  1. Hey guys, chiming in to confirm the rollout of nTelos LTE in Richmond, VA. Went in to the store today with my friend who has nTelos to get her a SIM card for her iPhone 5 and saw that all the LTE phones said LTE in their status bars (iPhones, Moto X, etc). I'll try and grab a pic later. One thing to note though is that they weren't able to giver her a SIM card because her plan type was incompatible. She has $99 value plan for 2 lines, and the rep informed us that a switch to the nControl plan was required ($140 for the same services!) :/ The rep also told me that the Richmond area will be served by nTelos LTE not Sprint, and that most of the area is already covered (but speeds will be fluctuating between fast and slow as they're still finishing the tower upgrade). I'm not sure how true that the bit about nTelos being the sole RIchmond provider is given that Sprint has been slowly rolling out here for some time, with reports of some Band 41 towers even being installed.
  2. Right, I wasn't saying there were need to be a swap on the SIM or change, I was just putting the dots together regarding the interoperability . I have a friend with nTelos whose phone/network I have access to very often, so that's why I wanted to check if it was ready to connect to LTE as some smaller carrier would ship the CDMA phones w/o a SIM card before their LTE deployment simply because it wasn't necessary. It looks like you will need to go out and get a SIM from the store or have it activated, and thus (according to the sales rep), change your plan to be "4G compatible"
  3. I just tested the speed on a friends iPhone 5 in the Short Pump area and got a speed of 21 Mbps Down and 7 Mbps Up on 4 bars of LTE (Band 25). Not looking too bad!
  4. Hey there guys, I heard the good news today, so I decided to confirm a few facts for a friend on nTelos. I've attached the photo, but it seems that to use 4G you'll need to 1) Get a SIM card from the store and 2) Change your plan to the nControl plan. Also, I saw nTelos is using Band 2 for it's deployment while Sprint devices use Band 25. It looks like phones with either band can access both networks given that the current batch of nTelos/Sprint 4G phones are almost exclusively Band 25, while the nTelos network is actually Band 2.
