  1. Los Angeles seems to be off and on. It's progressing, but it seems like they have slowed down a bit. I'm hoping its like Chicago and we start seeing big acceptances soon.

yeah I know what you mean. It's very spotty but coverage keeps improving which is all we could ask fo r. Now if it stops Improving g th en we worry lol
  2. As of yesterday, I began receiving LTE in my house! I usually have wi-fi running but I don't turn it on until I need the phone so I thought it was odd when I saw the "4G" icon.

The speeds aren't too crazy, 3542 kbps down 2642 down, but leaps and bounds better than the +/- 300kbps I was used to getting, and best of all, consistent.

I'm located in Lawndale, near Manhattan Beach Blvd, between Hawthorne and Inglewood. I checked out the completed sites map, but it looks like it hasn't been updated since March 6th. I'll run sensorly when I leave work today and hopefully have a better idea where the signal is coming from.

interesting I'm in Hawthorne myself near inglewood Ave on 135th St. Gunna keep my eye out for some LTE goodness in my neck of the woods. Will keep u guys posted.
  3. I think the rollout is going good I see new spots on the map every day but none where I live, just all the way around like Sprint is trolling me lol

  4. It can be waisted if you are actually connected to lte and 2 it is dependent on how well you signal. Strength to the actual tower is. I also I'd like to point out that perhaps people see no difference because they always have lte on and don't test it for they're own conclusions. This is just my personal experiences and doesn't necessarily mean they are the same for others as well.

Leaving LTE on kills battery? First I've heard that.

And yes, only some of the towers are on/complete. It will take until sometime next year for all the towers to be upgraded, at which point coverage will nearly match that of current 3G coverage.

yes lte radio kills battery big time

They have stepped up their game. THEY ARE ACTIVELY DEPLOYING LTE IN YOUR AREA. They had to deploy fast mobile broadband starting in 2008 because of the build out requirements on EBS/BRS spectrum. They had no choice but to use WiMax back then. LTE was not ready to start being deployed until the 2nd Half of 2010, just before build out requirements were about to expire. WiMax was the only technology on the market at the time they could use. Also, WiMax was specifically designed for high frequency spectrum like EBS/BRS.

Please do not complain any further. Your posts are just complaints. We do not host Sprint complaints. If you do not want to discuss Network Vision/LTE deployment, and just want to complain about it, you may want to go to another forum besides S4GRU.

LA did start in the beginning. But the LA market has over 1,000 sites. Sprint is not doing a thin LTE overlay over the whole city, but they are dismantling and replacing every piece of hardware in their entire network and creating multi modal base stations. An entirely new network from top to bottom, and adding LTE along the way. They are replacing all the equipment at every site and upgrading to new fiber and fiber backed backhaul.

Sprint is adding LTE to every one of their sites in the country. In LA, it means it is going to take awhile to complete totally. But LTE service will grow and grow every week. And 3G also improves one tower at a time too.

  8. Hey Everyone! I have a Evo 4G LTE and a couple weeks ago I was getting intermittant but strong 4G north of Culver City near Palms and Overland. Since then I havent seen 4G at all. Is this all just testing or has LA "gone live"?

it seems testing. Don't think they have done a soft release either

I think the South Bay has just started receiving eHRPD in the last few days that I know of. Hopefully this is a sign that more LTE towers will be coming online soon.

I'm in Hawthorne Lawndale area and still no let just ehrpd so hopefully we do get lte from the soft launch if it is happening in Nov. My b day too haha
