  1. For me it's not even worth getting too excited about the Galaxy S3.... yet. Why? Because this is Sprint we're talking about. Do you REALLY think the chipset will be the ONLY change to the Sprint S3 vs. International?

Obviously just look at the International HTC One X Vs Evo LTE. We simply can't trust that we know what exactly we're going to get.

Now, that can either be good or bad. Only time will tell.

P.S. Everyone laughs at minor things like Beats Audio until two devices are so alike that it now becomes a consideration.

  2. Eh... the Gnex has lost a little of its luster for me. The news that the CDMA Gnex won't get its updates straight from google was a real disappointment. When you combine that with some of the other things already mentioned, a lesser camera, a lessor processor, and the fact that sense isn't a negative to me. All and all I think the Evo LTE has a certain wow factor that's worth the wait. Not to mention, although I've been able to upgrade my OG Evo since April 1st, I am in no hurry to upgrade until Northern Virginia gets a more significant LTE footprint. I do use WIMAX when it's available. I'll wait a couple weeks after the Evo launch... check the forums for a consensus of the pros/cons... look at everything confirmed at the time for the Galaxy III.... and make the best decision I can at the time. That's all you can really do.

  3. I'm in a similar situation. April 1st is upgrade eligibility time and my Evo 4G sees the writing on the wall. I need a little more information before I can be confident I'm making an informed decision. Will Sprint's version of the GNex have the verizon or Plus specs? How do those specs compare to that of the Jet? - which I hope will be leaked before CTIA. How long will Sprint lockout the lte on these devices while markets trickle online? DC is a second rounder, so I'm fairing better than most, but no hope for even cluster lte might be what I need to wait for a device that isn't months old specs the day of launch.

  4. Definitely wait. You have to constantly remind yourself that you'll be stuck with this phone for the next 22 months. That makes it critically important to select a phone that is not going to see its eol or end of life while you're still contract. For example, I bought the evo 4g the first week of launch. Now my upgrade is due April 1st. Can you imagine the pain I'd feel if I bought that phone just six month later? I feel sorry for those people. Don't make that same mistake.

  5. So, what do you think about Sprint's opportunity to make a big announcement??

Sprint touts the value of a green approach

LIVE FROM GSMA MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2012: Sprint CEO Dan Hesse emphasised the US operator’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability in his keynote at Congress today.

“Purpose, community, the environment and morality are often missing from business investment discussions. In addition to being the right thing to do over time, being environmentally responsible will lower our costs and enhance our brands,” he said.

Hesse said the company aims to reuse or recycle nine out of 10 phones it sells by 2017, as well as creating a “gold standard” for the certification of refurbished phones, through its participation in the Device Renewal Forum.

The company is also the first US telecoms company to publish an electronic stewardship policy concerning the disposal of electronic waste, according to Hesse.

The final element in Sprint’s sustainability efforts discussed was its recent acceptance into the World Wildlife Fund Climate Savers programme, to which just 28 companies have ever been admitted. The programme coordinates non-governmental efforts to reduce carbon emissions and minimise global warming.

Hesse added that Sprint’s “tireless effort to reduce our carbon footprint” and bring “more sustainable mobile devices and technologies” to the market, have seen it recognised in the industry, including a number three ranking in Newsweek’s Green List.

  6. You can use these same codes within the mobile site and the Forum Apps. You just would have to hand type in the bracket codes, since you do not have a text button option in those instances.

Sweet. Tricky on mobile but with your help I've got it. Thank you for the comprehensive explanation.

    (Assuming I quoted correctly. lol)

  7. I read the Guidelines for Posting Articles and am left unsure about quoting via the S4GRU mobile site.

Can you provide a full example?

How I understand the process is as follows. I've used quotations instead of brackets to avoid actually quoting. Is there anything that goes after the quoted text and before my unquoted comments?

    Example:

    --------------

"quote" or "quote name=chappo2000" This is where I'd have whatever I was quoting.

This is where I'd comment on whatever I quoted.

    ----------------

    Thank you for any guidance.

  8. I think Sprint has a significant PR problem at the moment. Essentially if you're eligible for an upgrade right now you're forced to wait with no timetable. Some light has got to be shed on Sprint's offerings for the summer. I understand the conventional wisdom is to wait for CTIA, and I'm sure all those questions will be answered by then. But I think Sprint understands they have to give us something to keep us going till CTIA. It's March now and it's about time to show us the light at the end of the tunnel.

  9. Exciting news! Especially the thought of it being called the "Evo LTE." Sure, it's only a name, you can name it anything you want. But the Evo has been such a staple for Sprint's Android lineup - why change a good thing, right?

(Well, where I got it anyway. The original source is referenced.)
