  1. I'm a little concerned, maybe some of you more educated posters can help me out.

It seems like Sprint put themselves in a bad place by not getting any AWS spectrum. It looks to me like this is the place to expand, but it's too late for Sprint to join the party.

They're not getting the PCS H Block and from what I've heard the 600MHz spectrum isn't the best.

Sprint has very little ESMR band spectrum. Are they banking too much on the Clearwire spectrum?

Edit: Corrected myself. I mistakenly used Cellular instead of ESMR.

  2. Mine is set to arrive tomorrow. I ordered a 32GB. hope there are no issues.

I went to my local sprint store and the girl told me they haven't even received the training materials for the phone. When I asked her about the SIMs she told me they don't carry any, not even to replace the ones in the iPhone.

Something tells me that activation is not going to be easy.

Yes, I am getting more worried by the minute. Check out this thread:

  3. I doubt that most third party retailers would be willing to help you for free.  They are in business for themselves -- they just happen to be reselling Sprint.

Good point. I guess the point is moot if the phone comes with a SIM. We'll just wait and see.

  4. Hope you are right.  X phone may be my next if it comes to Sprint with Tri-band.  But in reality I'll probably get whatever Android tri-band comes out first on Sprint - hopefully there will be several announced at once.

I'm not really worried if the price is as low as expected. I'll just buy off contract and upgrade to a triband phone later. I'm not impressed by what we've seen of the LG G2, although the Note 3 could be good. I don't expect any surprises from Samsung though. Reviews of the Galaxy Tab 3 have been bad.

  5. I agree, but I wouldn't rule it out, I believe there are a few European carriers doing 800/2600Mhz LTE. Not supporting it (again) would be a pretty stupid move.

With Apple, I tend to look at history more than logic. It would not harm them not to support these bands, as consumers don't care, but it would cost more money to support them. I would be surprised if they supported either of the new LTE bands.

  6. I wonder if this phone will be a Sprint exclusive like the Photon series.  Also the fact that it will be single band LTE means that I certainly will not be buying this product.  Too bad though...I was hoping that Motorola was going to try to step it up this year by offering a its own flagship phone like the rest of the major OEMs.

It doesn't look like flagship material, but it will not be an exclusive. There will at least be AT&T and Verizon versions.

  7. What are the chances that the LG Optimus G Pro (the sprint version with snapdragon 800) gets tri-band support?

Also...didn't sprint say they were goin straight to tri-band from single band? So a late 2013 tri-band launch would mean they have network support for a band (800LTE) before a device?! For the past like 10 years it has been sprint's MO to release a device with support for a nonexisting network band!!!!

I would think the G Pro would not be tri-band since it's an older device.

The rumored Optimus G 2 would be more likely I think.

Edit: Apparently the Optimus LS980 we're getting has a Snapdragon 800 so there might be more changes. They don't mention the screen size, so it could be either one. The original Optimus G was the LS970, but the AT&T G Pro is E980, which has a Snapdragon 600. Strange.

  8. To be honest, I have been very disappointed in Motorola high end phones thus far.  I wouldn't be surprised if they flop the next Sprint LTE phone since Motorola seems to only do well with Verizon.

As a Moto Photon 4G owner myself, I was initially excited for the phone which is why I got it but the lack of software updates and the failure of Motorola to provide the Photon 4G with ICS upgrade has really rubbed me the wrong way.  Heck the Photon Q 4G LTE just barely got Android 4.1.2 in May 2013.

From the rumors I've read, they're trying to have one phone on all carriers like Apple, Samsung, and now HTC. Google is trying to make them more innovative too. But the leaked pictures I've seen don't look like flagship material.

Edit: Now LG might have a bendable display in a phone this year. Optimus G 2 is looking better and better:

  9. I won't rule it out. This summer and fall should be full of surprises. I'm actually surprised that Sprint hasn't announced other phones at CTIA today. Maybe throughout the week they will announce more. (Samsung SPH-L500 anyone?)

It seems the OEMs are taking more control of phone announcements, at least with flagships. I wouldn't be surprised to see a ZTE or something, but I would not expect an EVO, for example.
