  1. Unless you turn off LTE on the handset, you cannot use an Airave with a tri band handset.  So, if you have consistent LTE at home, all calls incoming/outgoing will be through the macro network.  The Airave will sit unused.

Good.  The AirRave was nice but has its own problems like handing off to the macro network.  So if service is improved to where i no longer drops calls then I will go without the AR. I just don't want to jump the gun and then they optimize it where I am no longer with good service.

I have to admit that I don't understand the "empty" spots around Kerman where it drops all data and barely any voice service and you can see the tower.  For instance, the Taco Bell drive through.  You can have LTE until you drive around to the window.  Then NOTHING.

My hope is that they use the old Nextel tower.  If they do that we will be well served in the Kerman area.

  2. In the west side of fresno, is anyone constantly being switched from 3G to LTE? It happens whenever i have LTE on. Also at my school (4055 N Bryan Ave Fresno CA 93722) signal is fine outside but inside it goes down to 1 bar of 3g or 1 bar of 1x. Anyone have an idea of what could be causing these issue and maybe a staus of tower upgrades in the area? Thanks!

I drove by Glacier today and noticed that you are on the fringe.  It is going to bounce all over the place when indoors.  When outdoors you will pickup the tower on Shaw/Polk which is pretty screamin'.

  3. My church is 2 blocks south of the Kerman tower.  When I am there it was typical 3G (1900mhz) Service.  I live 5 miles north of Kerman and when I left town my phone (Galaxy s4 non-spark) would switch to 800mhz (voice).  This has been going on now since Sept of 2014.  Near Biola though it does pick up 4gLTE (band 25) in spots from the tower at 99/Polk.

I can concure though that yesterday while at church it stayed on the 800mhz band while at church and never switched.  I don't know what that means, if anything, but when I last talked to c.s. at Sprint, 2 months back, they informed me that 4g would be coming "within 90 days".  It has been in that status since 2013!

  4. It's tough in this market because it is either really good or really bad.  There is really no middle ground.

My biggest (personal) complaint is why they would have LTE in towns of 12,000 and 7,000 (Mendota and Firebaugh) but not have it for a town of 17,000.  Kerman is a blackhole with all the other neighboring towns with LTE.  It makes no sense.  Oh and the backhaul/hub provider is 2' away so that cannot be an excuse.

  5. I did notice a blip of lte in downtown Fresno that appeared on Sensorly, anyone know if that's an anomaly or is there 4G down there (haven't been down there for a couple weeks). It's one round blip of purple at Tulare and O St.

Not an anomaly. Two towers south of town have lte. When the stars align and the wind blows and the coyote jumps over the moon......lte shows up on 180 and Brawley.
