  1. I don't think pings make any difference regardless of how many people are using the network, on 4g at least. I had low pings at the stadium

How's browsing Web pages with low ping but low speeds? Decent?

  2. Yeah I tried that , but I didn't have a code at the moment so he took the phone & restored it right away . The guy got me when I was getting on the bus , I had my phone out cause my metro card was in the case so I had it in my hand then WOOP its gone , I chased him for a couple blocks but he was faster (probably did it before) & I lost him , called the cops & there currently tracking it through GPS . If they find it then ill just give it to my mom & keep the new one that shes about to buy me .

Wow snatch and run. He was definitely scoping your phone out. Lesson learned. Use a security code and always be aware of your surroundings. When I get a bad feeling on the bus or train I just pocket my phone and keep to my business. I've had a guy come from over my should asking me to make a call and when I said no he demanded and threaten me in broad daylight with people around. I walked right across the street to a cop I had noticed. He bounced out of there pretty quick.

Back on topic, I tried mapping on Saturday night in the Meatpacking District area. No 4G there so far. I've actually been leaving my LTE off a lot of times unless I'm driving around or in a new area and curious. I've noticed better battery life which is expected.

  3. Wahhhh I hate thieves , Someone stole my phone , my poor iPhone 5 come back to me :'(

Damn. Sorry to hear. Taken right from you or when you weren't looking? And you tried the "Find my iPhone" app I'm guessing.

AJ said in a post before (I'm too lazy to go find it) 1x is part of CDMA2000 and so is EVDO. CDMAone is the 2G technology, and there is virtually none of that yet. Sprint isn't wrong in putting 1x as 3G, it is just stuper slow 3G.

Ah. Thanks for clarifying. I guess it's easier for the everyday consumer. It's already confusing enough for people to see 4G HSPA+ and 4G LTE.

Lol. What phone do u have that has 2g?

Don't all or most phones still have 2G (1x)? From what I remember, latest Androids by HTC and Samsung still display 3G even though it's actually connected to 1x. I see it on CyanogenMod.

  6. All the switching from 3G to 2G to LTE is killing my battery... Anyone have any suggestion to saving battery while we wait for NV to stabilize?

I leave LTE off until needed. Luckily, with my ROM there's no need to restart. I know TouchWiz needs to.

  7. LTE getting just a little stronger now where I'm at in the Upper East Side. Didn't get anything above 72nd and 1st. I'm at 74th and 1st and getting RSRP -104dBm according to Sensorly details. Speeds are decent by the window with 37ms, 2.48/0.81. Seems to be already mapped in Sensorly too.

NV is great but I'm having some trouble on the Upper East Side. I live right on the edge of LTE coverage and my phone just constantly flips between e-HRPD and LTE. It KILLS battery! It kills me to change to CDMA only mode when I've waited so long... Can't wait till the coverage expands indoors! But on the street, the speeds are great! 25mbps down, 13mbps up!

Are you just above 72nd street and 1st? That where it's cutting off for me. The switching back and forth is a growing pain but I take that over nothing.

The old version did a good job of wasting data for thousands of users that like to measure their....

As you folks get older you will come to your senses and quickly realize it doesn't matter what the car looks like but how well does it work.

  10. You guys love that speedtest app. I could care less what it looked like. They need to make one that uses a very small amount of data and only takes 2 seconds to run.

2 seconds doesn't sound like enough time to get an accurate number. I'm always down for UI changes but being able to log into my account is what I really want.

  11. I think the only thing t-mobile and sprint have in common right now is truly unlimited data. Is that the only reason all of you are on sprint? This question is for everyone! That's the reason I am. (The only reason)

Been with Sprint since March 2001 and never felt the need to switch. Price has been fine and service was always good where I've needed it. I've been through the good and bad service times and now it looks like great times is on the way.

  12.

From the 39th street bridge down skillman towards laguardia, and from 39th street to queens blvd to about 45th street i think

I know that exact area. I'm at LaGuardia once a week. They need to improve 3G there as well.

  13. Probably more testing. The good thing is that we know work is happening, we see it in the reports.

More testing in the 11432 area too. Down time again. Now when it's like this, would they be at the actual tower working in the panels or more likely just doing computer stuff from off site?

  14. Guys, is it possible to post up resized pictures of the speedtests and such? It's becoming hard to browse this thread on mobile devices.

Or just manually type in the speeds you get?

Do you use an app for the forums? Resizes in Tapatalk so it's not overwhelming.

  15. Is there an app i can download (android) that will show which tower i am connected to? I tried one in the past but it didn't work. I assume that it will connect to another tower that is two blocks away when i'm in my apartment tho. I will do a signal strength test later as well.

I had tried Signal Finder but have switched to OpenSignal.

  16. Become S4GRU Sponsors, guys, and you could see maps and statistics depicting the progress of Network Vision deployment.

    AJ

I was wondering how. Thanks. And I read up on the memberships on The Bulletin Board.

So back on topic, one of the more fascinating components of the NV project for NYC is seeing the new panels being bolted on buildings. I've found myself driving around Queens and even in Midtown looking at the panels and trying to guess if they were Sprint or not.

I'm definitely going to keep an eye out now that I read the thread about how to spot them. Looks like it takes some practice though.
