  1. I have 8 lines (me, wife, 3 family, 3 friends) on a 60gb family share plan.

We are currently paying $185 ($23.13 /line) including all taxes and a 19% discount.

This will be the price until 1/2016... after that, i estimate it will be around $265 ($33.16 /line)... which is still pretty awesome IMO

  2. No, you are not going to argue with me.  I am in no mood to argue this morning.

I am also in no mood to pittypat around.  That is why I am being direct.  That is not faulting you.  Thank you for reporting your experience with a Motorola purchased Nexus 6.

But you asked for advice.  I gave it.  As long as you supplied the accurate IMEI to Sprint and it is not white listed, then the handset is ineligible to be activated on Sprint.  There is no workaround.

So, you can return the handset to Motorola.  Or you can activate it on another wireless provider.

    AJ

Roger That. Thank you for the advice.

Some additional information... Sprint customer care stated that they had internal documents stating that devices purchased through Google Play and Sprint (obviously) would be eligible for activation, and explicitly stated that devices purchased through Motorola would not... though this might have been their way of getting me off the phone

  3. You were forewarned about that possibility in this thread.  If the IMEI is not white listed, then you will not get the handset operational on Sprint CDMA2000.  That is just the way it is.  You probably ought to arrange a return with Motorola.

    AJ

I didn't say I expected otherwise. I am just providing information for those that are interested.

  4. Demo phones?

The one in my area had 3 phones  in stock that were reservable (but not actually for sale until 11/19) and 1 for demo. Luckily I was able to play with the demo unit before it got attached to their big ass phone lock security device.

I already have a white 32gb coming from motorola... otherwise I would have probably reserved one... even with the risk of it not being white listed.

  5. This is all assuming you need a flagship $600 phone.

With very capable phones like the Aquos Crystal and Desire 510 coming to Sprint, the non subsidized plan model starts to make more sense.

    ED1500 w/ 4 lines = $210 /month           4 Desire 510 = $0 on contract

                              24 Month cost = $5040

    20gb family share pack w/ 4 lines = $160 /month       4 Desire 510 = $860 w/ tax

                              24 Month cost = $4700

It isn't a ton of money you are saving, and you do lose unlimited data, but for some people it will be the best option.

Also, if you can keep your phone for longer than 24 months, then the savings really start to show up.

  6. Excuse me for not being more precise... I meant to say near future.

What are the chances of a revised version of the Moto X (not Moto X2) coming out with triband support.

(this is obviously pure speculation intended to jump start discussion)

  7. Aaaaaaand back to the original topic...

So... Who here is actually getting the Moto X?

I want to so bad, but I just can't see myself getting another phone that doesn't have tri-band support.

What do you think the chances are of a tri-band version in the future?

  8. Its not as fancy as it sounds... essentially its just a dual core S4 pro with adreno 320 (2 cores for the CPU and 4 cores for the GPU)

That accounts for 6 of the 8 cores they are talking about... the other 2 are low power chips used for very specific tasks ( one for the always on mic and one for monitoring orientation/movement)

...at least that is what I gleaned from the article

  9. That looks like a great deal... and it appears that if you have any problems, you can just take it back to a Best Buy store to return or exchange.

On the phone itself, get it... best phone I have owned (iphone 3g, iphone 4, EVO, Nexus 4g, EVO LTE, Galaxy S3), and the first that I didn't want to immediately exchange for the next best thing.

    DO IT!!

  10. Just haven't had the time to drive there, fight them, and waste some gas yet.

I had issues with them unable to even fix a programming issue on my phone when I first got it. The repair store sent me to the Corp store, the Corp store laughed and sent me back to the repair store. They put me in the middle of their daily fights. They are all a bunch of idiots. You can see why I would prefer to just pay for a swap.

Sent from my C64 w/Epyx FastLoad cartridge

Yeah, I suppose my experience is more the exception than the rule. Hopefully a solution will present itself soon.

  11. My doubt on a fix looming is quite large right now.

Hell if someone offered me the ability to swap out my Evo for a GS3 for $100 I would not hesitate and even throw in my otterbox case with it.

Sent from my C64 w/Epyx FastLoad cartridge

Do what I did and pitch your problems to a sprint store. It took me a couple of times to get someone that was willing to do anything about it, so don't give up after the first person. If it doesn't work the first time, come back a couple days later and try someone else.

  12. I want to try what you did. Did you have to p[ay any fees? Did you have insurance? Did they use the insurance? Was it a Sprint store. We need some more info bro.

I did have to pay a $35 fee since I dont have insurance. The store I went to was not a sprint cooperate store... it was a "sprint preferred retailer

    Hope this helps.

  13. I am officially jumping ship to the Galaxy S3. I talked to a technician at my local store about my connectivity issues and the fact that my wife's GS3 is using 4mb of LTE for every 1mb of 3g while I was just the opposite.

He was able to get me into an GS3 right away as opposed to going through 2 or 3 different EVOs just confirm what we already new. I think it helped that he was apparently frustrated with the same issue on his own EVO.

I really like the EVO, but with the LTE issues and the GS3 getting JB already... it seamed like a no brainer.

Hopefully HTC can get it together as I want nothing less than an Android market dominated by Samsung, but I can't keep sitting here waiting for it to happen.

  14. So I got prl 56006 running on my EVO LTE today. I am in a good coverage area, so i decided to force it to roam only, and something unexpected happened... I connected to LTE... while roaming. It shows the operator name as: 310120

I know my closest tower was supposed to be completed at the end of last month, but I have only caught fleeting glimpses of 4G on my phone thus far. Am I right to assume that I am accessing LTE from the site before it has been officially handed off to sprint?

If so, do I have anything to fear in continuing to stay connected to it?

    Chris

  15. That is exactly what I was thinking this morning... Maybe they are shipping the phone with LTE problems and then planning to push out an update just before they flip the on switch for LTE.

It doesn't seem like a bad Idea to me. We aren't going to notice a network problem on a network we can't connect to are we?

  16. Haha, I posted at android central forums @ 8:14 about the May 18th release date... darn, I guess I was second.

on that forum though, someone pointed out that the promotion period for the presale on sprint.com ends on 5/17... would that further indicate a 5/18 launch?
