  1. Alot of data speeds IMO depend on density and time of day. Downtown speeds crawl until most people leave work downtown then it is somewhat acceptable. I fail to understand why Sprint doesn't beef up sites that are known trouble spots, esp in downtown or Jordan Creek, near campuses and such. Hopefully NV is the solution. I wish i had more insight as to how Sprint planned out their 3g network in the past. Voice is always excellent in Des Moines. 5 years ago I lived across from Valley West and used Sprint as my ISP for a while their data rates were so good and the price was affordable for a tethering plan.
  2. I'm wondering what or who they are using for the backhaul. I dont see any CTL ckts at the addresses listed for the towers on the map. Does anyone know what kind of feed they use for LTE? T1/T3/OC?
  3. So does anyone know what the holdup is? The fair has come and gone. Do all these towers need to be complete before they are lit for 4g?
  4. I dont think Sprint will hurry based on Att's timeline. Verizon rules data wise downtown Des Moines, followed by t-mo. And I bet Att will put LTE downtown first because the big central office is there.
  5. I have a question about the tower map. The tower I use downtown lists an address of West Des Moines. That isn't right. It's also the tower that is totally messed up data wise. Ping was over 1000 ms today after 4PM. Can we get the map corrected to list the right address for the tower? I'd like to know where we are on getting it LTE but the right address is a start...! If this post s/b moved to the map forum pls let me know.
  6. I'm hoping they are working on the towers downtown. Ping this morning by the library was 454 ms and .13 kbs no upload. Fingers crossed!
  7. Excuse my ignorance but what does a guide wire do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
  8. My wifi wants an angry birds Star Wars Yoda!!! #September19PleaseHurry

  9. That's a good test. I was there over the weekend and it is pretty overloaded too. Indoors and outside. Can't wait for this work to be done!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
  10. Speeds downtown are still poor today. Ping at 450 ms and sometimes can't even ping. Guess last week was a one off for now. We have a lot of people that stream pandora and such downtown at offices here so bandwidth gets eaten up pretty fast. I can tell the tower is over by the school so I'll have to drive by tonight and see if there is anything going on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
  11. Downtown speeds improved in the last couple of speedtests i made just now. Ping was about 100 ms and download speeds about 1 mb. I'm wondering if they are doing some work on the tower which I am assuming is the Falcon Drive tower. I didnt get an LTE signal. Maybe everyone is just gone from downtown today?
  12. Thank you! I will get back to you as soon as I find something out
  13. Please excuse me but I cant seem to find this OT information: I want to know the location of the towers in des moines, but I hear mention of being a supporting member and having access to other info. If I can get the location of a tower I can check to see if there are any t1/t3 ckts there and maybe see if they are putting new orders in. Can someone point me to a link about becoming a supporter?
  14. Verizon had LTE first at the fairgrounds last year. I realize that alot of people attend the fair but I'm not sure why that is the rallying point. I would think the tower around the corp store on university would be one of the first to show it off, or maybe jordan creek. Certainly downtown could use LTE relief way before the residential areas. The business people who can't get any data downtown are going to be more likely to switch vs people at home who are most likely using WIFI.

  16. You guys are GREAT! I'm sticking with Sprint and you guys are making the wait for LTE go so much easier.
  17. So does anyone here think that we will just see enhanced 3g speeds or will we actually get LTE or both? Is it possible they will skip us over for LTE like they did with WiMAX?
  18. i just did a speedtest @ 4:30. Ping was 120, 1.11 mpbs. Not too bad speeds but that's with the majority of downtown gone home.
  19. Exactly. That's why I'm following this thread so closely. I've been burned before and I need real proof to stay with Sprint past this summer.
  20. Anyone have an idea what the closest tower is downtown on Grand/Ingersol? Any permit info for those towers?
