Frankly, if you have decent wifi in the house, I think that is preferable over the AirRave. Of course, that only works with newish smartphones.

Well, I'll be up in Mandan, ND this weekend. If anything has changed, I'll let you all know.

That's kind of odd since they are still adding locations, but it has been a few years since i was on the road so you would know better than I. Its good to hear that Sprint coverage in the midwest is good. That's where I had the most issues. I would have no coverage west of Salinas Kansas Until I got close to Denver and no coverage through most of Wyoming.
I'd say Kansas and Colorado are more West than Midwest.

That, or they're going to sit out the auction altogether, which I hope is not the case!
Frankly, depending on what the spectrum costs, and the need to densify for capacity anyhow, it may make more sense to just densify the network rather than buying more and more spectrum. I get the impression that Sprint will only bid if the prices are right. They, unlike T-Mobile, have < 1Ghz spectrum in pretty much all markets.

Anyone know if there is or will be an RRPP parter in North Georgia specifically in Clayton, GA (Rabun County)?
I see there is a carrier that appears to be more Central GA called PS Data Wireless but that seems to be it. Didn't know if anyone knew anything else.
Also, are all of these RRPP partners providing just data, or will there be voice as well?
Can't answer the Georgia question, but true RRPP partners have to build out a Sprint compatible network. However, some CCA members than have opened up roaming to Sprint aren't a part of the RRPP per say, they just signed onto the CCA roaming hub. The roaming hub creates a market for roaming that doesn't require carriers to all do individual roaming deals with each other.

Yeah, the area is VDSL2 now and the offerings are still that way.
FTTN with copper to the home. DSL does suck. You are only 1/3 a mile from the box, thus you can say GREAT. You get 1, 2 , 3 miles from that box, speed sucks, no TV service. Think about it, that isn't a long distance at all. Put yourself 2 to 3 miles from that box and see if you'll say "GREAT" again.
Yeah, but you can add a lot of DSLAMs for the cost of ripping out existing copper lines and running fiber. Certainly if you were laying down new lines, then yes, fiber makes more sense, but we are talking about companies with lots of existing money spend on their infrastructure. The point is that you CAN provide decent speeds over DSL, you just need to have enough DSLAMs.

Anyone know how Motorola is with their bootloaders? I like to root/tamper with my devices. Is this easy on Sprint Moto phones?
EDIT: Why does this support B17? Is there a carrier in the CCA/RRPP that'll be using B17?
Band 17 is just a subset of Band 12, and supporting band 17 means they can sell this model to ATT as well.

Are there any RRPP partners in North Dakota? I know there were some rumblings a while back about a possible Sprint buildout but I don't know what became of that...
SRT was mentioned in the initial presentation in march, which would be in the Minot area. But I haven't heard anything new on Sprint and ND coverage recently. I'll be out in the Bismarck area in mid August, so we'll see if anything is shaking then.

Yes, up to 4x4MIMO, but the CDMA shutdown is a longs ways off.
Oh, I realize that CDMA on PCS won't be going away until the 2020s. But it's nice to think that we will be getting an improvement in cell edge performance, speed, and capacity once that happens.
Only if they deploy a second PCS antenna / rru setup per sector or completely shut down any and all CDMA 1900 services.

If I am not mistaken Sprint can't do 4x2 MIMO on PCS due to transmission path sharing with 1x/EVDO.
Once Sprint transitions PCS to LTE only, they should be able to do higher order MIMO then with the existing equipment then?
If so, that would be a significant improvement in reception, speed, and capacity!

Oh, wow, really? I guess that's what happens when I comment about matters that I'm not entirely knowledgeable about. Oops.

Just because they SHOULDN'T doesn't mean they won't. Sacrificing usable coverage for some addition speed on a speed test seems like typical "Data Strong" marketing. Consistency is much more important than having the fasted peak speed, IMHO.

Sprint can't let TMUS get USCC. However, they could agree to divest USCC's 700Mhz spectrum if they bought them. That would certainly ease the financial pain. And the 700Mhz is owned by King Street anyhow, so it would be easy to separate that business out.
