Getting good speeds off of it?
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
It seemed like it at the time. I had stopped to grab lunch on the way to richmond and noticed it.

I can verify there's LTE in Staunton!
Here's a comparison: LTE in Richmond
Normal nTelos

At least you were in Sprint-land once you passed Atkins/Marion. Heck, even podunk Damascus, VA has LTE. Gosh, I hate nTelos for not rolling out LTE yet... Why didn't Sprint just build out again?
Man,,
I went to take my nephew up to Emory & Henry College but I had to suffer through 3 hours of ntelos land. Man I feel bad for you guys.

Not sure if you guys are interested in this or not, but this is for Danville, VA and surrounding areas. FCC License ID L000015442 commencement date 04/02/2015 expiration date 03/03/2016. Thanks for that! That little bit of info got me this link to an SEC filing... Interesting stuff!

Actually I believe you switch back to corporate coverage on I-81 around Atkins, west of Wytheville/I-77 (when you leave nTelosLand for the vestigal "Southern Virginia" market), although I don't think that area is upgraded yet. You should be able to catch LTE again about 30 minutes east of Bristol.
I do know that there first Sprint tower in Atkins just recently lit up 3G. It used to be 1x, albiet fast 1x since I'd wager very few people were in the cell on it, but still 1x. So glad that's 3G now!

Next time I'm heading to Richmond, I'll stop in Lexington and see if I get anything.
Here's hoping they'll get to the NRV sometime in the next century!

It was not this bad even during the school year... The last several weeks the network in Blacksburg has been... Not really spotty, just slow. Ever since I got here three years ago, I was getting better speeds than in Richmond. The upgrades down there improved things in the river city greatly. Come on nTelos... Fix yoself!
-
Hopefully this along with Lordsutch's post above will show this as on the up and up.
I hope so. However, I have heard of Sprint sending generic NV texts/messages to nTelos-land customers in the past.

I'm in Blacksburg and just got this text. Good news?
SprintFreeMsg: Faster data speeds and stronger voice service will be yours soon. See how this will help you at http://sprint.us/networkupdate5

Maybe there will finally be some news. But don't hold your breath.
Is there a way to listen into the earnings call live?Should have RTFL!What better way to spend the last day of classes!

A news article from a few weeks ago... but provides some insight...
FBR Capital noted in a research report that Sprint was currently on track to build out LTE coverage in portions of Ntelos’ markets beginning as early as next year. Ntelos is currently a roaming partner with Sprint, providing CDMA services to Sprint customers that roam into its markets as well as tapping Sprint for nationwide roaming coverage. FBR added that the overbuild could be accomplished in conjunction with regional operator Shenandoah Telecommunications.
Still doesn't seem to have sped anything up.

I expanded the Sensorly map a bit around VCC mall, Brook and Parham, and Broad and 295 this week. :-) Unfortunately, I couldn't dottle in the area, but i was surprised how wide it was already. Hopefully, by Christmas it will be near the airport!

There is one just south of Harrisonburg, VA between Shentel and nTelos along 81... it is very distinctly delineated on LTE coverage maps.
-
Thats good news! The Richmond market has been somewhat stagnant since the WiMAX rollout, at least in my experience. This bodes well for the are. Next time I'm home, I may take a trek down to Williamsburg to try out LTE down there, which I guess is in the Hampton Roads market; they've built that out pretty well in such a short time if Sensorly is to believed.
-
FYI: I was just driving past Salem, VA on the way to Roanoke when my FreedomPop stick connected, so I'd say that it seems to be working.

Here's the info for the tower I got on 33. I also think I was the one who caught that blip in Harrisonburg. I was sitting in Chipotle listening to the apply announcement when I flipped over to LTE for e few seconds. Didn't see it afterwards, though. Also of interest, the changeover from Shentel to nTelos happened around Mt Crawford/Weyers Cave, just north of Blue Ridge Community College and the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport.
-
Got a great signal driving through Elkton, VA on Route 33. Pretty unexpected since just several minutes earlier, I had intermittent roaming coverage driving across Shenandoah National Park. I really hope Ntelos gets its act together soon...
-
And here is the speed after I had just dropped the LTE signal:
-
Drove from Ruckersville to I-81 at Harrisonburg. Grabbed a constant 4G signal in Elkton. I don't know why Sensorly didn't post the whole thing. I also saw it in Harrisonburg for a few seconds. I'll post screenshots after I get back to BBurg.

Supposedly SoftBank was trying to do this since this summer. It was originally planned to be a merge of DT's T-Mobile USA and Sprint, then SoftBank would've had a majority stake in the combined entity, in which DT would have an minority(in which they could sell as wanted).
DT bailed due to Anti-trust concerns.
Now that is very interesting...

Hopefully they'll use this cash to buy nTelos. Market cap is only 362M.
-
Any more info? I tried calling Sprint and they told me to call nTelos. Then nTelos wouldn't tell me anything.
-
How does nTelos 3G perform?

Not bad. Better than Sprint in Richmond over the summer if I'd guess... Except when there's a football game of course!
I have a buddy who work in the Ntelos IT department, not wireless operations, but I will see if he can shed any light. I know they did LTE trials with Lucent about a year ago.
Based on this PR, I don't know if the LTE they trialed would be compatible with Sprint. AWS is 1700 and Sprint is on 1900, right?

I picked it up driving on 79 this weekend. Then got it again when home in Blacksburg. Finally!
One of thing in doing is Sprint Default not being able to update. Don't know what's up with that.
