  1. Thinking about getting this phone for my wife in the future. I'm just a bit concerned about the liquid cooling aspect on this. Is this new having in a phone liquid cooled? Will it be prone to leakage from age or from the phone being dropped? What will happen if the liquid does leak out(overheat only? And how fast?)? If the liquid gets on the electronics, will it have effects on it?

Being from the automotive field, things like this happen. Just getting thoughts and learning about it from the electronic side of things.

  2. I would also like to see the data.  I believe dkyeager may have hit the nail on the head with the configuration of the airrave as well as the QoS vs. wifi calling.  I guess I just find it interesting that wifi calling is so much more inefficient than an airrave with the connection coming from the same "backbone".

Sprint also offers a wifi router that priorities the WiFi calling over other traffic. This may fix you WiFI calling issue. They offer this for free just like the Airave, if you have signal issues.

  3. My wife's G4 is having an issue I've never heard of before. The phone is fine on native coverage for voice and text, and on wifi calling it works fine too. But on roaming it acts like it isn't activated. Any call on roaming and you hear this" welcome to Verizon wireless, there was an error ...please reboot...etc " ... Sprint tech couldn't resolve and said its tower issue. My phone does right. No error on roam.. But they say its tower and I'm getting a callback when it's fixed. I am hoping they go ahead and optimize 800 mhz, we never would've found this prob with her phone if the airwave hadn't quit today. Another airave is on the way, will be delivered on Thurs..but it's a problem when she can't make calls unless she's in native / on wifi calling.

I tried with my Note 5 sitting beside her G4. My phone does just fine...Her phone gives error.

Texts on her phone won't send/receive.  I have tried ##scrtn#..probably around 5-6 times now...and they did a network refresh on their end...still nothing.

But, maybe this will cause someone to visit the tower near me and do something to 800 so I get service.. I personally think something is wrong with her phone and it prob needs factory reset...

But I'm not sure what a factory reset will do that ##scrtn# hasn't already done. Other than that, I've never seen this before. Either it works or it don't...I've never seen where phone didn't work on roaming at all, but worked on native just fine.

Is this at your house? I'm little confused.  Why you need airave if you have WiFi calling enable? Why not just call on the WiFi and not use the tower?  I'm not saying the problem doesn't need fixed.

  4. I'm actually kind of surprised that the Southern Virginia market and its five whole counties didn't get rolled into the Shentel purchase.  It would have put Louisa County into the Shentel market.

But, alas, we're still waiting for Sprint to fill that gap.  I was hoping that I would be pleasantly surprised driving through Zion Crossroads today, but from the above comments, I'm going to prepare for disappointment.

I thought Sprint had their own towers in Louisa County.

  5. First impression for 6.0. Standby battery life is great! Actually using the phone seems to drain the battery (Android software is the culprit). I also am having an issue where you cannot send a picture text via hangouts. Get a retry sensing error over and over. Other than those two items it runs great and seems real smooth.

Was this the OTA update? If so when did you get it?

  6. From what I've been told by Sprint reps over the phone, once you lease a phone there is no way to go back to subsidized phones unless you sign up for the current rates available to the public (which would mean losing SERO or ED 1500 prices). I have asked twice, not because I am curious, but because the last 2 times I called for billing/service issues, I have been offered to end my current contract early in order to get a leased phone.

You may want to double check, because I know my account also says I'm eligible for an upgrade even though I just renewed my lines 6 months ago through 2 year agreement. Once I click on the notification, the only options to come up are easy pay or lease, with 2-year agreement pricing being greyed out.

Just going by what Sprint has told me twice.

I was also told that once you pay off the phone then you can get subsidized back.  I asked that point blank.  I had to get a new phone early for my son about  months back.

  7. Well after having my phone 2 years it's finally starting to spaz out..the screen is swiping on it's on..clicking on certain things like it's possessed..sheesh..this sucks..I really liked this phone but don't want to drop the money to replace the screen and hope that's the cause..there is not any cracks so I don't know what's causing it..

Mine been doing the same thing a month or two now. My wife's went out last month doing the same thing. Next month time for upgrade. Hope it hangs in there until then or I don't throw it at a wall.

  8. And there are other ways to save with Sprint to afford the sims card.

If you trying to save on money, then I sure one would be with a credit union. By being with a credit union, Sprint waives the activation fees and give you a 10% discount. With this discount, I'm sure it would pay for that SIMS card.

Problems solved if one really is trying to save money.

  9. Being on a ED plan I would consider going to the $40 GB share plan only if they dropped the higher data access line fee for my subsidized lines. Heck for new customers they are ponying up ETF payoffs. Why not relax the line fee for existing to get them off ED plans. The thing I want most that I don't have now is the ability to tether.

I would consider that plan also if they offered me the same. Not only they are ponying up ETF fees, but they are also offering no data access fees for life for that plan also for new customers at this time.

  10. Sure the more lines you add the more you save with any plan. I have 3 lines on the ED. I pay $179 before taxes and fees and discounts. 3 @ $60.

I also had to pay a few $100 up front for the 3 phones.

Not far off from your average.

The people really below the average are those that took advantage of the Framily plan and are paying $25 or $30 for service.

It's not the same because Framly does not have the subsidy.

  11. I never understood the reason for the access line charges.

Yeah....it like selling me a can of food, but changing me extra to open it so I can eat it. I like the concept promotion they have now for new customers.   $100.00 for 4 lines (with 10 gigs I think) with no access charge, then $15 for each phone after that (up to 10 phones).   I was actually considering that plan, but I'm not a new customer.

  12. There is always the possibility of moving to the wired internet model.  Pay X for up to 5mbps speed.  Pay Y for up to 30mbps speed.  Pay Z for up to 100mbps speed.  That model is still unlimited, approved by the FCC, and it generates additional revenue.  I wouldn't be surprised to see that occur in the future as speeds continue to increase.

I would have  a hard time with that model. If I pay for 30mbps and only get 20mbps at times, would piss me off since I'm paying for 30.  They just can't guarrenty the speed all the time. Especially at events and such.

  13.   I'd much rather than add WiFi calling to the G2, but it's also aging so they may not focus much on adding it at this point.

I'm just being hopeful. Especially since they where suppose to make the IU ( I think that's it) more like the G3. Figure they would just throw it right in there with it.  I also figure this will be the last major update for this phone due to it's age anyways.
