Just got an SMS stating they are adding Netflix On Us.

I didn't get that text.  I did follow the link and it was a FAQ about Amazon.  Basically that you are on your own starting April 1st.   There was one line that was interesting,  it mentions rate changes.

You will receive a separate text message to alert you of when your new rate-plan offer is available, including instructions to redeem.

I have Advantage Unlimited Premium which currently includes Amazon Prime.

Premium used to just show Amazon as another line item it includes.  Now it's been separated out as a distinct item at zero cost extra.  I guess that will make it easy to just delete it on the 30th at midnight.

Interesting that Hulu and TIDAL HiFi currently both show as included although I think that Hulu might have been a stand alone before.  I am pretty sure that it's new for Amazon

Any updates on coverage at the San Diego airport? I know the last time I was there it wasn't very good. Also any updates in Pacific Beach? Coverage at my father's place is pretty bad. Better than his Verizon service though.

I was at the airport going and coming from CES in Vegas just a few weeks ago.  Coverage was very good.

What intersection or landmark in  PB is near your father's?

  3. I had SIM errors on my phone too.  It was intermittent and got more and more frequent.  I researched a bit and found other people on various carriers that had similar problems.   Solution was simple as recommended by others.  I took it to a Sprint store and told them that the SIM card was bad.  They replaced it free and I've not had another problem since.  That was over a year ago.

These sim/network errors are getting really annoying, just spent 15 minutes ejecting the sim and then restarting the phone and then ##72786# a few times... Finally back on LTE, don't know for how long though... About to contact Sprint, this is not cool.

  4. Yes but power save mode is not on for Pandora or iHeart

i think i may have found the issue...I've had power save mode on and it always seemed to cut out when the screen dimmed and goes black or when i push the button to make it go to sleep..i turned off the power save feature and started up pandora and pushed the power button to make it go to sleep and it kept playing and hasn't stopped. it didn't do that before the update when i had the power save mode active. to the guy with the issue with the alarm, did you have the power save mode turned on?

  5. I was under the impression that Sprint updates like this one do not count against data use similar to calls to customer service not being counted against your minutes.

...The update will count as regular data use, it just may not have been showing up yet.

  6. Yes, I am encountering streaming issues since the 6.0.1 update.   I typically have an iHeart alarm for a news channel and then about 7 minutes later I have a Pandora music alarm scheduled that stops the news and starts music.  Now neither one of them works properly, if at all.  Sometimes if I pick the silent phone up to look at it then one or the other will start up but they don't do it without physical contact.  I have cleared and reset the alarms but it hasn't helped.   Next I'll try uninstalling the apps.

anyone having trouble with streaming music from pandora or Amazon prime? it plays one song then stops. i then have to open the app and hit skip or close out the app all the way and reopen it and then it may play one or two more songs before stopping again. this is through my WiFi which is connected and had a good speed test. any suggestions?

  7. Wow, that's a long time.  Mine took 13 minutes

Last night I tried to download Marshmallow to my Note 4 and was told it would take 9+ hr.s...  I figured I'd just plug it in overnight and let it go.  Unfortunately my signal at home degraded so much, I kept getting download failed messages.  When I gave up late at night, it said 19% complete  09:29:30 to complete...

SignalCheckPro shows LTE 1900  bouncing around between -111 and -104 every few seconds.  These results are consistant.

I solved my download problem by going near a known tower in OB to get my Marshmallow update in only 2 1/2hr.s.

I would be REALLY POd at Sprint if any of my friends got better reception in my part of Pt. Loma, but their reception is generally worse with other carriers.

Yes, I've tried Airave- for unknown reasons it doesn't help.  Good reason to keep up my land line.

  8. I was really impressed that you got it to work so I decided to try again after a few earlier failures. No joy. I couldn't get it to work at a 76 station no matter what angle I tried.

It is fun to watch people's faces when it works great on some old timey terminal in a tiny store.  Sort of a blank stare.

That law was broken on this day then hehehe.

  9. It's new to me and I check fairly often.  I didn't check for CA but the speed was around 30 so most likely not.  BTW - Yes, I know the building across the intersection from the post office, diagonally.

Is this a new B41 site?  Did you pick up CA from this site?  Most newly deployed B41 sites are being activated with 2nd carrier and CA ready rock!

Much needed B41 in that area which serves part of the beach.  This site is located on Cass St/Emerald St.

  10. Nope.  In past years I used to routinely get Sprint service as far south as Revolución and Constitución.  I usually always had a signal in that long wait at the border before crossing back into the USA if someone had driven.  I once got a signal at a cliff front cafe on the ocean about 20 miles south of TJ. I imagine I had perfect conditions that day a long time ago.  Now I would most likely be on roaming at the same spot.

Sprint was non existent past the pedestrian bridge over I-5 right before the interstate ends and veers left into Mexico almost a year ago. I had a very similar experience with calls and 1x SMS not going through right before I lost the sprint signal near the outlets.

Has Sprint always deliberately kept their signal away from Tijuana/MX? I know they don't in some parts of Texas.

  11. That's a big improvement from last August when I last went to a game there.  Service was close to non-existent then.

    PETCO Park last night

Considering there was about 30,000 at the game I was actually pretty impressed with the download speed.

  12. Good news! Sprints permit was approved to begin work. Hopefully it's starts soon and comes with B41!

    I sure hope so.

Both locations are owned by the same local hotel operator so it's possible that the holdup is with the building's management.  A similar nearby location on the roof of the tallest area building was completed last year. That hotel is also a hotel but owned by a different group.  It required extensive trenching, rooftop remodeling and construction of an exterior equipment building where the fiber enters Mission Bay Park.

  13. I realize that this is an older post but I guess experience varies in TJ.  I have been there many times and usually have Sprint native CDMA signal as far as the arch on Revolution and a bit farther.  It can be an issue inside buildings down the hill, North of the arch. Constitution and Revolution are about the same. I once got a decent signal on a patio overlooking the ocean in Puerto Nuevo which is way south of Tijuana.

These days, a newer phone like the Samsung Galaxy S5 or S6 gets a constant signal all of the way to Cabo via roaming.  Ain't it sweet?  This is true in coastal waters at sea too.

I can attest to EVDO roaming as well (verified with SignalCheck Pro). I recently went to San Diego, CA and when I got within 1000 feet of the border (the I-5 & I-805 interchange), I roamed on EVDO with Cricket. What was most interesting about the entire experience was that once I was in Tijuana, Sprint and Verizon were non existent (my buddy's Verizon phone went into Intl roaming right after crossing). It was all Cricket EVDO in Avenida Revolucion. I guess Sprint uses a directional pattern in the Cali/MX border because in Texas, I've been able to cross into Mexico and still have a usable sprint signal.
