  1. I'm new to iPhone and iOS. When I owned android phones in the past every 4-6 months I would perform a factory reset on my device to clean it up. Is that necessary with iOS?

The reason I ask is my wife has a 6s plus that she says has been running slower than normal. When that happened with my android device I would normally do a factory reset.

You should NOT have to.  Just power down the device and turn it back on.  Usually with the iOS updates. the device does a soft reset anyways.

  2. Many other photo enhancements with beta?

I'm on Dev preview and take many photos of the kids daily....

Not sure...but i have seen significant improvement in Portrait mode...the border is much cleaner now vs. before when it was first released.

  3. I use the app from the apple store called camera + it allows me to use each camera individualy ...and the secondary lense is. Definitely telephoto the zoom is pretty good:)

I had this app too but then i found that Apple camera app is pretty good at determining when to use and not to use telephoto lens.  When it would not use it even when zooming, it is because using the actual telephoto lens in that situation looks like crap.

I do like the Portrait mode...i have gotten pretty darn good photos out of it!

  4. I don't know why I waited so long to get the 7 Plus. I love this phone!

If you are in the BETA program, then you will notice pretty damn good Portrait mode!  Compared to normal (non-beta) iOS software, the Portrait mode in latest beta software is significantly better!  :tu:

  5. I've been thinking of switching from my Nexus 6 to the iPhone 7 plus. I'll probably wait and see if the 7s plus has AMOLED display this year.

Why wait just for that?  LCD on 7/7+ is pretty much top notch (accuracy, brightness, wide color gamut), easily on par with SAMSUNG AMOLED.  Remember, not all AMOLED (and LCDs) are created equal...even when come from same manufacturer.

  6. A quick question for anyone who took advantage of Sprint's trade-in credit for the iPhone 7 when coming from a 6 or newer. Did any of you do the trade-in in-store? (I know some of you did it online, which was a different process so not really any help here) If so, has your monthly bill credit shown up on your account? We got an iPhone 7 and two 7 Plus's back in September when they came out, and traded in two 6 Plus's and a 6 so that we would get the monthly bill credits, but have still yet to get the credits. We are now on monthly payment 4 on two of the devices and payment 3 on the other one, so it has definitely been 2 billing cycles since we turned in the phones, and yet, there still hasn't been a bill credit applied. Can anyone help with that?

Currently trying to get in contact with Sprint Customer Support but the automated answering prompt has no good options for my issue, and the chat option isn't showing up on their site for me. I just want to talk to a representative, is that too much to ask?! I appreciate any help that you guys can give.

  7. Apparently, Pixel has significant connectivity issues: http://www.anandtech.com/show/10753/the-google-pixel-xl-review/7

"Normally we would also run this test on LTE, in order to compare battery life between devices when browsing on a cellular connection instead of WiFi. Unfortunately, the Pixel XL presents a problem here. Both Matt and I have noticed that cellular reception on the Pixel XL is not very good. In particular, Matt was unable to achieve our target signal strength of -90dBm or better in the same area where he tests all other LTE devices. The best signal he was able to achieve was -100dBm (outdoors). Because we're dealing with a logarithmic scale, the difference in transmission power is not 10% like you might imagine based on the numbers, it's ten times the power. Unfortunately, we aren't equipped to do laboratory tests on the Pixel XL to directly compare RF performance to other devices, but it does seem that the signal strength is generally not as good as other smartphones."

  8. Google's end game is not necessarily to sell high volumes.  With recent Nexus handsets, that has not been the case.  Google and its OEM partners seem content with niche market share.

I don't know...Google presentation was all about attacking Apple and how it is better than iPhone.  Google is branding itself with this device...advertising that this is their own creation etc..  Google is looking for mass appeal...NOT a niche product IMO.  This is not a "developer" phone.

  9. iPhone dacs have historically been good. I simply stated not wanting to get lightening headphones for a singular device and using the dac as bridge between mutiple device use . Plus having access to higher quality music formats as the iPhone doesn't support past 16bit natively! LG V20 notwithstanding.

Then you add in audio latency and all Android products suck donkey balls in terms of audio quality.  V20 is gimmick.  As is LG B&O "module" for G5.  LG is desperate and trying to appeal to audiophiles...unfortunately for LG, not many audiophiles are falling for it.

  10. Ok, they are my impressions as first sentence postured. Still have to do more testing, I did buy the device, track it down drove miles to get it, and just comparing my experiences thus far. Everyone may have different one depending on apps and light present in regard to camera performance. With regard to the headphone jack or lightning port.. No matter how good the internal is, dedicated is still better! Simple fact. Bluetooth headphones are only good for working out based on the bandwidth they can push. Which I have already so not a concern. Lightening is propriety and I have multiple devices I use. Not for being locked into one singular system. I like options. Everything is debatable no device infallible.

Didn't Apple include lightning to 3.5 jack?  So, you can still use your normal audiophile headphones...and i assume that you can connect DAC to it too.  Apple is not forcing you into Airpods.  Use the converter.

But as noted above in my post, DAC/amp of iPhone (at least in iP6) posted numbers rivaling the best dedicated DAC/amp.  Try your dedicated DAC...i want to hear comparison too!

  11.  So onto my impressions of the device so far and I haven't had an iPhone since the 3GS. But with Wi-Fi calling active and attempting to call sprint 611, you cannot use touch tones it won't recognize. I attempted to do a Wi-Fi to network handoff and the call simply failed so that doesn't work  either. I'm not a fan of the display density not so much the resolution but how the screen is utilized with space especially coming from a Nexus 6P that had dpi settings in Nougat. Overall the phone is  fast as eff, so I'm pleased with that, and the battery life is a pleasure coming from the Nexus 6P as well. I'm pretty sure I'm going to invest in a dac if I do decide to bother listening to music because I don't want to bother with the lightning cable and the quality coming from the phone. The stereo speaker set up actually is pretty impressive though I'll give it that. I'm not so sure about the camera quality I haven't gone out and taken pictures. But it seems a bit softer to me in my opinion, coming from the 6P. worse then the 6S plus in certain situations as well when I compare some of the pictures my partner has taken.  I'm not a fan of the implementation of universal copy and paste especially coming from android where you literally could copy everything. Be it the over all system settings or using Google now on tap to copy text from an image. There are certainly a lot of compromises that I'm dealing with at the moment but I'm in it to see if updates change my mind as the current software matures. Just certainly more steps to accomplish the same task in some cases. But faster because of how the software runs with the hardware.

You do realize that Apple's DAC/amp is among the best...see: http://www.kenrockwell.com/apple/iphone-6-plus.htm

Scroll down to see audio tests.  And i believe the lightning port itself has a amplifier.

The camera on 7 is better than 6P and 6sPLUS.  That is not up for debate IMO.

  12. If it's that tempting for you to switch, then switch. Nobody here is going to stop you. Just because Verizon and AT&T are willing to give people a trade in credit that is worth several times more than what the device is actually worth, doesn't mean that Sprint has to. Sprint can't afford to take the loss in profit like Verizon and AT&T can. Apple only offers 90 bucks for a 64 GB Unlocked iPhone 5S, so Sprint is right in line with that trade-in offering.

    -Anthony

I understand. It's a free market. I am not really asking for anyone to sympathize with me. It is just interesting that Sprint has been so aggressive with their plans (e.g. Cut bill in half etc.)...and they have match competition offers every step (see Sprint offers immediately after Tmo announce something)...until now i guess. I guess because i have 4 lines with older iPhones, these other offers appeal to me more than some of you guys with newer models. That's the price i pay for being so darn cheap and keeping my phone so long and now have minimal value! :D

  13. Is anyone annoyed that Sprint does not give more $$ to iPhone 5/5s/5c? Tmo and Verizon are giving $400 to these 3-4 year old iPhones if you buy the new iP7/7+ with 24 months installments. Sprint gives a measly $80 for them. ATT not so long ago had promo of $250. So, of 4 carriers, Sprint gives the least amount (by far) to older iPhones. I have been with Sprint for 16 years...thru bad times...and all they can come up with is $80. I am almost tempted to switch (contracts have ended for my family)...Sprint is just daring me to! :D
