  1. So I went back to Blanding and Parkridge and captured these photos and frequency scans. Shed is no longer in use https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0057.JPG Everything goes to these BTS cabinets https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0060.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0067.JPG Better photos of antennas and RRUs https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0059.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0065.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0077.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0078.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0081.JPG Side view/long shot https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_4945.JPG CDMA1x-800 looks to be active, But nothing showing for Band 26 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/870.JPG Band 25 (1992.5MHz) PCS downlink is nice and active. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/1992.5.JPG Nothing showing for Band 41 that I can tell. I have some signals in the 2500MHz range, but think they are coming from the old WiMax tower or from a different site!?!?. Does the new 8T8R units support both LTE and WiMax? I didn't save the entire range as it wasn't that active. This was the highest signal strength I found in that range. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/2530.JPG I'm pretty new to RTL-SDR and HackRF. Just purchased my HackRF a week ago. Pretty cool device. I'm using a 2.5/5GHz 2.9dbi antenna on it for those scans. Edit: I'm guessing this is the MetroPCS (now T-Mobile?) PCS band (downlink ch) in use at that site or nearby. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/1946.JPG Regards,
  2. I see now. It's kind of hard to tell what antennas are at what level with the long photo shots. The entire middle section is now gone as you indicated. They had a different antenna style facing south. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9333%20-%20Copy.JPG There are 6 large coaxial cables going to the antennas, only 4 in the shed photo. Must have been an additional path way I didn't see when I took the photo. I'm guessing the new fiber goes to a different equipment cabinet or via that other pathway. I'll head over there in a few and grab some better photos. I can't wait to see what B26 and B41 can do from this location. I still pick up B26 from sleepy hollow at my house in Tanglewood. I need to see if I can grab some signal strength readings using my RTL-SDR or HackRF. My phone may still just like the B26 from Sleepy Hollow better. Wish I was closer to the center of the beamwidth. I'm on the edge. I may try and survey this direction when I run out as well to see what sector I'm on. Thanks.
  3. Is that site active? I see the old cables are cut and no new fiber/cables to the tower?!? Old photo a month ago https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9343.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9333.JPG two days ago. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0049.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0046.JPG they added a whole new section and didn't take down the old antennas (except for some tiny antennas with reflectors). I'm still confused on what antennas were sprint/nextel prior. I'm going to swing back by today as it's a clear day and get better photos. edit: OK. after looking at the photo further I see what looks like fiber splices/enclosures and cables going down the pole, though I don't see where they comes out to the shack. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_0045%20-%20Copy.JPG
  4. Very nice. I was thinking that signal was coming from the other tower on Kingsley as the Sprint NV site didn't show any towers next to Blanding for that area. I need to snap some photos of that tower now.
  5. Nope. It's always been only T-Moble and Verizon. Nextel/IDEN is easy to find locations doing an FCC license/tower search as each area was specifically licensed vs the general regional licenses they have now. Nextel/Sprint was only at Parkridge & Sleepy Hollow near here. Unless someone pulled the permit in Sprints name on accident, I'm really hoping they do put some gear at that location. The location on Blanding next to Bowl America also shows a Sprint permit. Here is a drawing I just put togeher real quick from my house off Pawnee St. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/graphic.png
  6. Incase anyone wants my current test list from the other day. I plan to compile with my log files. 7. Here is a couple photos of the AT&T tower. Gotta love the fake buzzards (look like mascovy ducks) hanging on the tower https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9354.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9363.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9357.JPG Here is a photo looking towards the Middleburg tower from Knightboxx. I need to drive down and take photos of it sometime. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9367.JPG I thought I may have recieved Band 41 on the corner of Knightboxx. Need to look back through my logs in a bit. I was thinking it may be coming from the clear shot to the Middleburg tower. My current test sheet shows I recieved the following signals from the corner of Knightboxx and Blanding -94 04A11B02 9474 B25 Blanding & Knightboxx Middleburg? -91 04A8831A 9524 B26 Blanding & Knightboxx Middleburg?
  8. That's what I was thinking. But there is a permit. I bet because AT&T owns the tower that clear is on now across blanding, they needed something to fill in the gap. Plus the tower on parkridge with the nest on it can't be upgraded anytime soon. Another gap. I'd be really happy to have this tower go active because I'm in that gap in Tanglewood. I get LTE from Sleepy Hollow (which isn't that bad of signal). Permit #: 13030442 Address: 9 KNIGHT BOXX RD Owner: SPRINT Contractor: MORGAN ELECTRIC Scope: ELECTRICAL ANTENNA CO LOCATE
  9. Well Sprint has two versions of 4G. 4G WiMax and 4G LTE. I bet he was trained to think that 4G is WiMax (most sprint phones that say 4G in the name are WiMax only). I don't know of any other carriers that are using WiMax. Definatly not under any ownership of Sprint as it's a wireless standard that anyone can get licensed on (just depends on frequencies used). I use it for private network coverage on large sites inlieu of 802.11. But more than likely they are all idiots in the store as they are there to sell phones. Most of the tech's you talk to on the phone are not much smarter.
  10. What's even cooler is there are plans for some of the sites on there along with the permits.
  11. Aweomse stuff!! I never thought of looking up the building/electrical permits. Clay county has all the scanned documents for all the permits. There are tower locations identified that sprint doesn't even show on the NV uprade page. I was thinking I had stronger single at some of these areas. For instance the website https://network.sprint.com/search/32065/ does not show a tower at Knightboxx Rd. But there is a permit for that location. Time to re-review all my tower locations. http://www.claycountygov.com/services-we-provide/public-records-search-1/building
  12. It's part of a transmission line so I'm guessing the less they need to access the top the better for those locations. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9449.JPG
  13. I have a Canon Rebel DSLR w/ 300mm but for these I am using my standard Canon SX260 point and shoot w/ 20x zoom. Thanks
  14. Looking back over my testing. It looks like the Sleepy Hollow location does have B41 Signal GCI TAC Band Location -90 0208A200 8320 B41 Sleepy Hollow Tower -98 0208A201 8320 B41 Sleepy Hollow Tower There are two towers on Sleepy Hollow. According to some of the information I read, Clearwire was on one of the towers and Sprint/Nextel was on the other tower. Here is a photo of the 2nd tower that I assumed is not Sprint. Anyone know more about this location? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9371.JPG
  15. Here are some better photos of the location at Blanding and Constitution. B41 was still not online yet as of Friday. Maybe this week?? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9409.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9425.JPG Some other towers in Orange Park Sleepy Hollow still only has WiMax along with B25/B26. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9386.JPG Blanding/Parkridge still is at B25 probably due to the protected birds nest (sign on gate indicates Federal Protected) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9333.JPG Wells Rd is B25/B26 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9435.JPG I plan on further documenting all sites around Middleburg/Orange Park and the Southside of Jax in the next week or two. Here is the tower off Gate Parkway next to the FBI building with B25/B26 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106286908/IMG_9453.JPG
