  1. There is a new tower being built on the top of a stadium light at Showalter Field in Winter Park, but the guy working on it said it was a Metro PCS / TM tower...darn.
  2. The tower work could very much be done, or they could still need to swap out the equipment at the base of the tower since NV includes replacing the entire base station hardware as well as the new antennas. However, I doubt Sprint will turn on any tower until the backhaul can support LTE speeds. If they turned it on prior to improving the backhaul, customers would be complaining of LTE speeds that were no better than the current abysmal 3G speeds.
  3. Low backhaul means poor data speeds because there is not enough bandwidth. They increase bandwidth by converting from T1 lines to fiber optic, which is like going from original DSL to Roadrunner turbo/lightning. In fact, many carriers are using the fiber optic networks owned by cable companies to increase their backhaul so that customers can get higher speeds during peak times.
  4. There was no LTE west of Park Ave in WP last night, other than that blip between th PD and the golf course. The night LTE was active from WP Towers, I got a low signal on the lake side of Rollins. I wasn't Abe to check the Howell Branch or Aloma areas.
  5. I couldn't get any LTE from the Glenridge & Lakemont area this morning, though I got a short-lived one bar near the WP golf course on Park Ave. No matter what direction I drove, I couldn't get it back. There is a sprint tower behind the WP police department according to Sprint's tower upgrade map.
  6. Just got one bar of LTE on Crystal Lake, just south of the East-West expressay...only 0.4 download. It was gone about a half mile later heading south. Since I was traveling north to south on Crystal Lake, the tower must have been east or west of the area.
  7. Drove from Glenridge & Lakemont, to General Rees & Glenridge, to WP Rd & Glenridge and I got some impressive results at 3 am, which I'm sure has minimal load on the tower. At Lakemont: 22.21 down and 7.8 up At General Rees: 12.24 down and 3.78 up At WP Rd: 4.26 down and 0.29 up I didn't switch back to 3G until Glenco Rd & W Lake Sue. This is the first I've seen in WP and the area of Glenridge & WP Rd has typically been a black hole where I've been lucky to get 0.10 at best. Now I'm excited...first time seeing LTE on my iPhone.
  8. Couldn't see the tower because of the tree line, but they must be working on the tower just east of Conway, off of Hoffner today. I was approximately 200 yards away and I was getting weird readings between 2:30 - 3pm. I could only manage 2-3 bars, sometimes NONE. I would also have it flip between 3G and the o sign. It was as though this tower was down and I was pulling a poor signal from the next closest tower. But then, the area around this tower had went from 1.0 Mbs speed to .20 Mbs the past month or two.
  9. Having a Verizon LTE JetPack through work, it is nothing to brag about in the Conway area or in the Winter Park area. At home in Conway, the download speed is less than 1 Mbs, and in Winter Park, it is between 3 Mbs and .3 Mbs...depending upon where you are at. It's a black hole near the high school.
  10. I was having dropped calls and delayed voicemails. Now I have 5 bars instead 1, and friends with Sprint can now use their phones in my house without me having to enter my secure wifi info into their phones. Sprint provided it for free because of the issues I started having.
  11. Slightly off topic...Airave arrived yesterday and after some issues of getting a GPS lock and unexplained iPhone 5 issues pulling the expected data speeds, it has definitely improved the 3G experience throughout my home in Conway. Not an LTE fix, but it is a nice bandaid until NV upgrades are available in the Conway area.
  12. Not sure it is Sprint, as they have the tower at Fairbanks & I-4, and another behind the Publix South of Fairbanks & 17-92. Both appear to have the LTE panels with the six cable leads coming out the bottom of each. I'll drive down Clay tomorrow night and check it out while at work.
  13. If you qualify, they will send you the Airave for free and the only monthly cost is a maximum of $3.00 in taxes since it is considered and additional line. They waived the cost ($150), the monthly service fee ($5), and it includes free UPS shipping. When I called last Friday, I was advised that they have about a 5-7 day backorder on them. Hopefully this will solve my issues while making and receiving calls / voicemails at my house. If / when they get LTE working in my area, if I no longer need the Airave they will send a package to me to return the Airave for free as well.
  14. The Conway area has gotten worse the past two weeks as well. Conway and Hoffner used to get 1 MB+ three weeks ago, but now averages 0.3 MB. I'm now getting dropped calls and voicemails take forever to download. Sprint is sending me an Airave to help, as where I live is even worse.
  15. It could that the towers are being completed before the back haul upgrades are done. No point in turning towers on if they don't have the bandwidth to actually deliver LTE speeds. If they were to turn them on prior to being able to handle the capacity, then there would be complaints about dismal LTE speeds. Just a guess though, based on how poor 3G speeds have been for the past two years.
  16. I live in Conway, so I'll have took for it. But if it is ear Hoffner & Conway, it definitely has not been turned on since I only get 3G there.
  17. I've had no luck locating the area on I-4, between Fairbanks and Princeton. Everything between Winter Park and OIA seems to be an LTE void. Not much 3G either.
