  1. Awesome!! But I'm considering waiting for the 10" Nexus Tab. Gah never owned a tablet but now I really want one!

  2. Typically when your download speeds are bad but upload speeds are good, that is typically a backhaul problem. When both upload and download speeds are crap, its usually a capacity problem and more carriers are needed. There are exceptions to this rule.

Ahh. Well thank you for clearing that up! That should be cleared up with NV anyways.

I'm just in a bad signal area all around. Just hoping NV and LTE will cover these spotty signal areas with better coverage.

I guess not. For some reason I just assumed those speeds were related to an LTE slated area...just checking. You can make a lot of people really nervous reporting those speeds with a title that says "Capacity fail!". I was thinking....please dont let it be Atlanta!

    lol...post responsibly.

Good point bro. I apologize can't change the title now. Tapatalk won't let me.

I would say your results are on par on what to expect until sites are completed with NV. I don't believe any part of Florida have any completed NV sites at the moment. Your results are similar to what I experience in certain parts of SFL.

Oh yea I don't doubt that at all. But at my house I get .05 down! Ahahaha!

  5. I'm VERY tempted to get a Nexus tablet. But what's everyone's take on 7" vs. 10" tablets? I no longer have a laptop and would be interested in a tablet. I know it's not a laptop replacement, but it's pretty darn close. Not to mention all the development the Nexus 7 will get!

  6.

Yes. I used Wifi Analyzer to see that there were several neighbors whose wifi was on the same channel as my own. I went into the settings of my wifi router and changed the channel to one that was less crowded. I haven't had the issue since then.

Ahh ok. Nice! Glad it worked for you!

  7. I'm not surprised we are seeing many issues pop up. We haven't even gotten to our first OTA update on the EVO yet. This is the life of an early adopter.

My experience with my OG Evo was basically flawless while others were having all sorts of issues. I never had light leakage, screen problems or anything that was being reported. Other than the heat issue and the Wifi connectivity that went away when I changed the channel, this phone has been running very well.

    Changed the channel?

  8. They (HTC and Sprint) better get a software update out quick. For one, it's been speculated on here that the EVO LTE is a big part of why Sprint is still blocking LTE sites. Also, the EVO is the flagship Sprint smartphone brand. The GS3 is a nice device, but like the iPhone, it's a device that is getting out on multiple carriers from Day 1.

I wish I had an answer for you. Since mine only seems to occur under a specific set of circumstances and not all the time I can't say how exactly it could be fixed. For now I just operate according to the old joke; 'Doc it hurts when I do this" "Well don't do that!"

Haha yea I agree but I can't not work at my job lol. Yea HTC and and sprint do need an update out asap! I'm thinking a firmware update will fix our issues.

Fraydog, I agree with you! What do you think about a possible fix or it being a hardware issue?

  9.

The phone still gets hot if it is trying to do anything radio intensive while also in a poor signal area. The poor signal is related strictly to areas where I was always getting poor signal even with my OG Evo. The device itself is good as far as signal reception.

Same issue here. Can/will that be fixed with a firmware update? Or is it a hardware issue. I'm on the 0001 prl and my heat issue is much better! For instance where I work, I would get 2-3 bars on my E4GT where as my ELTE gets one or just roams, which causes the severe heat issue.

  10. Also noticed the Second Round markets order has been shifted around where the Florida markets are on the top of the list now and some other markets got pushed up and down.

This is outstanding news! I'm in the Orlando Market! Hopefully NV will be here soon! Need 3G to work and LTE would be fantastic! Hope this pushes the ORL market up! I would check. But don't have the money to become a premier sponsor. Lol

  11. Just wanted to report with wifi on during a phone call the person on the other end said I was hard to hear and echoing. When I turned wifi off the call quality returned to normal. Anyone else experience this?

  12.

Careful. We have published a comparison of transmission, not reception. Even then, the max power transmission results are a mixed bag. For example, the EVO LTE trumps the Galaxy S3 with ~3 dB higher max ERP for both CDMA1X 800 and CDMA1X 850. So, the EVO LTE may actually be the better handset for holding basic connection in fringe areas of both native and roaming coverage.

Ah wonderful! Thank you very much for the clarification sir! Makes me feel somewhat better haha.

Now just wondering if my low signal issues are related to the heat issues I'm seeing. I think they are but I'm just trying to find out if I have a hardware problem or not.

  13. Odell, I am having the same exact issues as you are! Low signal = heat and all... Is this something that can be resolved by a software/firmware update? Or is it a hardware issue? I'm only asking to see if a replacement phone would be any different.

On another note, how is the HTC EVO LTE going to compare next to the SG3 radios? From the S4GRU break down of both phones the SG3 looks like it may have better signal reception :/

  14. So apparently the SG3 is going to get better signal than the HTC EVO LTE? I thought HTC always had better signal than Samsung... Are these significant enough differences to where even in very low signal areas we will notice a difference? I really wanted to try an HTC device as this is my first, simply because of Samsungs radios being garbage.

    SG3:

    Maximum RF ERP: 17.78 dBm (CDMA1X 850), 20.77 dBm (EV-DO 850), 24.05 dBm (CDMA1X 1900), 23.85 dBm (EV-DO 1900), 17.21 dBm (CDMA1X 800), 17.56 dBm (EV-DO 800), 22.01 dBm (LTE 1900)

    EVO LTE:

    Maximum RF ERP: 20.43 dBm (CDMA1X 850), 18.74 dBm (EV-DO 850), 22.98 dBm (CDMA1X 1900), 18.44 dBm (EV-DO 1900), 20.01 dBm (CDMA1X 800), 18.75 dBm (EV-DO 800), 19.85 dBm (LTE 1900)

  15.

Thats a little too specific for me to answer... from what I've seen, the deployment is rather random in some of the markets that have started, IMO. So, I really cannot answer that part with certainty. However, The schedule maps in the premier sponsor area do give dates of when each individual tower is expected to be upgraded.

Ok yea I thought it might have been. I appreciate the help though man. I'm already a sponsor. How much of a donation to become a premier sponsor?

It will take several months to complete many of the markets, as it is not uncommon for a single given market to have over 1000 towers. However, even without all the towers being complete, Network Vision/LTE should be pretty usable across the market. And, Many second round markets are scheduled to start before the first round markets are complete.

Thank you Ben! Ok so having said that do they work in the larger cities of a certain market first? For instance the Orlando market... I live more in the central part of Florida. Polk County, 33884 area. Not a huge area in my opinion, but heavily populated. It is in desperate need of some better signal.
