    Sprint definitely needs it in NYC. I roam a lot. Look on Sensorly, which Sprint uses as reference, there are quite a few areas that are low in signal. Including in but not limited to Manhattan, without mentioning towers with signal but no service all over the city.

    I personally one of Sprint's numerous mistakes in the past was in not prioritizing the tops markets. T-Mobile is not great outside of cities to this day, but few of it's customers know that.

    WiFi in stores usually requires 'ok, agreeing to the conditions', every.... single.... time.

    If it is really important to you or anybody else Sprint, under normal circumstances, is not the best choice. On that note, I have a S9+ from Samsung which I configured to use "Calling Plus". It is a nice feature to have when I am not roaming in NYC, as I often do. I have been able to try T-Mobile roaming, and it works very well. I look forward to it being more wide spread.

    How did you get Calling Plus specifically working on the S9+?

     

    The voice mail app is in the Google Play store, just remember it is Sprint.

  4. Thanks guys for the info. My friend was interested in maps for his area. My area is 53% complete, with an estimated completion time of 6 months to cover my surroundings. The of the two towers I use the most one is fully completed, but is already overwhelmed, and the other is waiting on backhaul.

     

    As you can see I don't need the information, but will donate to help out the site as it has been a great resource for other information.

    Who cares? All of the big four operators are at least somewhat anti consumer -- VZW and AT&T far more so. Additionally, the other three are all effectively anti Sprint. Are you, too? If so, go find another provider. We encourage you to leave.

    At the moment I would say in my opinion Sprint is the most Anti-Customer. Sprint has money to buy T-Mobile but not to fix their network. T-Mobile came from behind to pass Sprint in LTE deployment.

     

    Sure they are working on sharing their network at the moment but Sprint could have invested it's money better. They could have kept the staff they just disposed off.

     

    Sprint's level of churn is not something that just happens, it's something you make happen. Why would you be upset that people what to get the most out of what they paid for?

     

    Getting the most out of their Sprint service is the whole point of these forums.

  6. Sprint chooses to do a lot of Anti-Customer things until someone pushes them. A good example is the Sprint iPad Air. I once had a strictly CDMA device unlocked as a courtesy with the warning that Verizon would be the only carrier that would be able to provide service to the device, but that it would be unlikely they would. (There was a short period when it was possible to move devices from one to the other without modification).

  7. It was a full unlock. As tested with a T-Mobile SIM. For my first friend, after the process was completed he put the T-Mobile SIM in and after what I would call less than 5 minutes but more that 1, it was working. My second friend had trouble with the reps, they kept giving him contradicting information. He eventually got it done Thanks to Apple. I should note both had the Executive Service number, if you think you have it, you might not as it has recently (last year) change.

  8. Sprint actually does unlock phones, at the very least the iPhone. I know two people who had their iPhone 5s unlocked. Sprint did not make it the easiest process, but it was done. It pretty much depends who you are, and what you are willing to do, but once approved it takes anywhere from minutes to an hour depending on load.

  9. I forgot to mention this but a new NV tower was added on the corner of The Cross Bronx(I-95) and the Major Degan it's still in the process of becoming functional(dropped calls etc).

     

    Interesting info, the towers along The Cross Bronx has an average low of 65,000 connections a day, and a high of 102,000. The new tower above is expected to past that number on the average.

  10. I was by the projects(138th/Bronx), and decided to do a speed test. I kept getting this odd result on the middle of the street:

    My joked that's its because most people are probably facetime-ing inappropriate material. I also notice most of the area seems unmapped. I try to do it next time I take my girlfriend to the area( she gets her nails done there, because it normally costs her $70 by where she lives, but $30 there).

  11. I personally think the reason for this thread, and hescominsoon writings, is the same reason we are all here for, Sprint's lack of communication, and past management decisions.

     

    I think we can all admit to at some point asking "Why would Sprint do that?" or simply being frustrated by their decisions.

     

    Most of you should admit that Sprint hasn't always made the best decisions in the past. One of my favorite example is Android, Sprint used to be really good friends with Google, Sprint was offered the G1 before anybody else, but turned it down.

     

    Its not exactly wrong for hescominsoon to feel they are just doing much of the same type of management they have done in the past. He is probably just frustrated with Sprint at the moment. Sprint seems to like to buy(or merge) their way out of problems.

     

    Personally my experience with Sprint, has been frustrating, every time I call to report an area with a problem, I am magically told that they are aware of the problem, and that there is no ETA, worse is that these areas seem to stay broken. I have just given up on calling, and just roam when possible.

  12. I apologize as well if my response came off as offensive, but it was in responding to your comment, which I was under the impression it directed at me, since you quoted me, and only me.

     

    Sprint was already behind schedule as it was before the hurricane, so I don't believe they are finished. My understanding of the information provided was that the towers in The Bronx that were being worked on already for NV, and the ones that were damaged, are the ones receiving this advance repair option.

     

    Executive Services, is "*suppose*" to be the highest level of customer service, as provided be Dan H, any time I have had an issue I normally use the online chat or regular customer service if not near a computer, but this time I the problem was too big, and I have been meaning to call them to see what its like. With all that said their information could be as bad as regular customer service, though the person that contacted me today, was able to provide the tower's address, he was supposedly in direct contact with the crew manager handling my near by tower.

    After the hurricane, Sprint failed to deliver on a contract I have with them, after speaking with Executive Services, on Friday. Sprint called me Monday, and today Wednesday(11/28/2012) I received another call about services in my area.

     

    According to the information from Sprint, Network Vision was being deployed whilst ignoring the upcoming hurricane. When the hurricane came, it damaged equipment all over the Bronx. Their first priority was to repair the equipment to at least pre-Network Vision levels, then to restart and or complete the Network Vision work already started as part of over all repairs. Most if not all repairs in The Bronx are on schedule to be completed with Network Vision in most places, like Grand Concourse, by November 30th, 2012.

     

    This will not happen. It's not possible, there are not enough towers completed, and not enough time for enough towers to be completed by that time. Sprint Customer Service does not know when NV will be complete, we have mounds of evidence that they routinely give inaccurate information to callers. NYC will not see a launch in November, and probably not in December either. There will be more and more towers completed in the coming weeks, but nothing close to a launch until probably January, unless they are really able to speed things up in the next two weeks.

     

    1.) Unlike a good number of the people that live in Manhattan, I don't think that my borough(Bronx) is the entire New York City. I was responding to someone's comments about a specific area in The Bronx. 2.) I did not call Sprint customer service, Sprint Executive Services called me to let me know the status of my surrounding network, and the areas that I was interested in. 3.) Sprint was behind schedule before the hurricane, they are just now getting done restoring service to the levels they were before the hurricane.

  14. Just got LTE at home for the first time ever. I'm in the 170th street and clay avenue area. I fired up sensorly so it should show up soon. The signal isn't very strong, but to have 4g at home is great. I'm sure it will improve as more towers are lit up. My speeds are on the weak side, which means I'm far from the tower, and range from 1.5-6 mbps. It's still way better than the 1xRTT I was getting yesterday.

     

     

    Network Vision is on track to be fully deployed in that area by Nov 30th, 2012, and many other areas in the Bronx.
