  1. @Varneyco Surprised you didn't mention the refineries in PA. True, they can't take up the loss from the gulf, but they do maintain the NE.

  2. Just wanted to let everyone know about the Jamestown area. 4G was spotty, at best up until about a week ago, when both speed and signal strength went WAY up (so much so that I get better speed from 4G than from WiFi in my own apartment). Some areas of Lakewood (just to the west) are also 4G, but the network there is acting the way downtown did through much of last month, so I expect it to be up and running full-time by mid-January. Areas to the east and south of the city, however, remain stubbornly 2G, with a few spots of 3G, as is a small gap between Jamestown and Lakewood on Fairmount Avenue. As I haven't been very far north of downtown lately, I am unable to report about the area near and north of I-86. If you take a look at the map at Sensorly, you'll see a nice blob of purple. Probably 90% of that is from my phone. I'll keep everyone advised as the network expands.

Just wanted to update everyone on 4G in the Jamestown, NY area (in the Buffalo market). 4G was spotty, at best up until about a week ago, when both speed and signal strength went WAY up (so much so that I get better speed from 4G than from WiFi in my own apartment). 4. Well, they've finally brought 3G to the Jamestown area with an upgrade to the Lakewood/West Ellicott tower, but the downtown Jamestown tower is still stuck in 2G land. Still, my phone did indicate 4G a few days ago just down the street from my apartment, and there was 4G in the parking lot of Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron, so I'm hoping the area will go 4G soon.
  5. Never mind, I found the dialer sequence for Field Test mode (which is essentially what the screenshots show above).
  6. So they're leaving us down here in the Southern Tier for last... as usual.
  7. At the risk of sounding like a complete n00b... which, when it comes to Android, I am, how does one bring up the engineering screen on a HTC EVO 4G LTE?
  8. Thanks for the update. I just hope they start work here in the Southern Tier. I haven't seen any Sprint presence in quite a while...
  9. And I see there's still no love for Upstate NY West (i.e. Buffalo market). We're still stuck in 2G land... Not only that, but Sprint has closed all of its brick and mortar retail operations. They closed every Sprint Store within the search area, and none of their retail partners are selling phones here anymore. I'm skeered...
  10. Any updates on the Buffalo market? I'll be upgrading to a 4G LTE phone in July (HTC EVO, since I can't quite afford one of those beautiful aluminum HTC Ones...) and would love to know I'll be able to use it to its full extent here in Jamestown...
  11. Yeah, I figured it was something like that. If the local guys aren't spouting total BS (and all the complainers' observations pan out), they'll start down in the Southern Tier (which is good for me, since I live in Jamestown) and leave the City of Buffalo proper for last. If it's the other way around, then I'll be stuck in 2G land for a loooooooooooooooong time...
  12. I do hope so. The local guys did say our speeds down here in Chautauqua County would be better than Buffalo for much of the year...
  13. And not a single mention of the Buffalo market, even though the local guys say we're supposed to have it by October...
  14. I have entered the AXE Space Academy for a chance to actually fly to space! #inspace https://t.co/qw62bofF
