  1. Seems to be calibrating now.

     

     

    The phone's percent calibration from 100% - 99% is pretty wonky. I've had it stick at 100% for up to 5 - 6 hours before. Granted with only a few minute screen-on time.

  2. Anyone have any input regarding disabling the Sprint RTSP proxy in ##DATA# ?

    I've always seen it recommended to disable to improve network speeds over 3G and 4G, at least for media streaming.

  3. Canceled my order online as well. The guy tried putting in an In Store Pickup order for me but got stuck at the Order screen for the gift card. I think he was just confused. So I said screw it and just placed my order online normally for in-store pickup today. I'll still try to convince them In Store to give me a gift card. If not, I don't even care at this point.

  4. You guys are actually able to get the $99 Upgrade price in-store? They told me $199 on Upgrade.

     

    Anyway, the attempt they made to give me in-store pickup today failed. So I just got everything switched back over to my address. I might go into the store anyway and ask what they can do.

  5. Called my local store, they said they had some in stock, but at $199 on upgrade.

    Called Best Buy mobile, got a very nice lady that tried switching my order to Store Pickup. So she apparently changed my shipping address to my local store, and upped my shipping toExpedited (fastest method) for free. I told her I just want to try to pick up my store's local stock. So she said she'll call her superior or something higher to see if they can do that. So I'll post again once I hear back from them. If anything, I'll get faster shipping and just pick it up in store.

  6. I broke down and called Best Buy Mobile. I was told that they have no information on when the preorders will ship or if they will ship tomorrow or soon after, but it will probably be up to 10 days after Friday. I asked if I could just reserve two to pick up in store but I was told that I cannot cancel or change my order due to it being preordered.

    I've found that the reps on the phone don't know anymore than the automated response you'll get by calling 877-702-2211 and punching in your order number. I believe that the "Awaiting Fulfillment" status means they are still waiting to get stock in of the phones. So until that changes, don't expect shipping.

  7. OK, That's encouraging  Hopefully, that rep didn't know what he was talking about!

     

    I'm really not getting a good feeling about Friday delivery though...

    If there is one thing I've learned from working in and calling customer supports, it's that the Rep is not always right.

    But seriously, it'll be lame if they ship later than Nov 8th.

     

    However... I saved $100 and got a $50 gift card with them, so I'd say it's worth a bit of extra waiting.

  9. Best Buy's site no longer says "Pre-Order" but "Sale", so maybe they'll be shipping today?

     

    EDIT: Just called Best Buy and they said they're still waiting on phones to even arrive at their facility apparently.

  10. I wish I could change from signature required to site to store or something. I am usually at work when UPS comes, but every once in a while they will come when I pop in on my lunch break. I would hate to miss them on Friday because I am stuck at work. Maybe I will be sick that day..

    Sign up for UPS My Choice, you can have them hold the package at your local distro facility for free (mine is close to my work) or hold at a retail location for a $5 fee. I think there is also a Signature Release option.

  11. Oh man, oh man... my G2 pre-order at Best Buy is still pending, prob won't ship till Nob 8th. I really hope some decent reviews come out for the Nexus 5 this week so I can decide weather or not I want to cancel and go with the N5 instead.

    The pressure!! :blink:

     

    i mean... smaller battery and smaller storage as a trade off for pure Android. It's still tempting.

  12. According to Best Buy, the release date is still unknown and still no change in order status. I'm getting a little jealous of the guys in the Nexus 5 thread who all have shipping confirmations.

    It's gotta be Nov 8th

  13. Uhh ohh. You must not know there is only one American Nexus 5 model. It's that same one for all carriers. Google issues the updates and everyone gets them at once. BAM!!!

    That is a good point. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out.

    If Sprint gets an order page up and reviews come in before my Best Buy pre-order ships, I might consider canceling my G2 order.

     

    Otherwise, no big deal. The G2 will inevitably get AOSP based ROMs anyway.

    Not mine. I realized, every other Nexus device released under Sprint or Verizon don't really give you a true Nexus experience because updates are so delayed due to the slight differences in AOSP with CDMA phones.

    So, might as well stick with the G2.

    Well Engadget was just summing up Sprint's press-release. So it's not just scuttlebutt, but Sprint's official announcment.

  16. Your deductible should be in relation to the property you are insuring. A vehicle could cost $20,000 and a deductible for it $500. Which is around 2.5% of the value of the vehicle. That is an acceptable deductible. A phone's values is around $700 (or less) and the deductible is $100 or more. Which is 15% That is not right. If the deductible was $20 then sure. The premium is too high as well in relation.

    Except that people break their phones far more offten than they wreck their cars. Deductables aren't just relative to the price of the insured item, but also the frequency of claims.

Just pre-ordered the White G2 from BestBuy for $100, plus a $50 GC.  The Black was out of stock.  I wanted black, and was thinking about waiting to see if would come back in stock, but decided white was ok.  I think its in high demand cause its a good deal, especially if you're a new customer then its free plus a $50 GC. WOW!

     

    Nothing on the ship date though, so not sure when I'll get it.

     

    Hope this LTE thing gets worked out!

     

    Just an FYI, as I pre-ordered back on the 11th: I called the Customer Service number, and they confirmed that you won't get the gift card via email until the phone ships. They also didn't have any ETA on the ship date. I'm guessing we won't get our order's shipped until the Nov 8th release date.

  18. is it true, you can't use data while on a phone call unless connected to wifi?  read this somewhere else:

     

    (Negative) Data/Voice - this may be a deal breaker for some. Not able to connect to data while on a phone call unless on WiFi. The LG rep wasn't aware of this till I told him, and said it works on Verizon. The only other phones that have this problem in Sprint are iPhones

    Wasn't the G2 confirmed not to support SVLTE (Simultaneous Voice and LTE) awhile back? Even though the specs list SVLTE for the Global version... I guess we lost that with Triband?
