Anyone else having huge battery drains from Bluetooth? It seems to be especially bad when I'm driving and the phone is synced to my fords radio.
-
Ever since the 4.4 KK OTA upgrade I've been noticing a massive battery drain on my phone when I'm driving in my car. I have a Ford with the MyFordSync stereo. With the latest update to Hangouts I'll see 15-20% battery usage for hangouts and bluetooth. The culprit appears to be StartingObexMapTransaction in com.andorid.bluetooth.Bluetooth. The wake lock lasts for as long as I'm driving (which also means for as long as the phone is synced up with the myfordsync). I didn't see this in 4.2 and the battery drain is slightly better if I uninstall the Hangouts update.
Does anyone else have this issue? It is exceptionally annoying, especially on days when I spend 3+ hours driving. I try not to keep my phone plugged in when driving to avoid unnecessarily putting the battery through charge cycles.

Any word on when the team d3rp zvc base band version will be released?

I believe it is sprint. I got it. Nothing too noticeably different.
I just disabled it, not noticing any failures yet.

It would be like your very own Airave that is always with you.
And actually works consistently instead of you phone bouncing around to the bad spring signal then into your airave and then back and forth until your battery is at 15% by 7pm and you haven't hardly used the phone at all. I love and hate my airave...

I know many will respond that everything is perfect with their phone. But, I am wondering why does my phone take quite a while from the time I hit the dial button to the actual time it starts to ring? Sometimes it can take 25 seconds, sometimes, it doesn't ring out at all then I say something such as "hello" and my voice echo's back and sometimes it just has a long delay then ends the attempt of the call.
The most common issue is the loooong delay from the time I hit dial to an actual ring occurs.
Lastly, this has not JUST started. I believe it all started once I received the Spark update. It could of been before that but I think it start with the update that brought Spark.
You can thank the cellular network for that. Noting to do with the phone usually.

First thing I did on my phone was ensure connections optimizer was turned off.

Can we see the battery usage below that?

Well... I'd have to say we have 300 or so users that would strongly contend that d3rpG2 Rom is really good (very stable) and heftily supported. Yes, I'm biased but it really is, awfully good.
We're prepping to drop our Milestone One (2 releases on the last rom base and 1 on the new ZVA base) and then will surely get the KK rom base (youdug who is also Team d3rp has done the ODEX and DEODEX bases for the Sprint G2 community) and start porting mods and making it all pretty again cause that's what we do.
Does it support miracast, slimport, the ir blaster?

This may be the reason for the delay ZVB and the change to ZVC:

Please don't beat me up, but how can I tell if I'm in a HD call? I was talking to my co-worker with a S4 and it was ultra clear. We were on the same tower but wasn't sure on where to check.
I believe that remarking to yourself about how clear it sounds is about the only indicator I've heard about.

Google play services was sucking down all sorts of power up until a few days ago for me. Now I'm back to the normal 30% total usage in a normal day. Seems to have happened when I got the 55018 prl, I have an airave at home so maybe that has something to do with it?

I don't see why that would be a problem

Get a screen protector. Problem solved.
Or just dedicate a pocket to your phone and don't put anything else in there that could scratch it (keys, coins, anything hard).
I personally use a nillkin case for my g2.works great, even keeps the screen off of a surface of you put the phone face down.

One thing to remember with high ISO settings is the amount of noise that you will get with them. I try and shoot around 100-800 ISO on my Canon 50D. That range is typically pretty good for keeping the image clean of sensor noise. That said, you can use those higher ISO settings to introduce a bit of artistic flare in your photos to make them look a little grainy.
All part of the fun.

I haven't had any issues with my g2 either. Really hoping the kit Kat update comes soon though.

What rom were you on?
Completely stock ROM. TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.3

Garwynn just posted a modified zip that bypasses the checks/recovery and is flashable in TWRP. I just installed it myself and all seems to be working great!

Oh good, another icon to further clutter up the bar up top.
I'm actually most interested in Tap and Pay with Google Wallet. Does anyone happen to know if/when support for that will be baked in to the G2 (or if there's some what to hack it in via root or some such)? I got rather spoiled with my SG3 and the looks people would give me like I was some kind of wizard for tapping my phone on the credit card pad to pay for things.

Has anyone figured out how to pull the MSL for these devices?
