  1. How would an RF signal booster ameliorate your home broadband data cap?  Do you actually use that much data on your handsets while inside the house?

The more I can do from my phone the less I'll use my computer, we also don't do cable, we have OTA which is fine but there are some other shows we'd like to watch as well.

  2. It would mostly be 3g around the house and voice and 3g in the basement. We have a lot of trees around here, with the antenna already mounted on the roof it should get a lot better reception than our phones. I won't have fun climbing the roof to take a look at the antenna cable as its about 60' higher than our back yard. Eventually I was thinking that I may be able to catch 4g better when its available and compatible boosters are out.

  3. Ouch. Well from what I've seen around here, people have been able to install 1900 3G Repeaters, but that there isn't a 1900 LTE repeater at this time.

LTE isn't up in my area yet, 800 voice/3g seems to be on since my phone works in the basement calls are ok data only works sometimes, Verizon wouldn't even do that. I assume for LTE we're waiting on the back haul (microwave I think) but once that gets upgraded :I assume everything will improve as well.

  4. I'm looking at putting a couple antennas in my home. I all ready have an external antenna left from the previous owner although it looks like it connected straight to a Cellular modem/router as the cable coming off it is not a standard F Connector.

I'm looking to see what others have done, what equipment they're using, and their results.

I think I'm gonna buy piece by piece and do the installation over a period of time. If you know of anywhere to get a good deal on antennas or boosters ect. online please pass it on hear.

    Thanks,

  5. Ok. Guess it's time for some real life testing and results. To those who do get it today, let us know.

  6. It sucks you are put into this dilemma but the GS4 and Note 3 only have LTE 1900 support.

The only thing I am skeptical about this 10/10/13 expiration date is that Sprint has been promoting this $100 port in credit since the GS4 and HTC One have come out.  I am sure that Sprint purposely introduce expiration dates to get the customers to trigger an impulse reaction thinking that a promotion is ending soon and they must upgrade now.  I wonder if Sprint is going to extend the $100 port in credit after 10/10/13.  I highly doubt this $100 port in credit promotion started in March 2013 and had an end date of 10/10/13.  My guess is that the $100 port in credit promotion in March 2013 had an expiration date of sometime in May 2013 and then the promotion was renewed every 2 months.

I know Sprint is still dying to attract customers given the lost business of iDEN wholesale customers plus Sprint customers defecting to other carriers due to slow data speeds and voice issues.

Well the wife wants to get a smart phone and her Casio Brigade (I think thats the model) is starting to die. I'd love a Triband phone, but I could easily settle for a Biband phone (800 Mhz)

The disadvantage for me in buying a phone brand new to market is after market support for a waterproof case

I'm also looking at Wilson for a Booster that works for the 800... or if I get a single band 1900 Mhz LTE since I already have a direction antenna mounted to my roof but I think that will be a while as well.

But as long as we're sporting 800 Mhz voice and 3G, I'll be able to live!

  7. After confirming that the release date from my friend in Sprint marketing was on Nov 2nd, he's now confirmed that LG reps are throwing a launch party for Sprint reps on Oct 28th.

I'm interested in getting G2, but my wife is ready to get a Note 3, I'd love a Triband phone but Sprints $100 bring a line looks to be expiring the 10th. I know I can get a waterproof case for the S4, the only thing I don't know is if the S4 has 800 LTE. Looks like LG lost out on this one.

  8. None of us have heard anything yet. Patience is the key at this point. I'm hoping October is the month Sprint catches up with all their phone releases.

I wouldn't be surprised if sprint is waiting for some of the incentives to expire before they release their new phones. And once NV is up and shows how sprint has the best coverage in the nation, they'll drop unlimited data like its hot.

  9. Well my wife will be going for the Note, I was going to buy an S4 because it seems like a good phone with an IR blaster and I can get a waterproof case for it. I'd love triband but my wife wants to switch right when the Not3 comes out

  10. My wife didn't know which phone she wanted didn't care about OS but once she saw the Note II and played with it she loves the idea of a note pad for work instead of trying to find a pen and pad of paper in her purse. It will be her first smart phone. I'm looking at the S4, but its been almost 3 years since I went phone shopping and all I cared about is a phone that I could take duck hunting so I went feature, a lot has changed in 3 years and honestly, I honestly (gosh I feel like I'm getting old) I have trouble keeping up, there is just too much yet for me to learn at this point to feel like I'm making a good informed decision.

  11. I got a couple pictures of towers... so exciting... really the kid just needed a nap so I took him for a drive.

This tower is labeled as a 3G/800 and is closest to my house, it also is pretty far back from the road with no public access, and I couldn't get a picture of the full tower DSC_0233_zps84855867.jpg

This tower is labeled as 3G and is the second closest tower to my house

super exciting... I take it both these towers have yet to be upgraded fully.

  12. Hey, it seems like you guys are the local Sprint experts. I recently moved to SW Michigan in-between Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Lansing. We currently have Verizon  but we are looking to switch to sprint. I'm wondering how much the Sprint Vision upgrade will improve coverage. It looks like Sprint is working on network upgrades in my area, there is LTE service within a mile of my house (we're rural) so I assume towers on our north east near Lansing have been upgraded and towers on our South West have yet to be upgraded. We don't know anyone with Sprint so current actual coverage is a guess. Thanks for any information you have.

So with the maps... if the site is not "in progress" are they not going to upgrade or not upgrading at this time? Is sprint going to add 800 to all their sites?

I guess I'm confused by the maps, can anyone give a better description of the sponsor maps and what Sprint is doing, or is a more detailed description already posted somewhere?
