  1. New to the forums, but I have been glancing at S4GRU for a little bit...maybe since this summer.

Today, I was blessed with 4G! I was in the Cutler Bay area near Southland Mall, and lo and behold, a 4G connection! A couple weeks ago, I forget where I was, I saw the badge flash for a second, but it immediately went back to 3G. But today, I had the connection for as long as I was in that area. As I headed back to Homestead on the turnpike, it dropped out around Exit 5 I believe.

Youtubes loaded super quick, I have a NAS and an app that lets me access it remotely, so I tried connecting to it to play a song, and the song loaded in full in SECONDS. Usually, it's sputtering and the music will play and stop...play and stop....frustrating.

Finally, I did a couple speed tests. Check it:

Well...I can't figure out how to upload a picture here, but here are the results:

    1st Test: Ping - 34ms; DL - 8.74Mbps; UL - 9.02Mbps

    2nd Test: Ping - 46ms: DL - 17.80Mbps; UL - 11.86Mbps (2nd test was done immediately after completion of 1st test)

I will upload the results screen (4G badge!) as soon as I figure it out.

I know that this won't be the case everywhere, and I'll be doggone if my job isn't shipping me out of this area soon, but it felt like victory to get a hefty sample of the advanced network I've been paying an extra $10 a month for over the last 2 years (Samsung Epic 4G before this phone).

Welcome abroad. This LTE area was discovered awhile back. Starts turnpike coral reef to turnpike 288st...it's a big chunk of LTE..enjoy!

  2. Yeah so like I said, it usually takes a couple minutes for it to show on Sensorly.com etc (by my experience).

About how fast LTE is: only place I have experienced fast LTE (as in 25 megs download like you just experienced) has been in the Miami Gardens tower on 47th ave and 183rd st. The towers by the Palmetto and 836 have always been less than 1 meg download! (i have posted about this before and Robert said it might be backhaul etc).

SW westchester coral way and 87th ave picked up as fast as 31 megs like 2 weeks ago.

  3. Sprint iPhones are holding their value very well and GS3 prices have dropped to reasonable. You probably made money on that deal. :)

Your right sir. Sold my i5/black/32GB for $675 and bought the SG3/white/16gb for $370. Not too shabby and I still made money. One thing is for sure...apple iphones have great resell value

  4. Ah so you gave in to the dark side...

    How you liking the GS3?

So far very good. The battery life is much better than iPhone 5 IMHO. Totally digging the bigger screen. I like google and my main email is gmail so this works great for me. I tried android while back via evo shift...didn't like it much. But SG3 with nice big screen/LTE radio/JB 4.1 its great. For now ill stay put with the SG3
  5. On a side note...starting Friday I shall be able to map via sensorly. Sold the iPhone5 and bought a SG3 instead. Wanted bigger screen and being able to voice/data at same time sold me. Soon im gonna start mapping tons of LTE goodness im finding all over town. You guys think once that's tower on SW 117 ave and 160th st goes live (by the coca coal) I should finally be able to get LTE on kendall breeze 120st/125th ave?

  6. I've been checking this forum daily for several months now. I've had sprint for about 10 years. I got the EVO 4g with the promise that I would be able to get 4g in "a couple months." I was never able to get a wimax signal at my house or where I worked. I've been stuck with .2 mbps speeds forever. Right now im test driving an s3 on tmobile and im getting 12 mbps with a consistent signal. I just dont think I can keep waiting for Sprint. Realistically, when will our market be launched? By January? Thoughts?

I was about to end both of my contracts on my sprint account. Both wife and I got the iPhone 5 on launch day. I was so upset at the lack of sprint LTE in Miami. I figured the money I would make with 2 mint condition iPhone 5's would pay $350 fee to end each contract and enough to pay for new iPhone 5 at Verizon. 2 things stopped me ( couldn't find a iPhone 5 available for Verizon and didn't want to lose my unlimited data) One day reading on imore I found this website. The more I read here the more I was convinced to stay. LTE in Miami is pre launch stage and I've already experienced it in many areas of Miami. Wife and I are glad we stayed with sprint and look forward to having LTE available everywhere soon. Just be patient and wait it out. If we have already waited this long what's an extra 1-2 months. Good luck.

  7. It may very well be that I'm out of range but the fact that there's no purple shading does not imply that. It could be that there is signal but no one has mapped it (which is what I was hoping)

That's true. I was hoping the same here where I live at. I'm literally like 2 blocks away from purple area and no LTE.

  8. Right now I'm in Miami Gardens at 57th ave and 176th st and I was hoping I would pick up 4G from the first tower that went live in the Miami market but sadly I'm not getting anything...

Based on the sensorly map your out of range from that tower. There's no purple area there. That's like the same scenario here where I live. I'm within 1-3 blocks away from LTE on turnpike and 120 st. But here in Kendall breeze I can't pick up LTE. Once that tower on 874 or hammocks goes live I'm sure I will.

  9. Anyone having problems using Sensorly on their phones and/or loading the page on the computer?

This morning I kept trying to access the page and it kept timing out and I had to reload many times for it to work etc. I had forgotten about this, and so I was just coming south on Palmetto and I picked 4G around NW 36th St, i remembered someone mentioning that now 4G extends all the way to SW 88th St and so I wanted to map it however when I went to "map trip" and hit "start" it wouldnt collect any points (4g nor 3g/2g). I came home and tried to access sensorly.com and had the same problems as in the morning. Then it hit me that it might be related...

Anyways, I didnt keep 4G till SW 88th St, it dropped a little bit before the SW 72nd St exit.

No problems here. I know yesterday I got an update from sensorly via the App Store.

  10. My drive on the palmetto south was chock full of lte. From the dolphin all the way to 88th street sw. Speeds fluctuated from 3mb-8mb downloads.

Oh about 1900mhz penetrating powers. I was in malls of america. From the food court all the way to Ross. Lte was strong the whole way through.

Wow 88st...that's Kendall already. I've never gotten LTE beyond the palmetto after 40th st when I hit 874 in route to Kendall it dies.

  11. I am sure the issue is a patch/update away from being fixed. It's still not a jail of features. =D I really really want a HTC J Butterfly

Look at that drooool.. I want it, if it's compatible on the sprint network. I will snatch it up, since it's supposed to be a global phone, or maybe they will release one.

Oh the best part it's WATERPROOF =D

"PHABLET" this is too big for my tasting :td:
