  1. Wish someone would come up with an app like I had for my Blackberry phone before going over to the Note 2 called Signal Loc. That signal loc app for the blackberry phone was a cool app that helped me locate the broadcasting Sprint tower and even roaming tower locations and then saved it to my SD card in a file and then exported it out to google maps to see a wider range of where I traveled and where all the towers it found. If only someone could create an app for the Android OS system for people like me that love going out and finding cell towers like that I would jump right on it and download that app for my phone here.

  2. Forgive my ignorance, but what's MT?

    Also, I'd love to see them fill coverage holes in major markets like NYC first. Especially once you leave the city, coverage goes down the drain.

    I know 1x on 800 will really help, just wish they could do data as well.

    MT = Montana

    I'm looking forward to when Sprint uses that 800MHz SMR band to fill in as much as they can with it to reduce that roaming cause I just hate being on that slow a** 1x network via VZW & any other carriers including Sprint's own 1x network when doing the simple things on the web.

  3. Thanks AJ for the info. So, basicly Sprint can't expand coverage due to the low turnout of people in those areas. Thought a while back that Sprint had some coverage areas in MT that they could use that 1900/800MHz in those areas. Did they lose those areas or what? It would be real nice to see Sprint use those areas in those states to improve or reduce their roaming cost and just maybe withthe help of Softbank's money they can just slowly put up some towers mostly in the 800MHz band since Nextel never had coverage in those areas and to show current & future customers they want their business as they travel like truck drivers and reg people cuz I for one can sure use that expanded area to talk to atleast 50 to 100 more people I know and thru those people to come on board with Sprint.

    Just a thought I guess.

  4. Cost/benefit analysis. The cost to deploy in those low population density areas would be immediate. The benefit might not pay off for a decade or longer.

    If you dream of Sprint building out a nationwide geographic footprint, dream on. No carrier in the US has ever even remotely accomplished that standard. VZW and AT&T seemingly come close but only because they have bought out numerous other carriers.

    Thanks AJ for your info or insight on that and gives me a wide eye open on why that is. Who is the main providers for wireless in those areas there?

  5. They will add more CDMA 800 soon. They expedited the iDEN channel clearing in some places because of FIT's and call drop problems (ala Chicago). DC and Baltimore have CDMA 800 being deployed now in many places. And this is probably because iDEN is already cleared off Channel 476 in that area. Sprint may have more areas add CDMA 800 now if they get into a pinch. Otherwise, they will probably just wait until July 1st to start turning them on a larger scale.

    Robert, Do you know or any of your insiders know if Sprint has any spectrum they can use for 1900/800MHz in say MT, ND/SD, WY, NE in those area so Sprint can reduce their cost of roaming in those areas. I thought the iDEN spectrum had a nationwide coverage that would include those states or so. If that that is the case and if the 1900MHz PCS spectrum that Sprint has, why or what is the reason behind not filling in those areas so Sprint can again reduce the roaming cost there?

    Thanks
