Sorry if this has been asked before but is the signal strength a tower transmits constant? I get that internet speeds will fluctuation when there is less or more traffic but what i never understood is the fluctuation of signal strength one receives on their phones. is there a correlation with the two?

Not likely. Band 41 is 2.5 ghz. If you barely get Band 26, which is 800 mhz, then the next step up would be Band 25 which is 1.9 ghz.
I'll confirm when i get home which bands the Samsung S4's get. Here in Fresno, my LG gets band 25 and i really think that's what the Samsung S4's are getting too.

It does make a difference. Tethering on "unlimited" data plans violates Sprint's Ts and Cs, and S4GRU rules prohibit such discussion. But if you are using "unlimited" data only on the phones, then you are within the Ts and Cs.
As Tim noted, a band 26 capable booster could be useful. It is also possible that band 26 has not yet been optimized on your serving site, hence is operating at lower power. If so, then a signal booster may not be necessary in the long run.

is it possible to get band 41 if reception for band 26 is better than avg.?
-
Are you using data just on the phones? Or are you also using the data connection from the phones to feed other devices at home?
AJ
just our phones - does that make a difference?
My phone rarely gets 4g (LG FLEX) and the other phones get 4G about 50% of the time.

We can help. Are you using an "unlimited" data plan on one or more of your handsets as the broadband source for other devices at home?
AJ
We have 3 phones and all have the unlimited data plan.

If you barely get band 26 I highly doubt you'll get band 41 so that's not a priority.
Weboost models are popular. They're formerly known as Wilson electronics.

Thanks. Too bad Sprint didn't ask me where to place their tower. I'm about 2.5 miles away from the tower and i'm sure that moving it 1/2 mile closer would have made a world of difference. I was at my mother's house yesterday who's about 1 mile away from the tower and on band 41 i got 39 mbps speeds yesterday.

Make sure the signal booster supports LTE band 25/26 and that's all u need.

Great........do you have one you recommend? what about band 41?

LTE at home should not be a priority. As long as home broadband is available, your handsets should be on Wi-Fi for data usage at home. That gives you a better data experience and removes unnecessary burden from the macro network.
Now, we do understand that weak LTE reception at home can affect incoming calls on tri band handsets. Options available to you include turning off LTE while at home or possibly using Sprint's Wi-Fi calling feature.
AJ
We do not have broadband at home as we live too far from U-verse or Comcast and my only source for internet is my phone. So how can you help?
-
Anybody have experience with signal boost antennas and whether they actually help. i live on the fringe of the 4G area in 93631. Our Samsung S4 phones will have LTE sevice for most of the time (band 26) but my LG Flex will rarely get any 4G at home.

Nice & Band 41 is apart of Spark right because I know in LA speeds are 128 download & 45 upload depending where you are
Holy Grail!!!..........I know I will have passed on because I don't ever expect to see that in my lifetime!
-
what speeds are you getting & Band 41 is Spark Speed right?
I got 22.10 mbps and 13.75 mbps but since then it's been a total dog with connecting most of the time to 3G. I blame the poor air quality .

Took this today in kingsburg, zip 93631

I wish i knew at the time (i know now) how to take a screen when band 41 was on the hidden menu. The speed was pretty fast and i know think when its hitting those crazy 17 mpbs it must be on that bad. As i have mentioned in the past, i hiy those speeds occasionly about once every 10 days or so.
-
Band 41 will be my white rhino for now as it seems to be hiding right now. I got band 41 while waiting to pick up my son from school which is about a mile away from the tower. I am now further away at home which is about 2.5 miles away and signal strength drops a lot.

The hidden sprint menu shows band 41 but LTE discovery shows band 25.
-
Ok.....just went band 25.
-
I just checked and i am band 41 in zip code 93631.
-
Since yesterday, speeds have been decent between 2-4 mbps in Kingsburg and in Fresno downtown where I work, i'm getting 2-3 mbps now. Did something happen? Did we lose more users which increase available bandwidth

I will move it to the top and update the verbiage a little more. Because it is starting to get obsolete.
don't change on my account.......i was just trying to be funny.

You didn't pay attention again.
you can't expect me to read all the way to the bottom of the post where it says in large letters that it doesn't apply to tri-band phones, etc. You're expecting too much from your audience

It is still useful to Uniband LTE device holders who are using older OS'es.
Can i suggest something about not for Tri-band phones or does it already say that and i just didn't pay attention....again

Examine the date and the metadata. That info is from 2012 -- well before the release of tri band, single RF path, e/CSFB handsets. Circumstances have changed.
AJ
Seems like it should be unpinned unless it's still useful for other reason otherwise it will confuse newbies like me.

Not sure what i can gleam from that thread other than SNR fluctuation cause interference with tower signal.
