  1. Ive had hope ever since I started following this thread, it's just nice seeing results in person. Calling and texting is still a little spotty in the house so I'll be ready for a WiFi calling update. Then it will be so long for the air rave. Thanks again for everyone's help. It'll be a sad/happy day when I no longer need to check this forum!

  2. I fully understand. I wasn't trying to bash sprint. I just had a legitimate question and I figured the speed test would help. I have never said anything negative about sprint, nor would I. My ten plus years have been great. Every carrier has issues. Every company has issues. People who complain can go some where or leave. Thanks again

I made the mistake of defending sprint on a couple of their community forums (customer for 10+ years). The titles of the forums were something along the lines of "sprint service sucks" and "we should get money back for no LTE" now my inbox gets flooded with updates mostly of idiots complaining that their phones didn't work for a second and now they are switching carriers. They have absolutely no idea what they are talking about or what the new NV will look like. I really can't thank everyone here enough for being so positive and informative. I prefer intelligent, informative conversation rather than ALL CAPS complaining with 1 out of 5 words misspelled.

  3. Did you have to pay the 99 for that? Or did Sprint provide it because of poor coverage?

Sprint provided it to me. I've lived at 3 different places in Denver and I couldn't so much as send a text at all 3 locations. If it wasn't for the great price they have on unlimited data with no throttling I would have switched years ago. For about a year I didn't have internet or cell coverage and I was able to survive so I guess I'm not the type of person who starts throwing a fit if my phone doesn't work (see Louis C.K. standup). I think/hope it is primarily the phones I have had since moving here. I've read the htc evo 4g and the galaxy s2 typically get poor signals. Hopefully the s5 will be much better because i'm pretty much sold on it even though it hasn't been released.

  4. This made me laugh. I enjoy your spirit. And it never hurts to speculate. :tu:

It's interesting to consider this. The big problem with your idea though is that Sprint's Band 41 LTE (Spark TD-LTE 2600) will not work on Triband smartphones without CSFB installed and running on the 3G network that the device is connected to. We write about this here:  http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-357-nexus-5-and-lg-g2-experience-temporary-sprint-lte-connectivity-issues-due-to-circuit-switched-fallback-technology/

So if Sprint mad rushes Band 41 LTE (Spark) to all the sites it can in Denver (of which half are already done), then it will just sit there and wait being under utilized until Network Vision upgrades appear and enable CSFB.  As dkoellerwx mentions above, Samsung had to switch gears last Fall and deploy just the 3G side first because of the CSFB problem.

And here is the dirty little secret.  Sprint only has a paltry 14 share in Denver.  Only one Top 15 market has less subscribers...San Francisco.  With Network Vision, some places had to be first.  And some places have to be last.  It makes sense for Sprint to do Denver last.  But since Sprint only has 14% of the market (and likely even less now) you can all take solace that a Sprint Triband network when built out will likely be the least burdened of all Top 15 markets.

So are the CSFB (I still have no idea what that means, no need to explain though) upgrades going along with the LTE? Will Tri-band phones be able to use the 2.5 band while still being able to receive calls as soon as the LTE rollout is complete or will we be waiting for the CSFB? Thanks

  5. First time poster here, I've been patiently waiting for this rollout in Denver and this forum has been extremely helpful. I would like to thank each and every contributor for their time and effort in informing everyone of what's going on. I've been waiting to upgrade my phone for months now, my galaxy s2 that I have had since the paleolithic era is on its last leg. The only reason I've kept it is for wimax which has been a life saver due to the weak 3g signals I get. Well now that LTE is around the corner, it's time to buy a new phone. My questions is whether or not I should get a tri-band phone. If Denver doesn't get spark in the next 2 years I can wait until then, if they are expected to get it sometime soon I would be willing to only look at the few phones that provide tri band. Does anyone have the faintest idea of when Denver should be getting spark?
