Is there really a live LTE tower in New Orleans or was it just a joke?

Whats the difference between the AT&T and Sprint panels? They both use those big squared boxes on the towers. I seen the pictures here but I cant find the difference.

Clearwire was in charge of Wimax, Sprint had nothing to do with it, LTE is a different story.

It will but don't expect to see anything before mid 2013 and by then I'm sure we'll have gotten LTE already.

Why are they taking so long to turn on the upgraded towers? I know there are regulations and stuff but it's been a long time since they finished the upgrade.

And its LTE Advanced ready so as soon as that comes out they be the first ones to have it, an advantage they have over Verizon and AT&T.

Sprint had WIMAX but it didn't succeed as they had hopped, then their deal with lightsquear to build their LTE failed so they had to make their own LTE network and Sprint doesn't have the resources Verizon and AT&T have, and sadly they don't make really good decisions (Nextel is one example)

I was checking the sprint.com/network website and it looks like a lot of the tower that have been upgraded to NV show Data Speed Upgrades. Has anyone seen towers that have this upgrade that ha not been upgraded to NV?

Its a website that shows coverage mapped by users, they also have and iphone and android app, you can map your connection from the android version.

Tampa is no missing from that list neither is New Orleans because that list is just additional cities getting NV upgrades in the coming months in addition to the other list were Tampa and New Orleans was introduced back in september http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=2382

I read on Cnet "in the coming months" could be as late as march, we got time, hope we don't have to wait that long though

Sprint didnt drop New Orleans from "in the coming months market list" thats list is just additional cities were work is under way, in addition to the other 100+ they announced before.

Sprint says it can go as high as 25 i seen as high as 30, but it depends on how many people is connected to the towers and other facts.

In my experience 3G just keeps getting worse everyday, i called Sprint because it is useless 70% of the time and they said i had to wait until they upgrade the towers, and there was nothing they could do for now.

But we are seeing some work in New Orleans, and maybe there are towers being worked one that we haven't seen. Hopefully we do see something before the Super Bowl.

Do sprint legacy towers have the big squared box next to the panels or just the NV upgraded towers? Do AT&T and Verizon also use this too?

Yes we where talking about different towers, when do you think this towers are going to go live? It's been a wile since they were finished.

I know But it looks the same there is no new equipement. Unless they did something today and we might be talking about different towers.

Where is the tower behind Popeye? Is it the one next to the interstate? I went by it yesterday and it looks the same and that tower really needs some upgrades 3G is useless even when standing by it.

Your saying the phone should stay on 3G even when searching for LTE?

I just got a carrier update for my iPhone and now when I have LTE on it doesn't drop the connection it just goes from 3G to 1x and if it doesn't find anything it goes back to 3G.

i'll try and see what they say, but whenever i contact apple they tell me is sprint fault and when i contact sprint they say is apples, or they tell me to restore my phone.
