  1. I hate to ask, because it is not the "end all solution to all problems". But are you in a band 12 market on a band 12 device? The iPhone 6 (without band 12) was mediocre in fringe areas on VoLTE. But the 6S with band 12 is much improved. At least in the Baltimore market. I hate similar VoLTE issues prior to getting a band 12 handset.

Two iPhone 6s in a band 12 market. :(  However, I know it shouldn't make a difference, but the 6s with the Samsung processor drops calls significantly more than the 6s with the TSMC processor. As an aside, both phones perform the same with battery drain.

  2. No problem. Other than the places that are out in the middle of nowhere which happen to also be bedroom communities sprint has rock solid coverage.

I'm looking forward to more info on the 800 rollout in Cleveland.  In building data coverage is still the pits in Ohio City, Downtown and Tremont.    (I realize this is my experience as I'm in these places most for work and play)

  3. My two lines also revert to 3G often.  1x is the norm in neighborhoods like Seven Hills, Mentor on the Lake, Old Brooklyn.

I finally succeeded in convincing the other half to try Sprint in December.  The spotty data coverage was expected (although I do see improvements).  The larger disappointment definitely has to do with call quality in Cleveland.  We've travelled to other cities and the Sprint call quality is very good.  It's certainly iffy in Cleveland.. "digitizes" quite a bit and always in the same areas.  Even the WiFi calling hasn't totally resolved the issues.

Very much anticipating Sprint's plans for the next two years.

  4. Nice to see a great deal like that for ppl who switch over. :)

It was no easy sell to the other half.. but we're not disappointed for the price.

Sure, LTE is spotty in NE Ohio.. but 3G is mostly usable.  I know things will only get better with more b41 and when we can actually deploy widespread 800 here.

  5. Been a spectator in the forum for years..  Finally thinking of making the leap to Sprint.  Tried the Half Price Event on Sprint.com and even with a proper downloaded .pdf bill all I get is: "Uh oh! We're having trouble reading your bill. Please visit a Sprint Store."

I'm reluctant to turn in my phones from another carrier (something evil, and perhaps having to do with bells) in case it just doesn't work out.  Anyone in the Cleveland area able to vouch for my leap of faith?

  6. I've heard it described in the past from one of our Clearwire sources that they could not handle a large scale adoption in the Top 25 markets with the spectrum resources they have. They realize the home ISP business model was not only flawed but the technical resource model was also flawed. Home users used 5x the the amount of data than they originally forecasted. And Sprint smartphone customers used 3x.

When you consider how dense the Clearwire network is, and they still have 4-5 carriers deployed in high capacity sites and they never reached the subscriber numbers they planned, and the speeds have dropped to 2-3Mbps at these sites...well, it really speaks to how flawed the whole plan was.

Strange thing is I still receive Clearwire home wireless ISP offers all the time.. so are they still promoting in some markets?

  7. We're talking billion dollar corporations here.. no matter how someone spins it.. they all are fully vested in making the most money for their shareholders. I happen to prefer iOS, I have no adverse feelings for those who use Android or WM. I don't think for a second that any of these powerhouses would hesitate to litigate especially in the messed up US patent environment. All I'm saying is everyone needs to take a deep breath. Tech companies come and go.. today's rage is tomorrows antiquity.
