Your PRL will not help you get better LTE reception. It effects voice and 3G service. Updating your Prl will reset your radio and may grab a better signal when it restarts. Digiblur has a informative article about it on the front page.
As for trying to force LTE, you can set you preferred network to LTE. Dial *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer and click Phone Information. Scroll down to preferred network type and change it to LTE only. Just to let you know, this will not guarantee a LTE connection and may will drop to 1xRTT

LG Optimus G
in LG
I picked up one last week off Swappa for $210 shipped. Such a huge upgrade from my Galaxy Nexus when it comes to signal and battery performance.
I also received an email today from Amazon Wireless saying that the phone is now a penny for new plans and renewing contracts.

I'm able to get LTE on almost all of Palm Ave. in the South Bay between Dennery Rd. & Silver Strand Blvd. Signal drops. To 3g at Picador for a block. 4g comes back when you pass Luckwaller Park (west bound) or Churrituck (East bound).

I'm wondering where the UCSD tower is. It's not the one down by the 52. But it did cover La Jolla Village Drive where I mapped' date=' and someone also mapped Gilman.[/quote']
There's a Sprint tower right by the VA hospital entrance. That's one of the first blips i got LTE service a month ago.

Turned on mapping last night as I jumped on the trolley at Palm Ave. heading to the convention center to attend the Epic Beer Festival. Racked to 93 LTE points on Sensorly during the trip.

The Galaxy Nexus is a LTE phone. Garytheo. Have you tried toggling the network mode to CDMA/Evdo then back to CDMA/LTE? Sometimes I need to do that on my GN to kick start my connection to LTE.

I drove all over Imperial Beach and on the 805 yesterday to try to find 4G but couldnt :/ but this morning I have noticed faster 3G speeds in Eastlake. I usually get .05-.15mps on speed tests on average but this morning im getting .5-.7mps.

The strongest point of LTE in IB is on Palm Ave between 16th Street (Rally's Burger) and 13th Street (Carls Jr).

I picked up 4G in the Imperial Beach area tonight! Will try to do some more mapping tomorrow' date='[/quote']
I just found it on my way to IB pets.

Edit: going up and down Palm Ave. I get LTE from 10th Street to almost the 5 on ramp. I went up and around 13th street and got a signal up until the Navy base.

oh ok thanks' date=' are those active yet? Or anyone driven by to check? If not I will go check them out since I am less than a mile from each see if I can map them on Sensorly[/quote']
I drove past both of those towers on Saturday and was only pulling 3G.

I saw some new panels installed on top of a storage unit building on L street and Industrial blvd in Chula Vista, anyone know if those are Sprint LTE?
Those are AT&T. There is a Sprint labeled one about two blocks South on Industrial just before Moss. There's another in Broadway in the parking lot of Yardage City near H St.

Interesting. Mobile data stopped working this morning when connecting to EHRPD in Imperial Beach. The 3G icon goes away and the signal icon is grey. Switch the network mode to to CDMA/Evdo and boom. Mobile data works. Drove a few miles north to Chula Vista and mobile data on EHRPD works.

Nice. That's the route i took home after I drove through LA Jolla. Wish I can take credit, but Sensorly have me 0 4g points while mapping.
I see the first Sensorly tracks along I-5 just south of UCSD. It's very faint. Yay, progress!Robert

I just drove through parts of La Jolla, University City, and Torrey Pines with Sensorly mapping. No luck on getting any LTE service.

Sorry. I was out of town all week. I just few back into town this morning and about to drive around.

Looking at the San Diego interactive map, the closest tower to that location is *edited.

I downloaded it last week and just fastbooted the GA02 radios to go with my CM10.1 builds. The combo has been running fine. I might actually flash the full GA02 build when I have the time to see if the battery draining GPS lock bug in most of the 4.2.1 roms is fixed.
