B41 is everywhere in Jax. Try going to a known B41 site and see if you can connect.

I don't think the tower I'm closest to, and use the most, is broadcasting B41. But I did ride around the OP/NAS JAX area and picked up some B41 connections. What areas have you caught B41?
-
Band 41 is not active on the 8T8R radio at this location yet. I did find B41 on a tower near 295 and Normandy but didn't look at the clear tower near that area as I'm typing this from the parking lot across the street.
Which tower by 295 Normandy? The one behind the Bank of America and Shell or the one next to the highway next to the Herlong overpass? I noticed when I got on the highway today, going towards OP, I caught some B41. Wasn't sure what tower though.
edit:...were you able to see if the normandy/fouraker tower is broadcasting B41 at all?
-
Right. There's some sites that I've been in close proximity to that does have band 41 broadcasting but there isn't many. I'm shocked myself that the Normandy site doesn't have b41 broadcasting in that busy area.
I'm guessing for now, 25/26 is sufficient for the area, until they activate the 8t8r panels that were recently installed. Appreciate you for clearing up some misconception I had about the B41 stuff. I love that the Sprint coverage maps show I'm in the yellow area for sprint spark. Today was the 1st time I witnessed my iPhone display B41 while driving around the OP/NAS JAX area.

Clear sites are broadcasting Wimax even the sites that's broadcasting band 41. Sometime next year Wimax will be deactivated.
the Normandy/fouraker site...it has 25/26 for sure. but even though it has clear gear, doesnt mean its going to have b41 broadcasting, right?
-
Correct until Sprint and Nokia activate band 41 LTE you won't be able to connect. When it turns on though you will be in band 41 bliss. Also the new Sprint band 41 equipment will send band 41 signal further with the MIMO tech they are using.
Ah now I have a better understanding. Co-located sites are still broadcasting the old WiMAX signal?
-
Its OK I didn't get band 41 for a while on my N5 waiting on the firmware update for tri-band to work correctly. You can ask all the questions you want that's why we are here. If you are connecting to band 41 most likely its clear b41. I have yet to connect to sprint b41 and I drive past 3 known sprint installs daily.
So even though the tower I'm bitching about might be co-located with NV equip, it'll broadcast 25/26 but not 41?
-
I'm new to this Band 41 stuff so that's why I'm asking. If I'm getting B41, what equipment is being used to broadcast it?
-
I'm heading up to Atlanta in a few minutes. I'm going to swing by the Normandy/Fouracre tower and check it out. I'll post my findings/freq scan info tonight. I have yet to see an 8T8R active for the ones installed in Orange Park, so I'm guessing it is not active yet.
Awesome. This normandy/fouraker tower is the one I use the most. I just drove to other sites on the OP/NAS JAX area and was able to catch B41. But this tower normandy is suppose to be a colocation clear site and I'm not seeing any B41 from it, but everywhere else. Lemme know what you find. But even if the 8t8r equip isn't active yet, shouldn't the site still be broadcasting B41 on the old clear equip?

Is there anything specific that needs to be change on the account side of my service, to allow me to connect to B41? I have the iPhone 6 and have yet to touch any B41. I'm in the Jacksonville market.
-
If you're on the iPhone 5 (judging based on your profile), it does not have B41 capabilities. Iphone 6 and most Android devices Sprint sells supports B41.
iPhone 6. Switches between B25/26 a lot. Is it possible that there had to be a change made to my account to allow B41 connection, or is it strictly up to the handset?
-
I don't think that they are active yet. All the ones I've spotted I haven't connected to. The only band 41 you will connect to is the legacy clearwire sites.

Yes i know. I'm in very close promximity to this tower and never touched B41, even if its still using the old clearwire equipment.

Spotted another 8t8r install on a Sprint/Clear colocated site. On the corner of Normandy and Foraker.

I've yet to see any B41 on my iphone 6 with this tower.

I noticed that as well. My phone sticks to b26 mostly but it's all good cause I'm getting at least 10mbps on two bars and it's doing what I need it to do. I'd rather be on 26 than 25.
Same here. Just glad iphone is tri-band now. on the prowl for B41 today...

My iPhone 6 likes to stick to B26 and sometimes bounces to B25, even though the tower behind my house has 8t 8r as well

Mine gets here 9/19...Apple site says preparing for shipment.

The tower on Kernan/Beach behind Publix has NV Panels now. It wasn't there two weeks ago for sure.

I am trembling to hear what the iPhone 6 is all about omfg

I'm so excited I'm trembling.

The tower by Gateway/FBI has ground mounted radios? Hmm
-
Sounds like 8t8r!

Is it? The RRU are mounted funny. The standard RRU have top and bottom sets while these have only a top set
-
I noticed the sprint tower behind my house has additional panels next to the existing NV panels. A few weeks ago there were crews working on the tower and it looks like that's what they did. One additional panel for each sector.
The setup is just like that picture posted above of the tower in OP.

How to Spot Sprint 8T8R TD-LTE RRHs (Nokia Networks)

Why do they install the equipment, but it doesn't go live for a few months?
