Maybe a state to state thing?  In Cali, they charge you the tax on the non-subsidized price.

Recently picked up a G3 from Best Buy, they price matched Amazon at $50, I had the $50 credit for signing up with Best Buy earlier in the year. I just paid about $70 in taxes (when with 2 year re-up). Plus I get the extra battery and charger for free. This is has got to be the best bang for the buck right now. The G3 is a beast.

    Where did you hear that?

I'm fairly sure that the Sprint Note 4 has full Spark support, including full LTE Band 41 support.

    Here, of course... http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6257-samsung-galaxy-note-4/

Note 4 does not have Cat6 modem, no B41.

Honestly, that is not a deal killer for me. I like the G3 for its form factor and it seems to at least match the Note 4 blow for blow. The fact that LG's skin seems lighter than TouchWiz is the icing on the cake.

I just want to know if there is any obvious advantage the N4 has over the G3, cause I can't find any. (again, with the exception of the S-pen)

So, in a nutshell, what is this phone's weakness? I've been waiting for the Note 4 but just like the Note 3 was not Spark ready, it seems that Note 4 is missing B41.  Any input on why the Note 4 is better than the G3. (the S-pen aside)

  1. According to Sprint BuyBack, the EVO Wimax is worth $5 and thus not eligible for Samsung's $200 rebate.

I'm reading the offer to mean that no matter what, the rebate check will not be more than $190. That means that if you get $5, you will "only" get $190.  I don't think they care if you got $1 or $10 from your trade, they will only give you $190 regardless. I dunno, I could be wrong.

  2. I have never upgraded with Best Buy, just sprint telesales and pre-orders, do they typically do everything right and not screw up plans etc...?

Can't vouch for "typically" but they handled my Note 2 purchase flawlessly.  I'm hoping for more of the same Saturday when I pick up the wife's iPhone 6.

  3. I guess no Note 4 for me. Between this and the Moto x im so distressed that Sprint doesn't have a device that moves me yet. I was ready to buy a new device in October for myself. HTC is my last hope!

What dissuaded you from the N4?

  4. Are there any Sprint Note 3 users in Orange County, CA with call issues? I'm gonna be getting 2 Note 3's come January. :)

Well I was there two weeks ago for the OC car show and made a couple of calls with no issues.

  5. I have noticed that it is quicker to drop a weak WiFi signal than my note 2. Couple of times, when in my house, the phone has switched to 4G. This never happened on my Note 2. I do seem to be pulling in 4G better than the N2, however.

  6. Nice to see Amazon already selling this for $50 less than Sprint although it temporarily out of stock.

Wirefly had it for the same price and this morning was not showing sold out/backordered although that may have changed.

  7. Eric, thank you for your prompt and thoughtful response.  I guess I need to weigh the importance of deeper LTE coverage v. Note 3's improvements over the Note 2.

On the bright side, I have five phones on my account and the other users could not care less about new phones so an update is never too far away.

  8. Can anyone chime in whether a single-band LTE is the death knell for me since I'm in the L.A. area (specifically Glendale)?  I REALLY like the Note 3 but not if I'm going to get worse performance than my Note 2 in the immediate future.  Or is this just a matter of not being able to take advantage of the NV improvements that will be coming soon?

  9. After you use it a while please update us on how it works out. Its over 100 miles to the closest LTE here. Im hopping its at least average on LTE with no need to cycle airplane mode but its past the two week return window so its mine for 2 years either way.

I can tell you that based on what I see on Sensorly and compared to what my phone does when it's in LTE range, the handoffs are very smooth.

  10. got my update this morning. My only complaint is why can't I have multi-view on my Galaxy Tab 10.1? I'm liking the Note 2 more every day. Everyone who holds the phone laughs saying this thing is too big but then get serious and say it's nice to have such a large screen.
