  1. Chicago market now shows 4G LTE for the entire market under coverage.sprint.com

    Holy LTE Batman!

It looks like the Rockford area is also bathed in LTE goodness as well. This likely means the official announcement is not too far away. It also means I need to run more Sensorly. =P

EDIT: Looks like it was announced this morning: http://www.heraldonline.com/2012/10/22/4354590/sprint-brings-4g-lte-to-customers.html

  2. One weird issue I'm having with my tower... If I call landlines, I never hear the phone "ring". It's dead silent and then out of nowhere "hello?" they answer. Doesn't happen with any cell I call.

Sent from my JB iPhone 4S using Forum Runner

My wife has been experiencing this on her Sprint dumb phone for the past few months. I am not sure what towers she has been one when it happens, though. However, it happens randomly when calling her mom's landline, and hasn't yet happened for other calls. This has never happend on either my HTC Evo 4G or Galaxy S3. It is interesting to hear that others are having this same problem...I always assumed it was the phone! =P

  3. I'm actually kind of surprised at your being unable to use WiMAX and voice at the same time previously, if this is indeed what you're talking about.

I have been on the phone and using WIMAX 4G on both my (old) Epic 4G and my EVO 4G. I am glad to hear that my new GS3 can do 3g/4g and voice at the same time.

  4. I can't even pick up a 4G signal anymore when I'm on Lincoln HWY and Cicero. I tried today coming back from church and nothing came up. Are these towers being turned off periodically?

I believe most (if not all) of them are being turned on for testing, then turned off. There was a tower near my house that was broadcasting 4g for about a few days, then it suddenly stopped.

Most likely, all of these towers will start broadcasting 4g all at once on Sprint's Chicago go-live date (which they haven't announced yet).

How can I force LTE? I have the Samsung Galaxy S3. I updated network settings to LTE/CDMA and it rebooted when I first got the phone, however I have not picked up LTE. I was at the Atlanta airport for 2 hours on 7/15 (no LTE) and drove pass the Jewel mentioned above (no LTE).

This is off topic, so you may be better off posting a new thread. However, setting the modem to LTE/CDMA should be all you need to do. I didn't do anything special to get on LTE. Also note that there are several Jewel-Oscos in Naperville (this is the one on IL-59 near Dominicks). The tower itself is actually along side the highway on the Western side just north of 95th street).
