I'd agree that *conservative* or tapered throttling would be better than caps and overage charges, but not like how att/tmobile drop you from 3g/4g to an un-usable .0000002kbs* if you go over some arbitrary limit.
*obvious exaggeration
0.0000002 kbps would come out to about 0.72 bits per hour--just to illustrate the magnitude of the exaggeration.

Browsing websites and forums via tapatalk, maybe play card ace casino (now big fish casino) for 20-25 min. Send a couple of texts, check email and respond or compose 1 or 2 at max. Rarely do I talk on the phone - but at most it would be like 5-10 minutes. I've tried setting the brightness and using autodim, & do not keep the GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi switched on. Tried it with sprint's autoconnect on and off. Primarily I use it for internet access when out and about, but nothing really otherwise except use of an app here or there, and that lays me out with a 15-20% battery life after about 2 to 2.5 hours.... closer to 15 and going quickly!!
I haven't done any custom Rom or other. tweaks .
I have forced dump /terminated apps via the the task manager submenu, and at times it says it that it ended about 52, 37, 28 running apps give or take a few. AlsAlso those numbers of background processeses occur at about the same rate of occurance...
So, sorry if I explained and/or described that poorly, but a couple of hours give or take of battery life I think qualifies as being deemed " horrible " .
Could I have a dud battery...?

Have you unplugged the USB toaster?
Seriously though, that sounds like a defective battery or device.

I've found that when I use the "map trip" function on Sensorly, my GS3 is more likely to get stuck on 3G and not return to 4G, even in places where I know I have a good 4G signal (i.e. places where I've done fast speed tests.) It seems that when I'm actively using data on 3G, the phone (or network?) doesn't switch back until the data usage is complete.
That said, when I've had a constant 4G signal, the Sensorly app has plotted out miles of 4G trails on their coverage maps. Example: all along 121 between downtown Fort Worth and 820, and in my neighborhood of the Near Southside and the hospital district.
Regardless of Sensorly's capabilities, I've noticed a marked improvement of 4G coverage over the past few weeks in Funkytown.

I live in LOCATION X. I can only assume I got LTE so soon because Sprint wanted to say "Thank you for being awesome."

The record comparison isn't lost on me, even if most of my music hasn't seen anything more physical than a hard drive platter or an Ethernet cable
I seem to recall the slight skipping issue while playing music on the phone using one of the stock players. However it's been awhile since I tested it as WinAmp's crappy UI is more than balanced by its gapless, flawless playback capabilities (for me anyway...and yes I paid $5 for gapless playback). I also haven't had issues with AmazonMP3. Maybe the stock player is just CPU-intensive or memory-intensive, and you need to quit some background apps?
Stock 32GB updated pebble blue here too
I tried the AmazonMP3 app just now and found that it didn't have the popping and crackling. I guess it's just the stock music app has some issues with mp3 files.

Two weird issues with my Galaxy S3 that I wanted to see if anyone knows anything about.
1. When I play mp3 files on my GS3, I get a popping/crackling sound...kinda like the sound a record player makes when the needle goes over a scratch on an vinyl record (I realize that comparison may be lost on some of you.) The files aren't corrupted because I know they work when I transfer them to other devices. In fact, when I loaded WinAmp on my GS3, they play without the popping sound, so there doesn't seem to be a hardware issue...maybe? Now that may seem like the problem is solved, but I don't really like WinAmp's interface. So I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
2. Yesterday, I got home and my phone was getting a horrible signal. The previous day, I had been basking in the glow of a recent NV upgrade in my neighborhood and had for the first time had a solid LTE signal inside my house. So I started experimenting. I toggled airplane mode and then back...still horrible. I toggled the data network off and on...no improvement. I even restarted the phone...crappy signal. I was about ready to cry in my beer when I tried updating the PRL...and it worked. I had a beautiful LTE signal with fast transfer rates and the signal strength was in the -85 dBm ballpark (although, I think I've read here on S4GRU that the signal strength doesn't tell you the 4G LTE strength, but still...it means I could make a phone call if I wanted to.) I instantly chalked it up to coincidence, because the PRL version number didn't change and updatIng the "preferred roaming list" shouldn't do anything, right?
So tonight, I pull into my driveway and all I see is a 3G signal with barely a bar at all (signal strength ~ -100 dBm). The first thing I tried was updating the PRL. As soon as it was done "updating," the 4G signal came on and my signal strength was about -80 dBm. It's been working ever since. I'm mystified. I don't have enough data points to even call this a trend, so I'll do more experiments. But is there any possible way that "updating" the PRL could help the phone acquire the signal better?
Oh and one last thing. My phone isn't rooted or anything like that. It's original stock 32 GB memory with the LG8 OTA update. And it's pebble blue--just in case you're fond of incorporating irrelevant data.

Different city but same thing I guess lol
Different state. -84.49 isn't anywhere close to DFW. Were you visiting Atlanta recently?

If you go to Mccart and W Risinger Rd I believe it is, then you should hit 30 megs. I know I'm about 15-20 minutes away, and I can get 26 down tops.
I'm closer to the hospital district. I live in Fairmount.
One thing I've definitely noticed is that my signal is much stronger. Before today, I rarely had more than one or two bars in my house (signal at ~ -100 dBm). Now I've got four to five bars (signal at ~ -85 dBm). I'm hoping this leads to fewer dropped calls and fewer voice dropouts when talking to on the phone.

I got a 4g LTE signal for the first time at my house in south Fort Worth today. It's sporadic, but it was reasonably fast. About 3-4 mbps down. It kept switching over to 3g before the upload speeds could be measured.

I suspect Sprint wouldn't be too happy having subcontractors recording video on top of their towers and then posting that video on YouTube. Seems like a good way to get fired.

Back when I was a kid, we had to send data over two cups and a string using Morse Code.

I was at dinner tonight in Fort Worth when I picked up a weak 4g signal. It was switching back and forth between 4g and 3g. I managed to run a speed test but didn't look up the RSSI (or whatever that is for 4g).
It's not a stellar speed, but considering that the signal wasn't consistent...it was usable.

I know quite a few people who are on other carriers who really want to jump to Sprint, they are just in wait-and-see mode. See what happens with Network Vision. I think there could be millions of likeminded people. Whether or not they will materialize for Sprint is largely dependent on Sprint's action the next 12-24 months.
Robert
Yes, I think Sprint has a great opportunity to improve marketshare if they deliver on Network Vision. I think once the first NV markets are completed, we'll start to see if perceptions of Sprint have improved.

The better question would be, when will unlimited data return on Sprint's competitors as a result of the mass exodus to Sprint's truly unlimited LTE network?
I think Sprint has to prove it can actually provide a consistent product before Verizon and AT&T would see a mass exodus. I have multiple friends who have bailed on Sprint after years of loyalty because their network data speeds are 1990s dial-up modem slow. One friend nearly talked me into buying an unlocked phone and getting a $60 /month plan on T-Mobile. I'm in a Sprint LTE phase one launch area, so I'm giving Sprint a chance. So far I've seen some impressive speeds, but only once in a place where it was useful. I'm cautiously optimistic.

$23 for a 32G on Amazon. You can't beat that. Not sure where your USB port is for your car but you could put that bad boy in an no one would even know it's there.

At that price I almost ordered one just because!
I found a low-profile 16 GB drive at Staples on sale for $5. It's a store brand, but works like a charm for playing music on my car stereo.

No LG8 update here... I'm guessing our updates will arrive in the order of which LTE NV rolls out?
I'm in Fort Worth and still haven't received the update.

This was at a Wing Stop near my neighborhood.
There is a tower in direct sight of the restaurant. I haven't seen a consistent 4G signal from this location before today.
