Network Vision contracts require 90ms ping times minimum when tested unburdened. Even at the terminal end of a microwave chain. Sites that cannot achieve 90ms are supposed to be corrected. But a lot of rule bending has occurred to keep things moving.
Robert
It's that "unburdened" part that changes as the rest of the network is brought on. When we test for acceptance we patch the site out of the network ring, test the connection, and then patch it back. The point is to test the connections and equipment that was contracted out to the 90ms standard.
-
So this ping is not accurate then?
That was in edgewater but I was really close to the tower.
Yes, and no. There will be times when that ping is normal, there will be times when it is 3-4 times that.
I shouldn't get too far into the specifics but that site is likely the first branch on the network ring. Top of the food chain.
And you can't really say what the resting ping will be until the full network is active.

Ignore the ping on sensorly. It is way off in nearly every case.
Not as much as you might think. Maybe someday I will get crazy enough to show you a flowchart of the network vision equipment. Even if every stage adds 10ms this is roughly correct. The truth is, Netvision is not about 4g, it's the foundation for 5G, and thus it is a bit hefty, in a good way.

uploadfromtaptalk1391706728245.jpg this was also taken this morning by a tower on I25 and 144th. This is the best 3g speeds I have ever seen for me

Hmm, looks like a post m1 migration 3g signal to me. We're working on that ping, one of the drawbacks to having a massive network ring, but oh the joy when it is done.

MLB is the unholy mix of large congregations and boredom... this does not fair well for any network based data.

Soooo... I've been looking at stuff in some sponsor forum topics (not telling what, donate and go see), band 41 sightings around the city, the LG G2 OTA triband update (most likely unrelated, but coincidental), knowing WiMAX had been installed throughout Denver, and Merlin's popping up to tease us with that big juicy 30 day steak, it would be a crime to not speculate.
Denver's a large metro area largely ignored by Sprint. which may have been intentional. A large number of customers are upset because they can't get a straight answer. They're all over Sprint boards, it's no secret. Somebody even created a twitter account for these angry customers and they've been relentless trying to expose something. Some questionable business tactics in my opinion.
My speculation? Denver won't have only LTE in 30 days, they're going to straight light up spark. They've been taking their time with it, making sure to work out the bugs and if it kicks butt, Denver will be Sprints example of what spark is capable of doing. Thoughts, or should I just go make an aluminum hat now?
Please upload photos of the hat.

You're welcome.
On a side note. Yes, I will be getting back to those of you who have PM'd me about sites. Unfortunately, I can't exactly say when. I am traveling a lot and really don't have a ton of time to do site lookups.I'm starting to understand why people that work in IT don't tell their friends that they know how to fix a computer.

Anyone have a more specific idea of when? Days? Weeks? Months?
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I do. :-]
Let's just say you should have some areas of town where you can take a drunk St. Patrick selfie and send it via glorious LTE.

no love for pueblo? waiting for lte to add phone on family plan.
Not my jurisdiction so I don't know for sure. Toss me (PM) a couple site IDs that are near you and I will do some digging on the expected dates (yea, I have access to that now

Metro area? <fingers crossed>
Roughly 4 out of 5 days, up from 2ish out of 5 days. The other time was either mountain, Northern CO, or Springs. Also, I can tell by the type of house-call, Denver is in the final clean up stage.
Is the snow slowing you guys down out there any?
Only when I don't feel like getting on a rooftop. Rawland sites are cake, rooftops blow chunks, sorry downtown.

Looking at the recent sensorly patterns I'd say Northern Colorado.
Looking at my schedule I would say otherwise...

Sure as heck, sprint does show 4G LTE on their own coverage maps for Colorado Springs! Sweet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hmm. I wonder where all those samsung/sprint/ericsson tech are going to be diverting their attention now. :]

Strange happenings at DIA the last two nights - aside from the underground alien city. My S3 will not connect to 3G out there at all. Looking at signal check, it reports an eHRPD signal, but says the eHRPD data connection is "unregistered". It ends up connecting at 1x. All along Pena to and from I get 3G and LTE. As soon as I turn my phone on in Aspen, 3G is there and usable, but DIA - all over the field- no 3G. Anyone else experiencing this? Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk
The sites inside the airport have had a lot of work going on. Note: it is also a royal pain in the ass to access those sites.

ok "grasshopper" are the sites for 80014 and 80123 upgraded yet? You are a kick!!
@Merlin - how is 80246 looking? You hinted at Colorado and I-25 a while back, but I haven't seen any activity on LTE (I have an LG Optimus G, btw)....thoughts?
I'm at 80260. What's the story for up here? I have seen some digging asking market street and 104th. I would assume fiber

Is it too late to make an inquiry on zip 80016?
I'm going to move all these to PMs.
-
Okay, Okay. This is going to take some time. Everyone above this message and who PMd me will get a response. I'll have to be more specific next time. In the metro area we average about 10 sites per zip code, at least.

THE REQUEST HOUR IS LIVE...
FOR THE NEXT HOUR ANYONE WHO MESSAGES ME ASKING IF THEIR LOCAL SITE IS UPGRADED WILL HAVE THEIR QUESTION ANSWERED. REQUESTS AFTER THAT TIME WILL BE ANSWERED... EVENTUALLY... -
Hi there I just wanted to know if there is any progress on rollout in my area of 81063 because of the fact that I have been getting slow to no data sometimes and I haven't herd of any work going on down here did they forget about us down here?
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
There are 412 square miles of that zip code, with a density of 7 PPsqM. With that in mind, you are NV upgraded. I'm not sure if you are running 4g yet (backhaul, maybe). There is not an 800LTE card currently on site for you, one is on its way eventually.
I would be willing to bet that at any given time there are at most 30-40 subscribers within range of that site, and a fully upgraded NV site cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $150,000 installed. That is quite a chunk of change for no return, all to get their coverage map on par with big red.
TL;DR ... chill, you are already upgraded and will probably get LTE within the next few months. You were not forgotten.

Merlin, I have a Samsung Galaxy Mega, and am using the app Lte discovery. It turns off the radio feature of the phone, and picks up Lte coverage in the area for about 1 to 20 seconds, with readings, then reverts back to 3g. i understand why it is reverting, as I have a Tri band phone, and am waiting for the site updates. My questioh is this: I picked up Lte coverage from Havana and Hamden in Aurora, almost the entire trip to Hamden and Wadsworth this morning.(By running multiple test all the way down) My phone even switched to 4GTE by itself at Hamden and Sante fe for about a block without me doing any searching. The same thing happened yesterday. I also picked up 4GLTE from Hamden and I 25 South to 225, then East to Parker Road yesterday by running multiple tests. To your knowlede is GLte in testing stages in those areas, are am I picking up other company's signals. Thanks for all of your insights. We all appreciate you.
That is something the Samsung techs are working on. I don't know for sure.
Something big in longmont eh?
waiting in anticipation...
I see a lot of roaming, 1x and bouncing 3G today so far. I'm located off 17th and Pace st.
Yeaaaa. That site just went down for ... reasons... :-)

Possibly tonight.
May have hit a snag, but sometime this week for sure.-

Doesn't Sprint believe in COWs?
Yes, but not in this case. A COW is usually used for coverage in the event of a site down long term or an event in a strange location. There are 8 sites within range of the stadium, some have been upgraded to NV, some not.
Those poor legacy sites near the stadium didn't stand a chance.

Good lord.
I just watched the legacy network nearly die a premature death when the Broncos won. Maxed out. 2 sites near the stadium redlined and had tech's stationed there to restart them and keep them cooled off.Go Broncos.

Does this mean the 4g towers in the metro area may or may not have backhaul completed?
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
4g requires the fiber backhaul.
but.
Not all fiber backhauled sites are running 4g (yet)

You are running on netvision equipment 3g, but not necessarily an LTE site quite yet.
