This happens to me occasionally. I notice I'm usually on CDMA (3G/1X), not LTE, when it happens. It first started on 4.4.3, but I haven't had it happen recently on 4.4.4.Anyone receiving duplicate texts since 4.4.4? I've narrowed it down to a problem with iPhones on Verizon Wireless, but curious to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Thanks. I'll try to swap an old S3 beforehand.

I'm going to SF next week with a Nexus 5. When I visited last year, CSFB wasn't working in SF. Has there been any progress on CSFB in the city proper?
-
Where exactly were you when this was taken? It may be worth opening a trouble ticket if it's in an area that should have good coverage.
I will also need to see your engineering screen, or a signal check pro screen shot.

I feel like LTE speed has been steadily degrading. I guess it's not entirely surprising as more LTE phones are activated.

Where in sf did you get 800? I get it routinely in sf but the signal comes from Daly City for me.

I've been seeing more 1X800 connections in the Peninsula as of late. Nice speeds as well!
1x800 in SF too. No signs of CSFB yet though, so still no LTE for tri-band handsets.

Unfortunately, all the sites covering the Central West End have been upgraded. There are still a couple more to go in Midtown, so that will help.
It's going to take 800MHz LTE and 250MHz LTE to relieve some of that congestion.
Sprint is not likely to start using any additional PCS spectrum for LTE any time soon.
Ah. That's too bad. I was afraid that would be the case. Hopefully some eCSFB on B41 lights up soon.

I find that LTE is pretty consistently congested in Central West End and Midtown. Hopefully the towers have room to upgrade the current airlink/backhaul capacity.

As more people move to LTE, I find my WiMax speeds on the ol' Galaxy SII are much faster than the overburdened LTE in downtown SF.

With the reports of issues that we are having with Tri-Band devices, I am now compiling data to try and see where the issue is. Anyone with a Tri-Band phone please let me know of any site that you cannot connect to.
Edit: Actually please report any site that you can connect to or cannot connect to. Please include any GCI(HEX) that you get.

Otherwise 21-22 x1.5 mbps every day.. Those where the days...
Is this even possible? I read earlier that the max down speed for wimax is under 40.

Why isn't any cell maker or company trying to address this problem I wonder though.
Have the phone spot a pattern, it should know it will kill the battery if it the pattern continues.
Have an option in the phone settings where the user can select "don't turn my phone into a pocket warmer", be more conservative about selecting roam-not roam-roam-not roam.
I put my phone on 'home' only unless I'm driving around where I know I'll have it powered by the car most of the time.
When a phone's battery can die over a period of less than 2 hours, there is a problem with the phone.
I wish they'd test the phones more, or at least a little bit in less than perfect cell conditions.
Phone manufacturers obviously know about this situation. I'd guess the simple solution isn't worked on because carriers care more about their roaming bills than your battery life. Gotta watch the bottom line, nawmsayin?

I think that was their original plan with Clearwire but I think that was only because they would still have to pay Clearwire based on usage so they only wanted to use them when necessary. But now that Sprint intends to buy them outright, Sprint no longer needs to pay Clearwire for using their spectrum and it would be Sprint's spectrum to do as they please with. Perhaps they don't do it now or next year, but I think its plausible that they can put LTE 2500 on all towers. Well in the cities at least since it doesn't really do anything to have LTE 2500 in the rural areas since those towers wont really be strained and 2500 range isn't as good as 1900 or 800.
Sprint paid a flat rate for unlimited WiMax usage. The details are in a Sprint press release when they agreed to partner with Clear until 2015.
There's no way S will put 2500 LTE on all their towers. Overkill.

I don't think it's due to the radio.

I want to use this testing PRL, but first can anyone confirm that the Samsung Epic 4G Touch works with ESMR (BC 10)?
I know the hardware is capable and the FCC tested BC 10, but I suspect it's not actually enabled in the software baseband. Especially because the stock PRL is of the 60xxx variety instead of the 21xxx type.

No one knows about this? I'm not in an area with SMR currently, so I can't test it.

A quick google search comes back kinda meh'ish at best. I'm curious, can someone load the PRL and test? Is there anywhere to test?
As of PRL 21087, SMR is only enabled for the Chicago area on channels 476 and 526. But there are reports of other active SMR sites earlier in this thread.

I believe the EVO 3D had a stock PRL 60xxx as well. I just went back to my 3VO to test the leaked ICS rom and it downloaded a 21xxx PRL when updated.
OK... That doesn't really answer my question. So the Evo 3D was updated to a SMR enabled PRL, and the E4GT wasn't. That's nice. Should I be inferring something from that statement?

What i have done to get around the low end device is "clone" my Optimus to another device.. in my case an Epic 4G Touch. I won't get into how i did this.. but i will say it is indeed possible.
Won't doing this eliminate the WiFi calling capability? I assume some special software is on the stock phone to allow this.
