Hope all is well and that everyone is in good health. Just some updates from upstate/WNY as New T-Mobile has made a lot of progress within the last two months. I’m still seeing 250+ download and 20+ upload speeds from my iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, all of my Speedtest results are run through T-Mobile servers and network in Syracuse, NY. No matter if I take it west in Rochester or east back in Fultonville. I was under the impression Rochester was selected for one of New T-Mobile’s call/support centers so I find it odd that everything is going through Syracuse now. On Sprint before the merger, most Speedtest results would go use a RIT or Frontier server in Rochester. Then post merger it began using different sites that T-Mobile used before shifting it all to Syracuse starting last month. 🤔🤷🏽♂️

Looks like most people will eventually upgrade within the next two years as the C-Band Auction will result in new 5G devices not currently on the market. Who knows if the iPhone 12 will be able to take advantage of that C-Band spectrum. [emoji3166][emoji2375][emoji390]

This is the lowest ping I've ever seen on mobile internet wow! This is n71 but hot damn. My WiFi on my phone is pulling 12ms wow! Granted much faster speeds but damn didn't think I would see this on a mobile connection.
Wow, that’s truly impressive and 100+ download is more than suitable to stream live news and sports! [emoji3][emoji1417]

Well that was quick:
https://www.t-mobile.com/news/network/supercharged-midband-5gWhat’s the news: T-Mobile lit up a supercharged 5G experience in another 121 cities and towns with mid-band 5G, delivering up to gigabit-per-second peak speeds and average download speeds around 300 megabits-per-second for capable 5G devices. And, this faster 5G experience will be in thousands of cities and towns by end of year. To celebrate, T-Mobile is giving away $100,000 on Twitter over the next several months, with #5Gsfor5G.
Go Magenta! With today’s announcement, this supercharged 5G experience is live in a total of 210 cities and towns across the country with thousands more on the way by end of year.
I saw Neville tweeted that and was pumped to see New T-Mobile light it up in Amsterdam, NY as I grew up in that area. Definitely was quick to forward it to my family as Sprint always underperformed in that area since we became customers in 2008. Really looking forward to future upgrades in speed and coverage. The Mohawk Valley and Adirondack Park need it desperately!

In other news, RootMetrics has officially moved on from Sprint in their “2nd Half 2020” reports. New T-Mobile seems to be holding its own in some cities but other cities reflect the congestion/slow speeds from moving over Sprint customers.

I have been looking forward to this article and the results are disappointing. However, we knew the transition from 4G to 5G would take several of years to complete.

Earlier today at the school in Gates, NY, I noticed my iPhone 11 Pro Max roaming on T-Mobile as it had full service. I then almost hit 200 Mbps download twice. The 1st Speedtest got me 188 followed by the 191. However, five minutes later it defaulted/fell back on Sprint and could barely get over 2 Mbps. I texted these to the math teacher I work with as he has T-Mobile and follows the merger progress on Reddit. To the best of my knowledge he has a Google Pixel 3 and this was the first time my iPhone had speeds similar to him. The fast speeds were short lived but it was exciting to know that the networks are coming together in the Greater Rochester area! [emoji100][emoji390][emoji1430]

Some positive news today is that I had to Venmo my new landlord for an APT between Berkeley and Brunswick streets. The Open Signal maps show that Sprint has little to no spectrum/bandwidth but T-Mobile has swaths of it. Needles to say it saved the day as I was able to search for his account complete the Venmo transaction in the basement of the building with my iPhone 11 Pro Max showing 3-4 bars of service. Had it still been Sprint I would have been shit out of luck... [emoji18][emoji1430]

This helps explain why the merging of Sprint and T-Mobile networks is taking so long. [emoji2375]

Big assumptions here but these numbers look possible. The Apple September 10th announcement is expected to include the release date for the 5G iPhone 12 and possibly an iPad 5G and Apple Watch 5G. The release date is currently expected to be sometime in October. T-Mobile is not allowing new 5G devices to be activated on the Sprint network and requires a migration of that line to T-Mobile's network when activating a new 5G device.
If we assume that more than 2% of Sprint legacy customers purchase a new device each month and that Sprint has ~50 million legacy customers still on its network and that Apple devices make up ~50% of Sprint's devices, we should see the mass migration of ~500,000 Sprint customers monthly from the Sprint network to T-Mobile's network once the iPhone 12 and other new Apple devices are released in October. Most customers with Apple devices in the US will purchase one of the Apple 5G models when upgrading their apple device. These numbers do not include the other 50% of Sprint's customers that have Android or other devices of which I assume that at least half of those ~500,000 customers will upgrade to a 5G compatible device each month.
My big assumption (you know what happens when you assume) using the above assumptions is that we should see around 750,000 customers with 5G devices moving from the Sprint network to the T-Mobile network each month starting in October due to purchasing a new 5G device. The does not include the monthly new customers that T-Mobile usually gets. I hope the new T-Mobile network can handle the load.
Those numbers definitely look possible and we still are not entirely sure what kind of incentives New T-Mobile has up their sleeve. [emoji1417]

Just hope New T-Mobile can keep the revenue coming and make widespread upgrades to keep churn rate down. That will be the only way they can remain competitive with AT&T and Verizon.

That's a really good plan. I may go with this next year. I plan to buy the 2021 unlocked iphone through Apple.
I keep forgetting you can do that via Apple. Definitely thinking about having my family in the Mohawk Valley/Adirondacks do that if New T-Mobile is unable to make substantial upgrades in that whole region. I brought them over from Straight Talk as their iPhone 5s’ were barely functional and they now have two iPhone 11’s. My iPhone 11 Pro Max works amazing all over the Greater Rochester region/market but definitely struggles back home. T-Mobile and Sprint have nowhere near the scale to compete with the duopoly in the 518. We all have the Unlimited Freedom plan which is priced fairly, just cannot justify having them pay for a service that is not being met/delivered consistently.

Well folks, after 20 years with Sprint... I couldn't take the slow data at home and near my home. 7mbps down (on a good day) and .3 up. Today I switched to AT&T prepaid. 141mbps down and 10 up. Hugely better! Unlimited Plus for $50. (current offer) Saves me $$ and way better speed. It's been long time and I just got tired of waiting for network improvements.
Good thing with AT&T prepaid is that you’re not stuck in a contract. You can come back to New T-Mobile once network upgrades transpire.

Not exactly related to New T-Mobile but interesting as it was done over 700 MHz and we are utilizing Band 71 aka 600 MHz. [emoji848]

Musical taste aside...I'm glad for you. [emoji57]
Hahaha, Sirius XM was letting me down yesterday on my 3 hour drive so I just kept flipping through my presets and noticed the “R” for roaming when passing through Mindenville aka the middle of nowhere lol! [emoji1787][emoji2375]

No.. not testy at all. But you're not putting accurate comparisons forth. Look, I love being a Fan-boy too, but it's off the official numbers reported vs what the sales pitch to brokerage firms was from the paid Pom-Pom squad. Do you think they're going to say yeah, we know we had massive outages 4 weeks ago, and again now, there's East Coast Outages... but.... and hey the Tower Firms are Lying cry babies... wait they did say that one. LOL Neville: "We're baking that layer cake faster".... Let's hope he doesn't burn that layer cake!
I just hope New T-Mobile can kick it into overdrive these next few months before winter and hurricane season impedes their progress. No better time to capitalize than now as fall weather is around the corner and manufacturing is finally catching up.

New T-Mobile Overtakes AT&T as #2 Wireless Provider
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/t-mobile-overtakes-t-america-200100963.html
Definitely did not see this happening anytime soon. Either way, the additional customers and revenue should fuel more network upgrades. [emoji1417]

Just got this text yesterday from Sprint. However, I noticed while I was driving around the City of Rochester that my Ford Sync in my Fusion Sport was showing “R” for roaming. I only know it means roaming for a fact as it always appears when I lose Sprint and my iPhone utilizes T-Mobile, AT&T, etc. With that said, I wonder if my Ford Sync will continue to recognize New T-Mobile network as roaming or will there be an over the air update that will allow my iPhone 11 Pro Max to officially join the new network? Either way, not complaining as I always have great Sprint service in center city of Rochester and the roaming symbol tells me New T-Mobile is really happening! [emoji1605]

Thank you, that definitely makes sense. I do not visit Henrietta that much but will have to look for the regional engineering office next time.
