It doesn't affect me as I have no desire for the 64 GB unit, but I think it stinks for those on Sprint & T-Mobile that AT&T were able to pull an exclusive such as this. I wish HTC still had the market pull to resist these types of variations, and hopefully this phone will be the start of a big turnaround for them. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the 64 GB version eventually makes their way into the T-Mobile & Sprint product lines.

I keep trying to pick up LTE in these areas, but it just seems like my phone doesn't have the ability to grab the weaker signals like the SGS3 & especially the Note 2. This is the only drawback to the EVO LTE unit that I've noticed, but I'm still upgrading to the HTC One when it comes out. It seems to have a more robust LTE antenna although I guess only time will tell on that.

I had to check it right away because I'm impatient. Yes, it is a setting you can toggle on/off.

Also, this is what the screen looks like. It is a great tool to use and complements Sensorly very nicely IMO.

If I have SignalCheck as my primary screen, it keeps the screen lit. It doesn't have to be primary to work, and you can force the screen off by clicking the power button, but it will keep it on if you leave it up top.

Actually, I think that's an adjustable setting? I'll have to check my phone in the morning.

Yes it does, and unlike Sensorly, it stays fully lit. Ever since I've downloaded it, I've left it running on my screen with Sensorly (and Waze since I'm a huge map nerd) running in the background.

Most of my mapping was done on foot or public transportation.

For all of you driving..... PLEASE be careful.

We're all anxious for that glimmer of 4G to appear in our notifications and from what I'm reading I'm afraid some of you are spending more time looking at your phones than the road.

Thanks for the concern. I use the SignalCheck Pro app which plays a series of chimes when LTE is picked up. My phone is mounted on my windshield with a vacuum phone mount, and the app has easily visible color-coded signal strength bars for each antenna. If I hear the chime, I can easily check on the signal at a quick glance, or I usually check Sensorly when I stop or arrive home.

Well, nothing again in Bensalem, but I picked LTE for about 2 seconds on the PA Turnpike in the vicinity of Second Street Pike in Southampton. Hey, at least it's something! That's my first time grabbing a signal off that local tower.

4G is back on in Southampton today!

It looks like you mapped on the Turnpike? I'm leaving now, hopefully I can pick up something in a few spots on my way home from Bensalem to Willow Grove.

Sitting in Friendly's on Street Road in Bensalem my wife's EVO LTE picked up 4G for a while around 8:00 tonight.

Awesome, I've been trying to pick up LTE on Street Rd in Bensalem every day for the past 2 weeks! I can't wait until my commute to work tomorrow.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to pick it up this morning. I'll keep trying...I know there's an LTE tower in the area so it's supposed to be active.

I had this for about a month or so in a particular spot after Hurricane Sandy decimated the Sprint network here. Not the same issue I'm sure unless you had recent storm damage to your local tower. The good news though is 3G data speeds increased 5x or more after the tower was repaired. So I assume NV upgrades were done during repairs? Hopefully that's the same for you. The same area now has an LTE accepted NV tower but I have yet to pick up an LTE signals from it. I'll keep trying!

It's definitely there! Between that & South Philly near the stadiums, there is definitely more progress being made!

Something kinda odd. Been in Manhattan all day, all over Manhattan. If you look at Sensorly it shows LTE all over the place here. I have not picked it up once. Updated prl and went through the normal steps all day. Nothing. What gives... No love for a philly phone. I'll take some screen shots tomorrow.

I had this issue in Baltimore back in December. I was really excited to use LTE but no luck all day. I dropped the phone in water two days later so I never had a chance to figure out why. My replacement EVO LTE from Asurion had no issues picking up LTE a few weeks later in North Jersey while driving between Philadelphia & New York.

I don't get this at all, I am pulling my hair out at this reception but the weird part is now I never got these speeds at my desk I was lucky to get .15 down and up but if you look at the last 3 results I am getting over 1Mbps down, it went above 2Mbps all 3 times and stayed at 1.8 for a bit but settled down. Those speeds at 1 bar seem a little off to me, almost like my signal bars are off?

 

 

After I downloaded an Android app called SignalCheck (see the link to the thread about it at the bottom), I realized that the bars don't really give you an accurate depiction of network speed. There isn't an iPhone version of the app and I don't think iOS gives you any access to the kind of data this app provides, but the speeds you're showing are definitely in the NV-upgraded eHRPD range. On other NV towers, I've been seeing consistent speeds from 1 Mbps up through or just above 2.5 Mbps. If I'm farther from these towers, I still see the higher speeds in short bursts, but there is no consistency to it whatsoever. Upload speeds seem to bounce all over the place no matter where I am.

I just thought I'd share my experience in the same general area so you didn't think you were going crazy. Also, I have passed by the Fort Washington tower at least 5 times over the past 2 weeks, both on the PA Turnpike and on Rt 309, and I can't pick up the signal either. I have a feeling many of the towers in the areas currently have LTE turned off.

Maybe I should know this, but what is the LTE Cell ID that comes up? How do I cross-reference it with the tower info we have here?

I personally like Sprint, based on their businesses and customer decisions(being stuck on 3G is frustrating though) compared to VZW n ATT

This is very true in my area, as Comcast with Xfinity and Verizon with FiOS have been waging battle on Comcast's home turf for several years now. The result? I have 50/15 Mbps home internet bundled with phone & tv (including HBO & Starz) on Xfinity for less than $100 per month. No chance I have anything close to that without a solid competitor. I've been loyal to Sprint / Nextel for that very reason; they offer top line phones with good coverage & the best data plans at a bargain price. I don't need the fastest speeds or biggest network. I want exactly what Sprint provides...good service at a great price.

I caught a surprise LTE signal in the Glenside/Jenkintown area today, at the intersection of Jenkintown Rd & Highland Ave. It was near other mapped areas, but all those towers have appeared dormant this past week. I also caught an LTE signal at 69th Ave & Old York Rd just over the Philadelphia border. I carried it throughout Broad & Olney, where the signal strength hit -48 dBm (!) before I dropped it just before the Boulevard. I had LTE up the Boulevard, Whitaker Ave then Algon Ave just before Rhawn St. It appears that most of the towers in the northern suburbs are restricted while the ones in North Philadelphia are still in operation. Is the network split up into geographic blocks?

LTE activation seems to have taken a step back, but the NV tower in downtown Willow Grove has been consistently showing 3G speeds around 2.5 Mbps down/1.5 down for the past week. If Network Vision consistently provides that kind of performance, then LTE isn't all that critical for my needs.

I drove right next to the Neshaminy HS water tower yesterday where LTE was accepted last week and toggled airplane mode a few times. No LTE on my EVO. Did they turn it off? I still have yet to see my device catch any LTE signal .

This morning, I was picking up a weak LTE signal on the PA Turnpike from just past Second Street Pike in Southampton all the way to my exit @ the Street Rd slip ramp in Bensalem. It wasn't any stronger than -116 dBm, and it was also intermittent. Once I got on Street Rd eastbound, I lost it before I reached Parx. It's there, but it wan't enough for my phone to switch over since the EVDO signal was very strong.

I've been running the SignalCheck Pro app, and I am definitely seeing a lack of LTE signal around the towers I mapped last week. The only signal I've seen all week was a VERY weak, intermittent toggle between -122 dBm and No Connection around the tower in the Abington / Meadowbrook area.

I have yet to catch any signal at all around several other LTE approved towers in Lower Bucks (Southampton, Neshaminy & Bensalem). Driving the PA Turnpike and Street Rd every day, those 3 towers should definitely be well within range, but I don't see anything. All in due time...silver lining, speeds & coverage on EVDO are really good for the most part. I've been seeing speeds at or above 1Mbps almost everywhere between Willow Grove & Bensalem.

Please let this be true...

I was at the local Sprint store tonight checking out the Note. I have to say, I really like it. As a diehard HTC user, I would jump on an HTC-branded 'phablet'. I would buy it on launch day no hesitation.

I can't imagine this phone hits the stores anytime in March...they really do need to get it out there ASAP to take advantage of several weeks without competing with the S4. I really love the HTC products, I think they're better than any other Android manufacturers in many respects, but I fear they will continue to hemorrhage market share against the Samsung marketing powerhouse.

Has anyone been able to get an LTE signal in Warminster beyond the first few days?

I drove to Hellertown today and sat in a parking lot right next to the tower, cycled airplane mode a few times, and got nothing!! Either it was turned off or I didn't wait long enough... I had an appointment to get to and couldn't wait more than a few minutes.

Is the device description in your profile accurate? Because if so, your Shift won't connect to the LTE network. Your 4G network is known as WiMax.
