25Mbps? Orlando LTE is weak. I get an average of probably 2 to 5Mbps down when I'm connected outside with my phone taped to a 50 ft pole I'm holding straight up in the air. Rarely do I ever see anything better than that. And it basically doesn't work indoors. I guess you get what you pay for.

Seems about right, late 2014. Verizon is apparently rolling out their AWS spectrum now. I'm hearing they are getting speeds up to 80Mbps. If they get that in Orlando anytime soon I'm done with Sprint until they finish their entire Network Vision rollout in 2016. They are just so far behind. Somebody on another forum was getting 64Mbps down/15Mbps up on the new Verizon AWS already. Incredible.

Sounds like Sprint LTE service is going to be pretty poor until Tri-Band devices and service are more widespread. Not good since I'm not sure when that will be. End of 2014?

Both. I have a tower that's less than 2 miles from my house that just went live recently. I don't get reception until I get to less than a mile from it. And then it's very weak until I get within probably 100 yards or so. It seems pretty much useless and that's all out doors.

Is it just me or does the distance and strength of LTE signal from towers seem very weak? It's like it only works within a mile or 2 of the tower and then goes right to 3G.

Does this mean they are going to flip some switches and their LTE is going to actually come alive in Orlando? Or are they actually about to launch it in it's current abysmal state? I guess I'm asking, will there be any difference between right now and when they launch in the next week other than their normal/minimal progress?

Not much news lately from Sprint, but seems like they're slowly making progress. I'm guessing we're not going to see an Orlando launch in 2013? Also, in the areas that have LTE, seems like some towers are fast (very very rare), but most of them are crappy. Might this be because they aren't finished putting in backhaul? Meaning, when I run a speed test I get < 2Mbps. Also, indoors, forget it. If I don't have Wifi I might as well not use my phone. Is everyone else experiencing the same issues? Well let me ask it another way, does anyone feel as if the current state of LTE in Orlando is anywhere near launchable? Having "LTE" show up on your phone and actually having LTE performance is a completely different thing. Right now seems like the service, even when connected to LTE, is not very good (80% of the time when connected to LTE). Hopefully this improves soon.

I'm not necessarily trying to complain. I'm upset about it yes, but I am just saying I think they made a good chosen given the current state of Sprint's network. Maybe in 2 years it'll be where other competing networks were a years ago. And I do get 0.06 Mbps down or worse a lot of times when I do speed tests that are pretty close to downtown Orlando. Sad, unfortunately, but true. Hopefully we'll have a reliable LTE connection from Sprint by the time 2014 rolls around. Who knows. It's frustrating, but at least we have this web site to track the progress and talk with like minded folks. So kudos for that at least.

Good choice. I'm getting laughed at by all my co workers for sticking with Sprint. Even the ones with T-Mobile who do LTE speed tests in my face and think it's funny when they see my 0.06 Mbps down.

So let me ask this, are you guys happy with the coverage in Orlando to where you feel it should be a "launched city?"

Should I come back to Sprint
gf11speed replied to kripatel's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I don't know about T-Mobile but Sprint is not a network I would switch to if I was considering it. Not at the current time. Their network is unfinished, in progress, and flat out garbage in a lot of places. Yea, maybe it'll be great when it's done, but "when it's done" is in some unknown amount of time. I'd switch to AT&T or Verizon for 2 years and re-evaluate then. -
http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-expands-lte-coverage-map-and-turns-on-more-4g-lte-markets.htm lol of course not. Maybe by February. Keep waiting and paying your bill on time.

Connected for 20-30 seconds or so? Me too. Then Sprint disappears with it's Houdini service.

I'd be more than happy to explain why. Your phone is fine. It's because the Sprint Network in Orlando sucks. It's almost 2014 and Sprint users can't even stream audio or radio. So what would make anybody think that you would be able to consistently connect to a Sprint LTE tower during their 10 year rollout?

While there are towers that are slowly popping up, the coverage is still largely horrendous. Outside of the upgraded towers, Sprint's service is unusable in most areas. I live about 3 miles from downtown Orlando (south east side) and my data speeds are 100% unusable. It's a joke. I'd say I get between 0 and 0.08 Mbps down on my $600 paper weight smartphone. Driving around town you might see "4G" popup on your phone and occasionally great speeds, but more times than not you get either no data connection or "4G" between 1-3 Mbps or so. With that said if I had to rate my LTE experience throughout Orlando, I'd give it a 1 out of 10. Meaning 10% of the time I get a connection that is actually worthy of the name "LTE." And that's generous.

I don't understand why there is a tower that has been upgraded to 4G less than a mile from my work office, yet doesn't connect outside the office and only works on the 5th floor. The data speeds are less than 3G when connected to 4G. But apparently this tower is already updated. Is there any reason for this? Are they not done with that tower after all? Have they not added the backhaul? I thought those marked "4G" were done. Maybe I'm mistaken. I know this from the coverage maps on the sponsored site. Hope I didn't give any info I wasn't supposed to, just that the "4G" upgraded tower is less than a mile from my work office.

I might be the exception because I hate Sprint. Yet I'm here for some unexplained reasons. lol I'm the guy who buys $500 phones just to get 2G speeds and then gets laughed at by co workers. Robert, please tell me I'm going to be the one who gets the last laugh?

That's pretty much exactly what I get. Or roaming at my house 3 miles away from downtown. Sprint should be paying you to use their service.
