  1. I have the stock firmware.  I still am not able to see the GCI with yesterday's update.  I forgot to send the report when I was over there yesterday (I sent one last week though).  I'll send another one later today.  Also, I'll try some other towers when I go down to Denver this weekend.

I sent a report late in the day on the 23rd and just sent another one within the last hour (both with "dwilson6 on s4gru" in the username/email field).  I went to a few sites in Fort Collins and no GCI was shown at any of them.

  2. Yep I've seen your work around that area before.

Got some good 4g in new places in FoCo the last 2 days on Taft, wasn't mapping due to the game, but nice surprise. I need it to go live in old Town since I work up there some weeks. Very exciting developments.

Were you getting 4G on a tri-band phone or was it on the HTC One you have in your profile?  I might have to go do some mapping out there.  I get traces of LTE (band 25) from my apartment but it only lasts a couple seconds and has a really weak signal strength.  Its likely coming from the tower just south of the CSU campus.

  3. Are you stock, or on a custom ROM? Next time you connect to LTE and don't see information, go to About > Send Diagnostics; it will send me some useful information. There is a new app update that went out overnight that does include some fixes for HTC LTE functions, so that might resolve it also.

  4. Thanks for the update, glad it is finally available. I still am not able to see the GCI for that site. SignalCheck says that the GCI is invalid or missing when I try to add a note. I will try to make it over to another LTE site sometime soon, but I suspect that you are correct that it is something with that specific site being misconfigured.

I was able to go to another LTE site and it's GCI wasn't showing either on my HTC One.  I have the latest Signal Check update installed.

  5. I don't want to jinx it.. but let's just say that the way things are looking, you should be counting in hours, not days..

  6. I received your report, thanks.. are you sure you have seen other GCIs on that version of Android? The error I saw in the log is related to a new HTC security permission that I believe got added with the KitKat update, and isn't in the public version of the app yet (it's in the beta that is in testing now).

I'm not sure. It could have been before the KitKat update. Do you have a rough time-frame on the update currently in beta being released? I saw something about mid-April on your website, is that correct?

  7. Hmm, is it just on that site or on all sites? I did discover some minor bugs with the HTC routines tonight, but they typically resulted in the GCI being displayed twice, not missing completely. Next time you see that issue, please go to About > Send Diagnostics and send me a report. Be sure to put your username or e-mail address in there and include the reason for the report (I receive dozens a day), that should show me what's going on. Perhaps the site is misconfigured and the app is hiding what it perceives to be an invalid GCI.

    -Mike

I'm pretty sure I've seen the GCI before on other sites but there aren't too many LTE sites in my area.  I'll try to make it over to one of the other active sites in the south part of Fort Collins.  And yes, I'll send the report next time I see that behavior.

This is on a Saturday at Countyline and University or University and 470. Confirmed Sprint. On the side of a building even. Neat.

I'm confused by what they are doing at that site. I've watched it over the past few months when I've been down in that area (it's near my parents' house). They have swapped out the antennas multiple times.

  9. Well they did fire up a bit of LTE in Fort Collins... maybe they caused a problem when they did that.

    No clue about Highlands.

None of these errors were from today.  I've gotten them over the last month.  I got more errors when I was down in Denver (a month ago) than I tend to get in Fort Collins.  It makes sense that errors would happen as NV is being deployed.

I did notice the LTE tower in Fort Collins on the maps today.  I'm going to pay a visit to the mall when I can.

Here is a screen shot of what I'm talking about. This has been happening constantly ever since I received the Spark update. No data connection??

As far as the data issues, there are a whole host of things that can cause problems. It could be they are beginning to fire up NV sites, or it could be a network hiccup. It's hard to say.

I've had quite a few errors (on a single band device, the HTC One) with a message of 'Unable to establish wireless data connection' and various error codes:

    Error code 67

    LTE: ESM-65535

    LTE: EMM-0

    LTE: ESM-65541

These have been both down in Highlands Ranch and up in Fort Collins (which is already live with 3G network vision).

  11.

Nice, I'll have to do some driving around tomorrow.  I live right near the CSU campus.  3G has gotten better recently (with good reason).  Seeing lots of 1x800 up here.

Do you have any idea which band of LTE you are getting? I don't have a tri-band device.

For some reason you message contents didn't show up here but I saw it in the email notification.  Robert said above that the Spark icon will show for all bands of LTE (which of course is confusing).  I couldn't get any LTE driving around a little bit this morning.  I went on the south side of campus on Prospect and then took shields south.  It could be that they were testing it yesterday or that it is just Band 41 that is active.  Let me know if you get it again.

  12. 1)

Yes, Zayo is handling a bit of the fiber. Most of their connections are from existing network connections to sites. Century Link is also handling quite a bit more connections. It's hard to explain exactly the relationship between the two. Basically, whichever network of fiber is closer gets connected up. Zayo is a bit ahead of CL in this game.

    2)

Highlands Ranch is tricky because they don't allow non-stealth towers. Good luck telling which sites are which.

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to stop by any of the stealth towers recently (which, as you mentioned would not be that useful unless you can see the cabinets).  The couple that I saw aren't technically in Highlands Ranch.  One is on the south-west corner of County Line and University Blvd.  It is a building mounted antenna on the south side of the plastic surgery building.

Does mounting antennas to buildings have some of the same issues as stealth towers?

  13. Unlikely. The fiber to the sites are usually a small operation from the local company node to the site.

Someone posted this link a while ago in this thread: http://www.zayo.com/interactive-map.  It seems to indicate that there is a lot of fiber to be run (or that has been run) so it is possible that it could be Sprint though you (Merlin) would know more than I would.  If there is doubt about whether this is related to Sprint, look at the end of the lines of fiber and you will find Sprint towers.

On another note, I've seen a few towers near my parents' house in Highlands Ranch with new antennas.  Once they go live, hopefully the horrible coverage at my parents' house will improve (they are literally in the center of a ring of towers). They have an airave which helps.

  14. And to think I was *this* close to accepting a job in Fort Collins.

    Where at?

Fort Collins is a great town.  Small town feel, with access to Denver and hourly flights to all corners of the earth hourly.

Yeah, it is a great town, I am a student at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. We were kind of like an island during the flooding.  The only places really affected were by the Poudre river or up in the mountains but all the bridges over the river were closed.  We do need the rain though, it might have just been more helpful to have it be more spread out. :)  It was great to see the community come together to help out.  The Red Cross shelter had too many volunteers at times.  Now the cleanup begins.

  15. All the sites along US 50 between I-25 in Pueblo and Cañon City have been upgraded with new Samsung NV equipment. Every single one. Yet none of these are accepted yet. Colorado may be much farther along than it seems. :fingers: I discovered no LTE nor CDMA 800 though. :td: Robert from Note 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

I just searched on the Douglas, Denver, and Jefferson County websites and found quite a few permits that are likely NV related.  Some of them (from Denver county) I can't tell and I haven't taken the time to check if all of them correlate with Sprint towers (though most of the ones I checked do).

If anyone wants to look for themselves, here's the info.

    Some companies to search for:

    Mountain Wireless Construction Inc

    Mastec Network Solutions LLC

    GENESIS ELECTRIC INC

    ADVANCED WIRELESS SOLUTIONS INC

    INMAN ELECTRICAL SERVICES INC

    TETRA TECH CONSTRUCTION INC

Denver County: there are PDFs on the right hand side under 'permit records for current year', I search the file for 'network' and 'wireless' to find potential permits and then sift through them.  Two companies that have come up a lot are Mountain Wireless Construction Inc and Mastec Network Solutions LLC

    .

Douglas County: search projects with a marketing name of 'Sprint'.  These aren't actual permits, but are a process before building permits.

If you want actual building permits, search by address or contractor here.  The same two companies above have some permits here also.

    Jefferson County (Sprint permits only)
