  1. Looks like the Honolulu permits are finally starting to roll. Details in the sponsor permit thread. Viva Network Vision!

(This does not mean LTE is coming, but does mean improved 3G is coming and the equipment for LTE will be on the towers waiting for fiber hookup.)

Seems my donation expired. Could have sworn it was lifetime access...

  2. I'm not in the mood to be mocked. I think you have completely misunderstood my posts. I am discussing how the one accepted LTE site on our maps is not actually a site and is not broadcasting to the public. You are discussing a Sensorly report. I am trying to explain to you that the signal from Sensorly IS NOT COMING FROM THE DATA CENTER.

If any other phantom signals appear, they also will not be coming from the data center. The Hawaii market is receiving NV deployments. The signal could very well be coming from a site in progress. I try to run around and provide helpful information to 98 markets. I don't appreciate being "mocked" by you for giving you good information about yours.

Not mocking you, just trying to understand how that data point got that gps data there

  3. Just so everyone is aware, a TOY cell is a macro site set up inside a Sprint MSC or DDC that is used to test, evaluate and train. It is not intended to be usable even outside the building. Sometimes they can be usable a few feet outside the building, but I've never heard of an instance of someone using a TOY more than a block away.Often TOYs are locked down and the public cannot authenticate with the network on them. We mark TOY cells on our maps so people realize it is not a public macro site. We allow them on our maps more as informational to see where Sprint's DDC and MSC's are located. Not so much for locating signals.Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

So there's a training center in Waipahu?

This is "my" cell tower. I put that in quotes because it's only kindasorta mine. I live 2.1 miles from this tower, and I have absolutely NO service inside of my house. If I walk out onto the back porch, I'll be lucky to get an empty triangle icon (technically this is very limited 1xRTT and has worked once when I checked my voicemail) for about a minute at a time. And no data. Nothing.

Triangle means you're roaming on Verizon or Mobi's towers. Probably Mobi as the data is almost non existent

  5. Probably downtown. I'll for sure check Sensorly. Just wondering if you guys had any good experience with pdx hotels. Besides pine state biscuits and voodoo anything else I must have? Haven't started researching yet. I might as well start here since I already spend too much time on this site. :D

Salt and straw, go take a waking tour of downtown. We stayed at the red lion quay in Vancouver, had marginal lte. Was more like a motel but it was close to pdx airport and the city and ikea. Near my friend's parent's deli in progress I was hitting 15mbit lte

  6. Driving up to Portland at the end of the month. Wifey put me in the charge of booking hotel. Guess what one of my criteria will be. :D

Any hotel recommendations that def get lte? Price and reviews will weigh in too I'm sure. But let's be real. Thanks in advance guys.

  7. Cost (shipping of components isn't cheap and usually comes from the mainland... plus, everything has to go through Oahu ports first before heading to any of the neighbor islands, which adds to the time/cost) , (possible) lack of experienced/trained local contractors (just my guess) , & (most definitely) the red tape to get proper permits. As a business, Sprint needs to make sure the markets with the most subscribers are taken cared of first. Maybe Sprint isn't so popular there... A lot of my family and friends there use Verizon/AT&T.

Like I said a few months ago... Hawaii is usually always last to get stores, services and in this case LTE from Sprint. Sure the competition has LTE there, but I'm sure they focused mainly on the mainland first before heading here. At least, quoting Robert, there is Wimax to use in the meantime.

If anyone here was expecting a quick LTE expansion there then well... I'd say history is repeating itself as the Wimax launch was sluggish and it looks to have happened again with LTE. Let's hope the quoted Feb 2014, hopefully sooner, is really when things start happening.
