We do know how many are complete in each city. It's several. However, to know specifics you need to be a sponsor.
More info about that here: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/517-nv-sites-complete/

Thanks for the responses to my Sprint vs. Verizon question.
Sprint is, by far, the least expensive. I enjoy a significant discount as a business customer. When talking to Verizon they said the would offer a business discount for 5 lines or more but it still was less than 1/2 of what Sprint is giving me now.
I will most likely stay with Sprint now that the long-promised 4G/LTE is actually coming to fruition.
Is there any concern for Sprint going away from the unlimited data plan?
Thanks,
Tracer
Not for years, and even if they did they'd be more generous than the others. It is a big differentiator for Sprint. It is nice, but I have wifi so it isn't a selling point to me.

The Valley tower referred to earlier in the thread as the first to be accepted in the market is live.
Someone should sensorly it. I'm sure it will be done shortly.
-
Anyone know how many towers they have done? It looks like they went from one in Lincoln and Omaha to a handful in each city. Looks like they're making good, quick progress.

Posting a bare URL with no elaboration does not explain the relevance. That is why I asked.
FYI, AT&T LTE devices have always been multi band. So, the AT&T variant reveals nothing regarding any upcoming Sprint variant.
Questioning is not the same as being defensive. But Robert has already warned you that your problematic username pegs you as a potential troll. So, expect to have your motives questioned.
AJ
Link = troll got it. Try not to be so petty. To make that claim that AT&T's variant reveals nothing regarding Sprint's is extremely short sighted. Do you know everything about every upcoming Sprint phone?
-
And what is the relevance of this to the Sprint Galaxy S4 variant with tri band LTE?
AJ
The sprint variant of that phone was discussed in this thread. Shows that it is close to release and that phone is supporting multiple bands.
Don't need to get defensive because another company is releasing a phone before sprint.

Sorry if this is off topic, but it was touched on a bit in this thread, which areas of the country will sprint NOT have 800 mhz service? I think Robert had said it would cover most all of the USA.

Up until about the last month it has not been bad. But recently I have been getting more and more frustrated. I don't run many speedtests, but quite often I find web pages failing to load and if I do a speedtest it comes back saying .1 mbps even though my phone claims full 3g. My town never got wimax and still isn't listed as an LTE "coming soon" recipient.
Phone price isn't really an issue, but it also makes me a little mad to see Sprint pricing their Galaxy s4 higher than other carriers. And the $100 off deal to new customers really seems like they don't give a #$*& about their existing customers.
It sucks and I strongly question whether it will be different in the next 12 months.

That Sprint is going to deploy the 800 MHz LTE but not sell a phone that can use it is a real mystery. They were selling LTE phones before they had any LTE so I don't know why they'd hold back in this situation. Frustrating. I really wanted the S4. I wonder if Sprint will get a Nexus 5?

I went to my local Verizon store today to check out the LTE phones particularly the Droid DNA phone because I am intrigued with the 5 in screen. I did several LTE speedtests on several phones (Droid DNA, RAZR MAXX, SGS3, SG Note 2) and the average LTE speeds were in the 6-8 Mbps range. This is a far cry from when I first went to that exact same store when the HTC Thunderbolt, Rezound, RAZR MAXX first came out when LTE speeds averaged 20-25 Mbps.
This makes me wonder how soon Verizon really needs to deploy LTE on its AWS spectrum to help alleviate capacity to keep up their lightning fast speeds. Verizon would have its work cut out for them since they need to upgrade its base station equipment to implement LTE-Advanced ready hardware.
I just hope when Sprint LTE is live on every single Sprint tower that I can get a consistent 10-12 Mbps and I will be happy.
Why do you need faster that 6-8 Mbps on a phone?

I vote for you to be the next sprint VP of network expansion. You obviously know how to run fiber to towers way better than the current people making 6 figures to plan and execute network vision.
Maybe the power of positive thoughts will run fiber from Sprint's backbone to the cell sites. Positive thoughts are cheap.
It would be foolish to so quickly to dismiss incompetence and inaction at the highest levels of the company. Obviously we have some ideas that would help Sprint.
-
Ughh my post sounds bad. How far behind are they? Do we have any realistic ideas? I would guess at least 6 months.
-
I know, it is quite entertaining.
patience is key in this endeavor
That's a convenient stance. What will you tell people when Sprint doesn't meet it's target completion date?
-
Those are extremely confidential numbers. You can get an idea of the relatively size if you can look up the number of blocks of numbers each operator owns in that area. Not accurate but just a ball park estimate. I used to have a link to a website for that info, but I have no idea where it is or whether it is still alive.
The wireless industry thinks everything is confidential and proprietary.

I know Phoenix used to be HEAVY VZW that was 5 years ago, I doubt it has changed too much.

Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska

My mistake I thought I'd read that it was supposed to be completed by the end of 2013
-
I was wondering if anyone knew where you could find how many customers Sprint has in each area? I know in some places in the Midwest the Verizon/Alltel merger really consolidated users to a single carrier.

www.phonearena.com/news/Sprint-gives-us-its-State-of-the-network-report_id37941
Says they be covering 250 mill ppl by the end of 2013 and 300mill in 2014. I wonder how many ppl they actually cover right now.

Your negativity and skepticism are not going to bode well for you on this site. Sprint can't even begin LTE deployment on 800mhz until they shut down iden in June 2013.
It was a simple question. Not negative. And I'm not sure why skepticism would not bode well on this site.
Will it require hardware upgrades to operate on 800mhz?

-
So when can we expect LTE to be operating on the 800 mhz if at all?
-
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone knows how the upgrade to LTE Advanced will go? Is it just a software upgrade? Or are they going to have to go to every cell site and do some physical hardware upgrade?
Is it true Sprint is going to move LTE to the 850 mhz spectrum occupied by IDEN when they finally get rid of nextel? Will this require new hardware?
I'm just trying to understand how long it will actually be until sprint has comparable service to ATT and VZ. It looks like its going to be at least 6 months, probably closer to a year.
Thanks for any help you're able to offer.
