According to the sites being activated recently it appears that they are in Waco, not Austin. Is it possible that Austin really isn't on the first round?

The original EVO 4G has a 5:3 or 15:9 (1.67:1) aspect ratio screen. The EVO 3D and EVO 4G LTE have 16:9 (1.78:1) screens. So, yes, the EVO 4G LTE will be narrower.AJ
Released specs show the EVO 4G LTE with a width of 2.7". The original EVO 4g has a width of 2.6".

Of course it was intentional. Unless we want to go back to pull out antennas there has to be a plastic portion of the phone for wireless signals to get through.I am very impressed with the specs, but I'm having a hard time with the looks. I'll probably still get it though.AnandTech has an exhaustive article about the Qualcomm S4 chip compared to the Tegra 3. http://www.anandtech...nvidias-tegra-3It's a good read if you have any reservations about the performance of the cpu.
I hear you on the looks of this phone. If I decide to get it I will definitely be getting a protective case - not so much as to protect it but to cover it up.

No user replaceable battery puts this in the iPhone class of devices. I like being able to have spare batteries on hand. However, 2000 maH is a plus.

My initial message was that it was on backorder. It has now switched to this:
Status: Thanks for pre-ordering a shiny new HTC EVO 4G LTE, an email will be sent the second it ships. The launch date for this handset will be announced in the next few days, thank you for your patience. Delivery should occur within 1 to 3 business days thereafter. I'm feeling a bit better now...
