plan options while travelling to Canada

When I was in Montreal last August, texts were free in the plan and voice was 59¢/minute without the Canada plan. For a long trip I might go with a PetroCanada or 7/11 Speakout SIM, but it wasn't worth the hassle for 4 days. -

Right, Sprint is supporting Title II primarily because it adds costs for AT&T and Verizon to do business, which improves Sprint's competitive position vis à vis the duopoly; no more, no less. If Sprint still had Embarq on board and had established their own a FIOS or Uverse-like service, or hadn't abandoned Xohm and were still in bed with Big Cable on that rollout, I doubt they'd be taking the same position. Besides which, Title II lets them get in the game as an over-the-top provider on those networks. Imagine a "TV anywhere" bundle of Sprint Wireless + IPTV, delivered over a dumb Comcast pipe when at home or over Spark when you're out and about, for example.

I'm not sure why the better performance of tablets over phones should be surprising; tablets typically have larger antennas and don't have to worry about voice network fallback or (particularly) 911 performance, so they can hang onto fringe and marginal LTE signals to a much greater extent than phones can. -

It remains to be seen what, if anything, Sprint plans to do with the protection sites when the WiMax shutdown happens. They may just switch them off and hope that the FCC doesn't go after them for failing to maintain substantial deployment in the interim between WiMax shutdown and whenever 8T8R B41 LTE is deployed by nTelos. If they're Huawei sites Sprint has to rip the Huawei base station out by the end of next year anyway.
