  1. $649. That's steep. This is really designed to be a contract device. Bummer. I do like the one model for all North America carriers though. I may buy, but I am not going to rush out and get it. I will want to hear about the SIM interoperability with other providers. If it ends up being fully open on Verizon too, then I may do it.

Did you see all those supported bands? Whoa! Verizon support too.

Here are the bands for the Americas SKU:

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10

    WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8

    LTE: Bands: 2/3/4/5/7/12/13/17/25/26/29/41

    CA DL: Bands: B2-B13, B2-B17, B2-29, B4-B5, B4-B13, B4-B17, B4-B29

    And for the international version:

    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    CDMA: not supported

    WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/9/19

    LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/9/19/20/28/41

    CA DL: B3-B5, B3-B8

  2. I agree. But there is something that I noticed that can make the G2 battery life seem not that great its called band 41.

Imagine that! :)  I wonder if the "issues" with the OTA enabling Spark was the high battery drain on our relatively small Nexus 5 battery?  Anyone know how much, if any, battery life is affected in any other Spark enabled phones in Spark markets?

  3. Is there a reason why this phone continues to go to GLOBAL when LTE is recommended under Preferred Network Type?

I'm curious myself.  I see this changed everytime I do a PRL or Profile update.  But with my short sample size, I do notice better coverage in global.  My guess is "LTE (Recommended)" is baked into the Google rom, and "Global" is default for Sprint with their network (hence the change from Sprint network type updates).  But that's only my guess.

  4. I'm not panicking. Just funny how (I don't know what your talking about) Google and (it's coming, I promise) Sprint are handling this. Looks like Sprint is still claiming it's currently being rolled out. Hard to imagine no one has reported this yet through all the Android communities, twitter, etc. See below from sprint community page yesterday:

Hello coasterphotos, Updates are sent out in waves to avoid the system overloading. Watch out for your update and keep us posted. Thanks, Sharon Sprint Social Care

  5. Just sideloaded on all stock, unrooted N5. Very nice update. After it settled it really flies. Camera app is improved and faster, zoom available in HDR mode, speaker volume increased imo, new baseband and radio. Will test radio tomorrow. Overall I am impressed with this little update! 6. Set up google voice today. All went well till i tried to make a call. It takes 15 sec to start ringing. I used the Sprint intergration. I went back and disabled it in Google Voice and the time to ring was back to normal. I went back and set up google voice for just voicemail and everything works fine. As soon as i went back and used Google Voice intergrated with sprint the ring delay came back. I am only using google voice for voicemail now as a result. I did not have this issue with my S3.

    Anyone else have this problem?

I noticed that too a couple weeks ago. Took forever to make a call. Anyways, I disabled google voice in settings online (from pc). Then re enabled. Took a while to fully enable, but did after 30 minutes or so. That seemed to help. Could of been placebo as Google servers may have been overloaded. Who knows for sure. Now seems to be normal outbound calling behavior.

  7. Picked up the Nexus 5 on Thursday. This thing flies. So much better, IMO, than the G2 I returned. Better camera (auto focus was bad on G2), much much more reliable signal (holds onto LTE longer), and faster multi task abilities (especially with ART runtime enabled). Only thing I will miss is that huge battery in the G2. But this N5 is holding it's own nicely for my needs. For those of you waiting on shipment, it's worth the wait! I'm impressed.

  8. I'm in the West Valley of Phoenix and can confirm. I have sat in my car within 300 feet of a known LTE tower. My wife's Note 2 connected, My daugher's Victory connected to LTE as well. The G2 stayed on 3G.

Toggle airplane mode, it scans for lte again. Temporary fix for now, but works.

  9. Far superior antenna. Best in the entire sprint lineup.

Source: I have both the LG G2 and Nexus 5 and have been testing them both since Friday.

How is the battery life on nexus 5, compared to G2, in your opinion (or anyone else who has both)? Some Reviewers said N5 was not ideal with screen on time. G2 has amazing battery life, but with some trade-offs like the radios we are seeing.

  10. I've noticed that my G2 will be suck in 3g, in a known strong 4g area. So I toggle airplane mode and then it connects and holds onto that 4g no problem. I think this is related to the eCSFB issue that was posted on the wall here, correct? Forgive me, still learning. But toggling airplane mode does the trick. I noticed the same thing on my old S3 sometimes, but not as often. Thankfully it's a fast toggle on the G2.

  11. I'm getting crazy fast LTE speeds as I'm driving from Houston to San Antonio. 30mbps+. I have enabled all the LTE bands. How do I determine which band I am using currently ? Trying to find it and all the menus of the ##data#. Refresh my memory please, thanks!

  12. Quick question from a technically inclined person... Some videos I try to watch say I need flash to download but it's not supported on Android devices anymore.. What do you do?? Using Chrome but have Mozilla Beta also..

Download latest flash player link here. You can use flash in any browser that supports it (chrome is the main one that doesn't). Stock lg g2 browser works great with flash too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1774336

  13. White g2 here. Back is too slippery for me. Imo, case is required. I have the Tudia ultra slim tpu case. Nice fit and feel. Had the diztronic before that and didn't like it. Uncomfortable bottom edges around ports. Both found on Amazon.

  14. I posted some instructions on how to get your MSL not only for the LG G2 but it also it has options to find it for multiple phones. Do we want to have this posted somewhere in a sticky or something?

I mean if we do then I might want to edit some things in the procedure where it doesn't reference the LG drivers but so far 4 people have tried it (Ascertion, HomerSimpson, Redx and myself) and it has worked.

Newbie around here. The process worked for me as well. Thanks for the detailed instructions! Definitely recommend as a separate sticky. Now I just need to find a B41 tower. Not likely in my area (Katy, TX) anytime soon though.
