with and voila, you're back to original battery life (1.2 days).

And for ME, when battery dies, it IS the end of the world (or sort of speak)...because my work AND home life depends on it.  My phone is also my pager.

  9. Some of you are going to have to realize that you are edge cases, such that the market may not serve your needs.  You use the device too much and/or store too much media.  My suggestion is to get a life.

    ;)

AJ, i know that i am new here and that you did put a smilie at the end, but you really don't know what we do with our phones to come to that honestly stupid conclusion.  You need to refrain a tiny bit.  I think that all of us here on this forum are pretty "edge users" already given how connected we try to be about Sprint's LTE networks.  So, for an edge user to call out another one is pretty dumb IMHO.

My phone is my work phone (use constantly in hospital) and my home phone.  My kids also use it sometimes for games or watch a quick episode of Spongebob or whatever movie i have (on my SD).  I am sure that LG won't mind losing me as a customer, but does that mean that i can't voice my disappointment on a FORUM in a thread that i created about this very phone?

  10. Battery is 3000mah plenty of juice for a full day of heavy usage.

The problem is that i am somewhat of a "power-user" and eat up battery a lot!  Even my Note 2 can't survive more than 6 hours!  Therefore, i charge often...which kills battery.  And if i am keeping this for 2 years, then i need removable battery so that i can throw in a new one when the old one loses charge.

Same thing with micro-Sd...i watch movies a lot on my phone (via ripped movies).  And with a 13MP 1080p camera/video, that 16GB internal memory will fill up quickly if you also have a decent amount of apps.  Hopefully, Sprint will offer both 16 and 32GB, but Sprint usually gets the short-end.

Wow, these two may be deal killers for me! :(
