  1. Knowing that this report exists, it seems like that might be a worthwhile investment. Just a few months of improvement could see a complete 180 on Sprint's performance in the top 50 airports, at least. Imagine everyone's shock if Sprint just cleaned house in the next iteration of this report...

Knowing that Sprint partnered with Boingo, I have a lot of doubts that Sprint will try to improve their network speeds at airports. Why go through the trouble when you already have a partner that provides your customers with Wifi (at the 35 airports that Boingo has service at)?

  2. So my iPhone is definitely bent. I can feel the screen in the bottom right corner is coming out of the body of the phone due to this. It's not a big deal but I do hear it kinda click when using it sometimes. Is this something Apple would replace or would I just be wasting my time going to the store with it?

Also I don't mind the left search screen. Shows me News stories and what not I normally wouldn't see so I've found it at least somewhat useful.

Apple will replace the screen but not the phone.

  3. Updated it to what? 20.1 is the latest version, and I'm on 19.1 thanks to nahum's little trick.

Does 19.1 work better than 20.0? And I was wondering if 20.1 was the latest version on 8.4 because there are posts from people on iOS 9 who were on a higher carrier bundle. Just wondering if that applied to 8.4 as well and if so, if it showed improvement.

Also, were you able to jailbreak iOS 8.4 when running iTunes 12.2? Taig is saying it can't find the Apple/iTunes driver?

  4. Yeah they released the public beta earlier today. I updated my Dad's iPhone to it (I would do mine but I'm on jailbroken iOS 8.4, and you know, CellularInfo <3). They make it EXTREMELY simple to do. They tell you to back up to iTunes, go to a website that installs the public beta profile to your device, restart your device, go to OTA software updates, and BOOM! iOS 9 Public Beta 1. :)

Have you updated the carrier bundle on 8.4?

  5. I restored from iOS 9 beta 2 to iOS 8.4, and the carrier version is Sprint 20.0. It keeps asking me to update to 20.1, but I don't wanna :P

Is 20.0 dropping LTE too? I am on 20.0 but I still see LTE dropping, albeit the iPhone is holding onto the signal slightly better tan 19.1 was.

  6. Concerning the camera shift, I think it's kind of a blessing in disguise. In a couple months I'll take my phone in while still under warranty and get it replaced. Hello fresh battery!

Apple will only replace your display, not the whole phone… unless you tell them that there is something else that's wrong with the phone not associated with the display

  7. This is really the first time I've thought about jumping ship. I stuck through the growing pains because I believed in the turnaround - it was happening, and there was evidence of improvement every day.

This is pretty crappy for the people who rode out the bumps in NV and stuck with Sprint during the lean years. If this 600Kbps policy goes across all plans, that's going to be extremely problematic. This just derailed all of the goodwill and momentum Marcelo has made since taking over.

  8. please someone correct me if I am wrong <the line forms of there...>

but I don't think anything about the new All In plan makes sense.... here is the old version <same price> and the old version with nearly the same name for more money - granted offered more...

    OR

this version from early this year - which at the same price included international AND yearly upgrades??? so they took away stuff

Of course! All the companies are in the business of making money! They market to those who don't do their research so when people think they are getting a deal, they really aren't!

  9. AJ might have to jump in, but I don't think there is any more SMR spectrum that Sprint can acquire.

Again, the network will never be able to solely rely on Band 41. It needs PCS and SMR for the areas that B41 cannot reach. AND - PCS is needed for a good voice experience until VoLTE becomes the standard (years away, if ever). 600 will not be ready for quite some time (if ever) and Band 26 alone is not adequate for a reliable network experience beyond the reach of B41.

I'm also not quite sure why you keep referencing Sprint's PCS holdings as "limited." In most major markets Sprint has at least 30MHz of PCS spectrum. The hold back from using that for LTE right now is the CDMA requirements. As more and more LTE handsets are out there, and VoLTE is rolled out, CDMA usage will be trimmed back, and you will see more widespread deployment of a second PCS carrier, and possibly a third if deemed necessary (and the antennas are capable?).

David, does Sprint have CDMA estimated shutdown date? Verizon announced plans to shut theirs down right?

  10. The reason the iPhone 6 is behaving poorly on Band 26 is because either Sprint or Apple, not sure which one, released a crappy Carrier Bundle in iOS 8.3 that causes the phone to drop off of LTE at a much higher signal level than it should. The iOS 9 betas have a much better carrier bundle that cause the device to hold onto LTE like it should, which the general public does not have access to, which is why most people's devices are having crappy RF performance. It's kind of like back when the Nexus 5 had that really amazing radio software that everyone clung onto even though there was a newer one out, because the new one messed up it's amazing RF performance. The only difference is us iOS users don't have that kind of freedom to just choose our radio software.

How is 8.4 beta doing with holding onto LTE?

  11. Is it likely that in order to get subscribers off of grandfathered unlimited plans, Sprint may not allow subscribers to upgrade phones at the subsidized prices? I know Verizon has done this and I would be extremely disappointed if Sprint decides to follow suit. This is assuming that subsidized phones/contract plans still exist in the next couple years, which doesn't seem very likely with all other networks eliminating their contract plans.

  12. I was in Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore this weekend and I have never experienced such horrid service from Sprint. Even with 1 or 2 bars, I had blocked calls about 90% of the time. When calls connected, the audio quality was so poor it wasn't worth staying on the phone. I couldn't receive or send texts and data wasn't even present. Had to pray that I would roam on Verizon (?) to even get any voice or data service. Such a disappointment, especially since Sprint has upgraded the area towers.

  13. That really blows. Do you know which tower you were connected to? Have you ever been there before, and if so how did service compare?

I have never been there before so I can't compare. I did have friends on Verizon and AT&T that had no problems with their networks though. I believed I was connected to NO72XC023 as I was closer to that tower but I may have also been connected to NO72XC011

  15. Anyone experiencing choppy incoming audio? I've had it more than a few times while at home. We use FIOS. It's impossible to have a conversation so I end up turning off wifi and calling the person back. It would be nice if it could hand off. It's also happened a few other places. Mostly public wifi.

I've had problems with blocked calls and incoming calls not connecting, though this has not been a very big problem as voice calls are super clear when wifi calling works, which is most of the time. When I am on Sprint's network, voice is usually choppy and robotic at home so wifi calling is a much needed improvement. I have Sprint's ASUS router but decided to use Apple's Time Machine instead after seeing that the connection was unreliable.
