  1. Thanks for the responses to my Sprint vs. Verizon question.

Sprint is, by far, the least expensive.  I enjoy a significant discount as a business customer.  When talking to Verizon they said the would offer a business discount for 5 lines or more but it still was less than 1/2 of what Sprint is giving me now.

I will most likely stay with Sprint now that the long-promised 4G/LTE is actually coming to fruition.

Is there any concern for Sprint going away from the unlimited data plan?

    Thanks,

    Tracer

Not for years, and even if they did they'd be more generous than the others. It is a big differentiator for Sprint. It is nice, but I have wifi so it isn't a selling point to me.

  2. Posting a bare URL with no elaboration does not explain the relevance. That is why I asked.

FYI, AT&T LTE devices have always been multi band. So, the AT&T variant reveals nothing regarding any upcoming Sprint variant.

Questioning is not the same as being defensive. But Robert has already warned you that your problematic username pegs you as a potential troll. So, expect to have your motives questioned.

Link = troll got it. Try not to be so petty. To make that claim that AT&T's variant reveals nothing regarding Sprint's is extremely short sighted. Do you know everything about every upcoming Sprint phone?

  3. Up until about the last month it has not been bad. But recently I have been getting more and more frustrated. I don't run many speedtests, but quite often I find web pages failing to load and if I do a speedtest it comes back saying .1 mbps even though my phone claims full 3g. My town never got wimax and still isn't listed as an LTE "coming soon" recipient.

Phone price isn't really an issue, but it also makes me a little mad to see Sprint pricing their Galaxy s4 higher than other carriers. And the $100 off deal to new customers really seems like they don't give a #$*& about their existing customers.

It sucks and I strongly question whether it will be different in the next 12 months.

  4. That Sprint is going to deploy the 800 MHz LTE but not sell a phone that can use it is a real mystery. They were selling LTE phones before they had any LTE so I don't know why they'd hold back in this situation. Frustrating. I really wanted the S4. I wonder if Sprint will get a Nexus 5?

  5. I went to my local Verizon store today to check out the LTE phones particularly the Droid DNA phone because I am intrigued with the 5 in screen. I did several LTE speedtests on several phones (Droid DNA, RAZR MAXX, SGS3, SG Note 2) and the average LTE speeds were in the 6-8 Mbps range. This is a far cry from when I first went to that exact same store when the HTC Thunderbolt, Rezound, RAZR MAXX first came out when LTE speeds averaged 20-25 Mbps.

This makes me wonder how soon Verizon really needs to deploy LTE on its AWS spectrum to help alleviate capacity to keep up their lightning fast speeds. Verizon would have its work cut out for them since they need to upgrade its base station equipment to implement LTE-Advanced ready hardware.

I just hope when Sprint LTE is live on every single Sprint tower that I can get a consistent 10-12 Mbps and I will be happy.

Why do you need faster that 6-8 Mbps on a phone?

  6. I vote for you to be the next sprint VP of network expansion. You obviously know how to run fiber to towers way better than the current people making 6 figures to plan and execute network vision.

Maybe the power of positive thoughts will run fiber from Sprint's backbone to the cell sites. Positive thoughts are cheap.

It would be foolish to so quickly to dismiss incompetence and inaction at the highest levels of the company. Obviously we have some ideas that would help Sprint.

  7. Those are extremely confidential numbers. You can get an idea of the relatively size if you can look up the number of blocks of numbers each operator owns in that area. Not accurate but just a ball park estimate. I used to have a link to a website for that info, but I have no idea where it is or whether it is still alive.

The wireless industry thinks everything is confidential and proprietary.

  8. Hello,

I am wondering if anyone knows how the upgrade to LTE Advanced will go? Is it just a software upgrade? Or are they going to have to go to every cell site and do some physical hardware upgrade?

Is it true Sprint is going to move LTE to the 850 mhz spectrum occupied by IDEN when they finally get rid of nextel? Will this require new hardware?

I'm just trying to understand how long it will actually be until sprint has comparable service to ATT and VZ. It looks like its going to be at least 6 months, probably closer to a year.

Thanks for any help you're able to offer.
