  1. Now I am really confused! We were all lead to believe that 4G would provide better penetration. Does that mean I need to place my phone back to 3G before having sex? LOL! Actually, it's not that big of a deal to switch back and forth - I get full bars for phone calls in CDMA and 3-4 bars when using data in 4G (usually 7.5-15 Mbps). Bottom line is service has improved significantly.

P.S. Sensorly reflects a 4 bar signal is tops for 4G.

  2. That site has been giving horrible service for weeks now. We knew it was being upgraded despite no official ticket in the system. Must have gotten at least 5 people a day into our store for just that tower.

4G speed download 8.8 Mps but now signal strength has been reduced to 3-4 bars. It used to be 6 solid bars.

  3. eHRPD:11 is the equivalent of an Error 67 on EVDO. Most new phones now show both eHRPD:11 MIP:67 on the error screen that comes up now. It is a data authentication failure. There are numerous reasons for this to occur, most having to do with your phone's data provisioning being out of sync with the network values. It will also occur when your phone is hotlined, suspended or disconnected; since your NAI is then suspended as well in those instances. It gives no information to actually  determine what the cause is, it's the runny nose of the mobile world, a symptom with no real evidence of the cause but a huge number of potential causes.

Thank you, I think -- over 10 yrs with Sprint and never saw that one before - appreciate your time and knowledge.

  4. Nope! Nobody has managed to nail down a fiber install time here until now. This is a test case.Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

This morning when I checked my phone (o/a 0530) there was a message stating there was "no data connection" with eHRPD 11 showing but when I checked the web it was working - a "restart" of the phone then cleared the message - 3g was reflected throughout this time frame and my neighborhood has yet to see any 4g. Thanks for your input.

  5. There are many areas still without, not just SE. I think the wilmot gate has good odds of being high on the to-do list.

Thanks - old equip came down, new equip up and 3g accepted three months ago - Century Link has new fiber optic installed both north and east from the Wilmot site but appeared "stalled" near the Circle K on S Kolb - that appears finalized at this time - it appears those lines are headed toward the tower at S Pantano/E Irvington.

    Hello All!

Long time luker and avid supporter here of mapping and locating info for my fellow customers. My name is E.J. and I work for Best Buy inside of the Park Place Mall. I currently have Virgin Mobile's $35 plan. I can personally attest that even Virgin is getting 4G LTE just like all of the other Sprint customers ;^) Also there isn't a data cap that I have hit yet. I'm a HIGH data user and love this new 4G speeds!

  7. Will do TS!  Thanks for the confirmation, maybe I'll make my way to the chevron there on the corner and do some snooping with the engineering screens..

The signal you were receiving was, more than likely, coming from a Sprint cell site on the NW corner of S Pantano/E Irvington - antennae are mounted on a TEP high tension tower about halfway up.

  8. There are a couple towers near the UofA providing 4G... but it is WiMax service, not LTE. They are protection sites installed by ClearWire to maintain their licenses in the Tucson area by covering the minimum number of POPs required by the FCC.

What say ye - are these new "findings" true or are they "catching" WiMax as previously posted?

  9. People turning their phones on, automatic on/off, Do not Disturb modes being deactivated, beginning to download software and app updates, etc. Essentially the network going from a minimal use case, to a fully utilized and overloaded tower.

In other words, 200, 000 tickets have been sold for a game being played in a 100, 000 seat capacity stadium thus negating expansion of the stadium, i.e., fiber optic to expedite the crowd thru the gates to the new facility.

  10. Fun fact... a coworker sent me a screenshot of a speedtest showing LTE live in Tucson. 70 ping, 15.33Mbps/6.31Mbps. He was somewhere in central Tucson, I'll see if he can give me more info when I get to work. He just has access to the built in tools/info.

Last week Wireless Evolution, Tucson Mall, advised that there are a couple of towers near the UofA providing LTE.

  11. Perhaps in a sense. But once the order is placed, they can nag and nag, but if Cox, or CentryLink drags their feet, is it really still Sprint's fault? Sprint dropped CenturyLink in New Mexico because they were dragging so much, but that's only put them even further behind schedule.

Do you happen to know if CenturyLink is, in any way, shape or form, "connected" to AT&T?

  12. Since last Friday, not one site has been accepted (even 3 G) in the Tucson market while every other market has had site accepted, pathetic!

I personally spoke with technicians at the S Wilmot/Nicaragua site about a month ago - they advised at that time that site had, at that time, been 3G accepted. Speed in the wee hours ranges 1.2-1.8 Mps but drops from early morning thru late night to .13-.85 mostly toward the middle .35-.55 - it has been this way for an entire month - Sprint said two-three weeks ago the tower site is "pending" and that the same holds true for the site at Pantano/Irvington.

  13. Maybe that's why Centurylink here in Yuma is starting to mobilize, they don't want to loose this contract.Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4

Phoenix has some 4G LTE - what vendor installed the backhaul up there - I'm broke but would consider a fund raiser to have that vendor finish Tucson/Yuma!
